"Light and Dark, both are supposed to be the morality choices of The Force, if you believe them to be. I think them of nothing more of philosophy's created by the Jedi to make some sort of balance in their Order."

"Well, there actually is some kind of dark side. I've been there... in my past. Horrible, believe me. That is, if the dark side controls you, if it eats at you..." he was silent for a while as he thought over this.
A few seconds later he continued: "Remember that abilities are never good or evil. It's how you use them. For example, I use the Dark Side powers Crush and Lightning a lot in combat to deal some serious damage to opponents, if I really need to kill them. However, I don't abuse the powers, I use them to defeat my enemies out of self-defence or while defending others."

"But I wanted to start with a couple of core powers. Powers which are not dark or light either. I refer to the powers; speed and jump, also called leap."

He turned around and looked at the field. To the left of him were the high rocks and across of the field was the edge of the forest.

"What I want you to do now, is try using Force Speed to get to the other side of the field as fast as you can. I will demonstrate."

He then used Force Speed and in a flash he dashed to the other side of the field. He was there within seconds and then turned around to shout back to Valek: "You don't need to get here as fast as I just did, but just try to use the power. Experiment with it and try to get here as fast as possible. Let the force flow through your veins and let it boost your energy. Let it take control of your legs and let it carry you. Concentrate and focus on the force."

"I'll keep that in mind."

Valek said after hearing Quentell tell him about The Dark Side. It would take alot to let powers or some divine force to take control of Valek; He made it this far without letting it take control of him, he would keep going. After seeing Quentell speed over to to the edge of the Forrest nearby and being told to do so aswell, Valek only nodded as he started to do that.

Placing his hand over his helmet where his forehead would be, He started to focus like he did before, feeling the Force Gather around his body again. It seemed that the more he used the Force on his own, the less the headache got, but still never went away. Once he felt he had gathered enough, he released his hand as he looked straight ahead as he took a single step forward. That was when everything rushed straight into him and eventually past him before it all stopped a few seconds later when Valek saw he was now in the field several feet away from Quentell.

He never made it as far as his master, but he felt the sudden gust of energy and speed when he accelerated towards the Forrest. It was... strong.

Quentell was impressed. "You did well, Valek. Very good. Keep practicing this power and you will master it in time. Later on in the training we will do some more exercises about speed as well as leap and other powers. Are there any questions about this power or is there something else you want to ask me? Otherwise we're moving on to the next objective."

"I am ready to keep moving on."

That was all he said. He felt that his body was changing slightly as he used more of The Force, as well as his mind. It was definitely a different experience then any other he has had before.

"Good. You see those rocks?"

He moved over to the rocks and stood in front of them. It started with a low rock, but just a little higher than reachable by just jumping. Then it continued with more rocks, all a bit higher than the previous one. The last one was a very high rock, from which one had a beautiful view over the enclave, the forest, and the area around it.

"To get on those rocks, you'll have to use the Force to allow yourself to jump higher. When out on a mission or adventure, you will often have to use this power to get out of nasty situations."

"To use the Force to leap over high distances or jump higher than you normally can, you must let it flow through your body, as always. Command it to build up strength in your legs and than let it make you fly for a while. You know how to use Force Speed, to Jump is in principal the same. I will demonstrate this technique. Try to follow me up."

Quentell gathered the Force and builded up strength in his legs, just like he explained. He then launched himself into the air. He jumped high, just high enough to reach the first rock, and landed safely. He turned and looked down at Valek.

Watching this demonstration, Valek knew what he had to to as he started to do what his master had done. Gathering the energy, he closed his eyes under his helmet as the energies around him were now put into focus towards his legs. He could now feel the energies swirling around them after a moment of gathering it, and now knew it was time. Turning towards the first rock, Valek gave off a sprint supported only by his own strength at first and when he approached the face of the rock, he leaped into the air and towards the edge.

It was not enough though, and he only made it half way as he grabbed a rock lodged into the ground about a foot away from the edge. He dangled there for a moment, knowing he either did not gather enough energy or he used it too soon. He then managed to pull himself up towards the cliff where Quentell was.

Obviously he was getting used to The Force, but gathering the energy and using it sparingly was still something Valek had a hard time with...

As Valek climbed on the rock, Quentell was relieved he reached the surface of the rock. However, if he had fallen down, he would not crash down because this first rock wasn't too high.

"Very good. Now we will have to leap from rock to rock to get on the highest. Be careful now, the higher we get, the more dangerous it will be. If you happen to fall, I will help you with my own Force."

Quentell turned and leaped to the next rock, where he waited for Valek.

Nodding, Valek watched again as Quentell leaped up to the next rock that was higher then the last. He was right, and if Valek screwed up, the fall would be dangerous the higher he went, which meant he would need to focus his energy more when leaping. He focused on gathering energy once more towards his legs, more then the last time to ensure he would not grab the edge, but land beyond it instead. After a few minutes, he felt he gathered the energy as he looked up and jumped up, going quite high as he just barely landed a few inches past the edge that Quentell was on. His master could hear him breathing in slightly from under the helmet.

