A few feet was all one bold raider needed to sign the deed to his demise. Perhaps too young or just over zealous he neared the pair of hunters unprepared- Evie however; was just the opposite. With a snarl she sprung upon him, Rifle strap over her shoulder and weapon swinging across her back as she pounced- her gloved hands held open like wild paws as she Threw herself onto his torso. She brought her knee to puncture his middle as the two crashed together. Heavy fire filled the air and she was deaf, whether it was Ares injury or the euphoria of battle that drove her, her hands grew numb as her thumbs pushed through the pinned Tusken’s eyewear and burrowed deeper and deeper, mining for the thick crimson ore which spewed forth.

Struggling to reach his distant, fallen, rifle, the man of sand writhed beneath the huntress, his limbs waving violently and throaty sounds of agony gurgling beneath his headdress. Evie Locked her legs around his waist all the more tight and leaned closer as his fingers dug into her lips, her cheeks, just near her eyes. He sought freedom but all he found was a sightless world and the feel of her canines and supple skin as he dug his desperate finger tips wherever he could pry. Suddenly his fight weakened, His hand dropped, slipping from her forehead and down her cheek to the ground.

Dead.

Evie sat upright, her arms falling to her side momentarily and her head tilted. A scowl of disgust dressed her lips as she examined her work, still kneeling upon the corpse like a saw horse.

"Incoming danger close."

"Close!"

Her head whipped around as Shawn’s voice cut her quiet musings like a knife and her eyes scanned like shots of gold light across the exploding line of Raiders. Her smirk returned and she rose to her feet in a fluid motion, kicking a thin, vibro razor from her ankle holster and into her waiting left hand.

As the night sky became a brilliant shower of spent explosive, Ares saw a figure slightly cooler than all the other lightly robed tuskins. It was for only an instant, due to the fact that Ares had to shut off his infared visor to keep the bright flashes of torpedo explosions from blinding him. For the time being the armored hunter was forced to dismiss the different figure, he had on way of seeing it until the heat from the explosions died down, and there was no telling what it actually was until he got a better look at it.

Ignoring the pain in his now crimson leg, Ares ran over to Stasha with his assualt rifle in his left hand, spraying a trile burst of fire into the ridge line with his rifles automatic fire. His helmets exterior speakers cracked to life and automaticlly raised in volume to combat the sonuds of battle as he spoke,

" Stasha! We need to push them back over the ridge! If we dont give them any ground they'll give up and leave! They're losses are already to great for just our equipment!"

The bounty hunter didnt wait for a reply, because he was already half way up the side of the ridge wall before he even heard Stasha speak, although it could have been because all he could hear was his own breathing and warning sirens in his helmet telling him he was loosing blood at a hightened rate.

When he reached the top of the ridge he immediatly shot a lingering tuskin right in the gut almost point blank with his rifle, the slug going clean through as the raider fell to the ground in a heap. Bringing his rifle to bare on another tuskin, Ares rifle only clicked instead of blowing the raider away. The clip was empty, and there was no time nor cover to change it in, so Ares simply threw it back down into the large trench that the camp was in. He simultaniously pulled his short sword out as well as one of his heavy blaster pistols, shooting a tuskin before it was even out of the holster.

Shawn stood there the tuskens seemed to be to busy with stasha and Ares to even aim at him as he stood there painting targets and, and slowly started to lose feeling in his extremities do to the wound in his shoulder and the heavy blood lose. Shawns comm unit crackled to life as he sent a message to everyone instead of the external speakers since they were spread out now.

"Ares get to cover a secound wave is inbound and these bombs are heavier not to mention Highly flamable." Shawn said in a raspy voice as he finished painting the last groups of targets on the ridge line.

“Ares!” Stasha called as he raced past.

“Your hurt!” she exclaimed, blade still clenched tightly in her fist as she hurried after him with a growl of exasperation.

“why is every man ignoring me today?” The Zabrak hissed internally. She cut down a Raider who sprung from his post and received her flat blade crudely at a diagonal in his neck bandaging. The momentary pause to retrieve the deeply plunged razor was just long enough for its owner to fall behind.

“Wait!” Evie screamed, steaming with anger.

Gritting her teeth and tearing her weapon from the still slightly stirring body that lay like a half mashed bug in the dirt, she raced towards her husband only to be cut off by another assailant. Narrowly dodging a rifle shot at close range she began to wrestle the weapon from the raider who challenged her. Beyond her blocked path ( and over the shoulder of her astonished attacker) Ares ascended the ridge.

Shawn had dealt a fatal blow to the Tusken’s forces. All that was left was to drive off the foolish survivors who still stood to challenge them. The raiders had made a mistake. What they thought was to be a trio of hunters excluded Mac’ Neal’s penchant for heavy artillery- they were a small army.

With a click of her right heel against the ground Stasha’s hidden blade shot forth from the pointed toe of her boot- she became a whirl of blades against a mash of filthy rags and Tusken war cries.

As Shawn’s voice sounded Evie shoved the lifeless raider’s frame to the floor, squinting as a splatter of battle dew sprayed the right side of her turned cheek.