"Before we go on, there is a query I must ask."

Valek said he had a question. Quentell looked at his apprentice and nodded.

"Sure, Valek. Go ahead." he said. Wondering what Valek meant.

"How is it you are doing all these abilities with The Force with ease? I know it requires time and training, but there must be a way for me to progress faster then having to gather this energy for several minutes each time I want to complete a task."

Quentell smiled. It was a good question and Valek was his first padawan to ask such a thing. Valek was a clever man.

"A very good question, Valek. You see, the force has to become a second nature of you. It must become your ally, your companion. The more you practise and the more you train, the more it will listen to you and do as you command. Remember that the force binds everything, it's everywhere. In the trees, in the air, in living beings. However, only some people have the power to call upon the force. People like you and me."

"You must also learn patience. In the beginning it's harder to call upon the force and it will take you more time to do so. As we progress, you will find you're able to use it easier and the force will become, let's say, a part of you. I hope that was a good explanation."

"Very well, Master Xall. It makes sense; everytime I used it, it feels more familiar to me. Slowly, but slightly easier with each use."

"Alright then. You will make a good Knight, Valek. I am sure of it. Let us continue."

The Shade Knight turned and leaped from rock to rock until he reached the highest rock of all. He overlooked the area surrounding the enclave and waited for Valek. He was pleased by the progress Valek made, the Shade Padawan was doing great. After this training, the order had a new valuable member among its ranks.

Looking up to see that Quentell had reached such a height with ease, Valek knew this would take longer, but he had all the time he needed. Stepping back from the face of the rock wall until he was slightly on the edge, he focused more energy this time. Every minute that passed when he gathered The Force, it was like he was filling an empty void that had appeared there, but never depleted. This must have been what Quentell meant on the Force becoming part of him.

After several minutes of gathering energy, He looked up and ran at the wall infront of him as he leaped at it, ascending into the air as he grabbed the edge of the next cliff, pulling himself up with ease onto the next cliff side. He saw he had two more higher cliffs to get up too, but with the energy he gathered, Valek knew he could get there. He ran at the next wall, surprisingly running straight up it for a few steps before leaping upwards and grabbing a jagged rock sticking out of the side of the cliff with one hand. Holding onto this, he focused the energy he had into that hand as he propelled himself upwards and to the cliff's edge where he then pulled himself up it.

Valek looked at the final cliff he had to ascend, and knew if he failed this, the fall would be quite painful for him. He decided to focus on gathering more Force energies then before, ignoring the clear signs of fatigue loss he had from gathering so much energy in only a few hours.

Quentell watched Valek's progress with interest. When Valek reached the final cliff Quentell said: "You can rest now, before we continue. I watched your progress and it seems you're getting more and more familiar with the Force. That's a good thing. You use it with more ease now, don't you?"

He then remembered Valek's headache and wondered how he was. He decided to ask: "What about your headache? Is it still there?"

Nodding, Valek approached the side of the cliff as he pressed his right hand against it, resting for the moment like he was told to do so. Valek listened in on what Quentell had asked of him, and he gave a honest reply on what has been going on in his head.

"It is still there, in the back of my head, but I have channeled out it's pain. Do not concern yourself about it, it is only a minor annoyance to my being. But it is becoming more and more familiar with me... The Force, that is. When I met you, it was a mere, empty void that caused me migraines, but now it seems that I have found it's purpose inside me."

Quentell nodded with a smile. He then turned and looked down to the ground, which was metres below.

"One can also use the Force to make a smooth landing. Like a slow fall effect. If you dare, you may try this out. I will be standing down there to catch you with my own Force power in case anything goes wrong. Otherwise you can climb down using that ladder over there. It's up to you. We can return here any time to practice slow fall techniques." Quentell explained. He turned towards Valek and began to explain the technique: "It's basically the opposite of leaping. When using the force to leap, it launches you upwards, as you have learned and experienced yourself. To use a slow fall, as I call it, you must let the force hold you in the air and let you descend gently. Like you're in an elevator. When you used the force to speed up, it made you faster than is naturally possible, when using the Slow Fall it basically does the same but lets you fall slower. The name is quite self-explaining. So, if you want to, give it a try. I will give you a sign when you can come down. If you think it's too high and too much of a risk, you can use the ladder. Either way, I will give a demonstration so you can see what it's like. And again, if anything goes wrong, I will catch you with my own force power."

He waited patiently for an answer.

"Very well."

Feeling he rested long enough, he leaned off against the wall as he approached the edge to watch the demonstration.

"I will see how you do it, and I will attempt to do the same."

Quentell smiled and then stepped over to the edge. He then concentrated for a short while and began to descend slowly towards the solid ground. After a few moments he had reached the ground and looked up to Valek.

He took a few steps back and shouted: "You can come down, Valek."

He was ready to catch his apprentice with his force power if he happened to fall. He did not want to see Valek breaking a leg.