He was hurt, Both of them were and she made her way to the closest- Ares. Worry for Shawn began to tug at her heart strings as she grew increasingly alert- They could not afford another injured party member.

“Hang in there Shawn!” She replied, cupping her hand over one ear to better hear her comm as she ambled.

Kal stood off to the side, crouched in the sand now. Tusken corpses littered the ground around him and he waited patiently for another oppurtunity to help the party. He saw Stasha and Ares off to one side of the camp and Shawn on the other.

He was just standing there painting targets but Kal saw the blood staining his armatures and realized how dangerously close to fainting Shawn might be. He then witnessed a Tusken slipping up behind Shaw, trying to catch him unawares. Kal sent his sword flying end over end towards the raider. The tip of the sword entered the tusken's skull and split it like a ripe melon.....

" Cancel that strike Shawn. " Ares said as he wrenched his shortsword out of the back of one of the less fortunate tuskens. Those who werent already dead had begun to flee, the tribe that attacked the bounty hunters would probably never fully recover from the botched raid that had just unfolded. Seeing the battle coming to a close let Ares breathe a sigh of relief, no casualties had been taken on their side, although they hadnt gotten out of it unskathed..." The enemy is already retreating and we might need that ordinance for later." The hunter said as he finished his thoughts and his sentence.

Seeing that the air around them had cooled considerably, Ares turned hid infared visor back on, and caught the colder figure once again. Only this time it was much more closer than before. The armored hunter could distinctly make out some sort of robe or cloak of some kind draped over the figure, giving it a colder appearence due to the extra clothing blocking the skins natural heat. To Ares it might have been another tusken too stupid to flee, and it was way to close to Shawn for him to just stand there and gawk at it. With a flick of his wrist, Ares threw his smaller combat knife after retrieving it from his boot towards the possibly hostile, he didnt want to waste any more ammo then he already did.

Shawn didn't even notice the tusken that got his head split in two by the blade of the cloaked man he was doing all he could to stay upright and keep his eyes open as he painted the targets.

Ares voice sounded muffled as the order came through to hault his attack "Roger...." Shawns voice becomeing straighned, his vision blerring, and breathing heavily he fell onto his back as the last bit of adrenalin keeping him conscious was wearing off.

Kal caught a glint of firelight gleam off the spinning knife. He twisted his body to let it pass over him and caught it by the blade as it passed. He flipped it in his hand so the handle was in his palm and slid it int his belt, a little souvenier for the night. He ran past the dazed Shawn and yanked the sword from the tuskens split skull. He turned back to look at Ares and gave a curt nod before turning to continue running out into the open dessert.

Ares immediatly chased the hooded figure into the night, forgetting his bleeding leg and letting his adrenaline keep his mind focused. The knife the figure had taken off with had been with the armored hunter since close to the beginning of his hunting career. Normally he didnt harbor such attachment to weapons, but that knife was one of the last shreds of his former life he had left, he was hell bent on getting it back.

Running and shooting at the same time was very inaccurate and half the time yielded no results, so Ares would just try to out run the cloaked humanoid and shoot him when he stopped to rest.

Stasha skidded to a stop at Ares side as he sent a knife tearing through the air. She squinted towards the firelight- Shawn fell limp and she quickly turned to her husband, ready to bolt to her fallen comrade’s side but searching for something within Ares gaze. Another figure- the target of his attack?- passed through the distant camp, over Shawn and disappearing into the night- a silhouette, moving as swift and smooth as the wind.

Within the moment she faced him he took off running.

She did the same.

She ran back to the disheveled line of tents, the traces of the raiders assault left strewn about the dirt. The bounty hunter’s camp fire burned to cinders- long gone but the corpses struck by Shawn’s assault had left flames where a Tusken once stood. The flickering light reflected like molten gold on her pale skin- the splatter of blood shining fresh like bullion flecks upon her cheeks.

Stasha came to Shawn and knelt beside him tenderly, she reached gingerly for his shoulder.

“Keep Your eyes open, Mac’ Neal.” She ordered softly.

Her expression hardened and she left him momentarily for her tent, swiftly returning with two packs in hand, a med pack and one of blood.

“That thing makes a better outfit then a coffin.” she said, readying some Bacta Gel.

the bacta gel going into the wound hurt like hell as it started to plug the hole. Shawn removed his helmet with his good arm. "you know.... it seems like.... everytime I'm with you guys.... I get heavily injured....." Shawn said breathing heavily and haveing trouble seeing streight at best he was seeing double. "but I guess I escape death again..." Shawn chuckled half kidding.

A ships engines could be heard approaching from above as Shawns fighter he called and used to bomb the hell out of the tuskens began to land a few feet away from the camp.

"wheres Ares... he's injured isn't he? you should...have gone with him there could...be more out there..... and left me I would have been fine."

Kal glanced over his shoulder to see Ares pursuing him.

"Damnit Ares. Don't you know when to leave well enough alone?" He whispered to himself. He kept running until a canyon appeared in front of him. He skidded to a stop at the edge and looked over, it was a very long fall, however.....

He turned to look at the pursuing bounty hunter, shrugged and took a backwards step off the cliff, appearing to fall into oblivion. In actuality Kal had simply stepped backwards onto a tree branch that was jutting out of the rock wall, and from there climbed down to a ledge under an overhang so that he was out of site from above. He took a small laser cutter and sliced the tree branch so that it dropped into the canyon, leaving no evidence of it's presence for anyone to see. He sat down, winded. The ledge was a pleasant surprise, he had expected to have to hang her for a while....

((Will you guys stop OOC posting please, your breaking the action here. If you wanna talk about it talk about it in pm))

To Ares the warm signature in his infared visor simply vanished, upon reaching the last known spot of the assailent, Ares found that it ended with a sharp drop off a cliff. Zooming in with his helmet's range finder, the only thing he saw falling was what looked like a branch with a hot glowing end, probably made by some sort of laser or cutting device. There was no sign of a body or any still warm remains of the humaniod figure he had been chasing previously on the desert floor below, so Ares concluded that the hooded sentient must have scaled the cliff wall itself to avoid detection.

Being that, to Ares, the hooded figure was probably nothing more than a ballsy tusken raider who thought it would be funny to steal a bounty hunters kinfe, he had no qualms about killing it. Ares knew full well that his injured leg wouldnt be able to support the combined weight of himself and his armor if he tried to climb down the cliff face, so he decided to do the next best thing.

The bounty hunter pulled five thermal detonators off his belt, tying all their primers together with a piece of det. cord from one of his pouches, and sat the bundle down close to edge of the rocky wall. If he couldnt get his kinfe back, he would blow the one who took it to kingdom come instead, so that no one else would use it. Either way he could always come back if he wanted too and sift through the rubble to get it back. Taking several steps back to clear the blast range, Ares was just about to press the button when he was hit with a particular feeling.

Guilt.

He thought of how the hooded figure had given off no kind of buzzing and that it hadnt even tried to fight him or his friends. It was possible that if, it was indeed a tusken, it might indeed have a family much like the bounty hunters own. The attack on his wife and long time friend was offence enough to die, but something told Ares to stay his hand, for the moment at least. Instead he decided he would try and reason with whatever he had been chasing through the desert night.

With audioble static his exterior speakers on his helmet came to life, amplfying his voice to not only ensure the humanoid could hear him, but to also intimidate if neccessary. " Whoever it was that took my knife- And I know your on the cliff face somewhere- you have exactly 30 seconds to show yourself before I blow the cliff side and make you a perminant part of the desert landscape. " Ares kept his finger on the detonator connected to the det. cord, he didnt want any funny business, and would blow the ridge if he caught any sign of it.

Kal sighed inwardly, damn fool didn't know when to give up. Very well. Kal had been through an explosion before, not something he wanted to do again. Reaching under his robe he pulled out a small durasteel climbing hook and length of fibrechord which he neatly tossed up and over the ledge. Checking it's tension he made sure that the hook had dug into the cliff top before stepping off of the ledge into oblivion. His movement swung him along the cliff wall to the left and up over the top where he landed, crouched, about ten yards from Ares. Kal's hood was pulled down over his scarred face and stood slowly to face the hunter.

Stasha crudely patted the bacta into Shawn’s wound.

“ Whatever Ares was after, He’ll catch.” she said, falling from her crouched position into a cross-ankle’d Indian style.

Hunting fugitives for 20 years may not have taught her subtly but first aid was a skill in which she was adroit.

“And Whatever breaks on you I can fix.” She added distantly.

“I can’t believe they attacked out of nowhere like that…”

What Evie had meant to say was that she couldn’t believe one Tusken would flee after all of the bloodshed his brother’s lent to their cause. Sand people were hardy savage beings, in the opinion of the Zabrak a reason wasn’t needed to spark their aggression- to inspire a retreat however…

“Whatever there is more of out their it isn’t Tusken…” She said, gazing out after Ares path.

" Oh good." Ares said dully as he kept his finger on the detonator while facing the hooded figure. His off hand already had one of his heavy blaster pistols at the ready and pointed at the mystery man.

" At least you can understand basic....."

Gesturing with his pistol, Ares pointed towards the ground for a brief moment.
" Set the knife there, and you can go do whatever the hell you want out in the desert." Although Ares didnt show it, the adrenaline that was keeping his mind focused and sharp through his blood loss was starting to thin, and the severity of it was starting to kick in. He had turned off the warning siren that was informing him of his bloodloss. Of course that didnt mean he wasnt still alert, he still had several minutes before he would start getting blurred vision.

Kal reached into his cloak and then bent down to stick the knife into the dessert ground. Next to it, he placed another knife down, a thin bladed knife, with three edges on it. Designed to be worn up one's sleeve. Very few men in the galaxy used these weapons on a continuous basis, and one of those men had been presumed missing or dead for fifteen years now. Kal Jericho straigtened again and with a jaunty salute gave a tug on the rope leading to the grappling hook which flew from the ground to his waiting hand. He then turned and started hiking off into the empty dessert wasteland. It was only a twenty kilometer treck to his own modest camp, he would be there in a few hours.
