The game began, and as the first contender stepped up fate was not on his side as barrel came to a stop on the slot with the live round. As he fell to the floor, knocked out by the stun bolt, Nymeria gave a glance to twi'lek in the back. As the game continued, the twi'lek walked up to Aden and knelt besides him, holding a rag up to his nose. Laced with a special concoction for just this eventuality, a single whiff would jolt the man back to wakefulness. Of course there would be some discomfort, and a little bit of disorientation, side effects of the good-morning drug he had inhaled. But the twi'lek would help him to his feet and then offer him a drink, a large glass full of Emryc Energy drink with a tiny shot glass filled with wookieemiester floating inside, the perfect remedy for any lingering effects of the ill-fated attempt at the game.

But the twi'lek was given no time as another body thudded to the ground, yet another victim falling prey in the game of chance. She went rushing to the bar, and picked up another drink as the game went on, the Chiss woman having to writhe on the floor a little longer. But soon enough she would be given the same treatment, brought back around and given a drink to bolster their constitution.

Meanwhile Nymeria looked on, sipping on her drink as the game went on. Wondering who would fall next, as the song ended and a fresh track kicked off.

Jabari moved with Nymeria to the music, his hips rolling and body swaying expertly in tune with her own. The combination of the alcohol in his system and the fact that he was dancing with the drop-dead gorgeous Nymeria had Jabari feeling on top of the world.

Or, at least, until the sound of a blaster rang out and some random schmuck bounced off the floor. Jabari went to turn towards the sound, only to be distracted by Nymeria whispering in his ear and gently tapping his cheek. There was an immediate, happy flick of the Tiefling’s tail in response - the grin on his lips spreading a bit wider. “Take all the time you need, beautiful.”

Only once Nymeria had walked off did Jabari actually look to see who got shot. He blinked a few times, finally looked down at the ping he received while dancing, and shrugged it off. Party or not, none of what happened was out of place considering he was running in Syndicate territory. He leaned in a bit further, spotting the half-Firrerreo who had downed the bounty in record time.

His gaze snapped back towards Nymeria as she approached once more, flashing her a wide grin as she issued her challenge. “I’m game,” He flashed the woman a playful wink. “Ain’t gotta worry ‘bout me none.” With that, Jabari sauntered over to the circle with all the others - preparing to take his chances with the stun blaster.

That was, of course, until Jabari spotted both Khalid and.. AMIRA?! The Tiefling hadn’t expected to see any of his siblings around her, and it had been years since he’d heard anything - let alone seen - his older sister. As he took a seat, Jabari couldn’t help but stare at them both wide eyed.

“..’Mira?!” He muttered with a look of comical surprise on his features. His gaze lingered until the old fashioned blaster was finally passed his way - prompting the Tiefling to take it and point it square against his chest. He pulled the trigger and…

Click.

A silent sigh of relief, followed by a smirk towards Nymeria.

Edin simply smiled at her as she took aim and named her terms. The Firrerreo chuckled out loud at her fact, trying to imagine her bashing eight plates of waffles. Sounded like his kinda girl.

He had been stunned before, and it was far from pleasant. However, he wouldn’t let that stop him from playing. After the click resounded, he exhaled in relief, taking another sip of his drink, “Edin Frost,” He stated, pondering on the fun fact. In the end he decided to give her a lopsided grin, “I’m the Basilisk,” He flippantly said so only she could hear. Edin didn’t expect her to believe him. No one in this cantina would believe he was the renowned assassin that killed the Chancellor and a Mon Cala admiral. That’s exactly why it was such a fun fact to share.

“As for teaching you to draw, maybe I’ll show you after taking you out for some late night breakfast?” Edin asked her casually. There was nothing better than 3 am waffles after a night of drinking. The Firrerreo downed his second drink before walking towards her.

“Does one of your interesting facts happen to be that you enjoy dancing, perhaps?” He asked before he extended his hand to her.

Nymeria was not the type to get jealous, at least that was what she told herself. But, she very much was. So when Jabari turned his attention to the skanky little tiefling girl buttering up Edin a flash of annoyance crossed behind her eyes.

"You know," she said with a smile that matched the one he had flashed at her, "it's rude to eye other girls when you're talking to a lady." She stepped up and slipped the gun out of his and, and at a flick of her finger the barrel went rolling again, as she brought it up to aim at his chest and pulled the trigger.

The smile on her face deepened as the click wasn't accompanied with a burst of a stun bolt going off. "Lucky, lucky!" She raised the blaster and held it to the side, letting it get scooped out of her hand for the next contestant, but kept her eyes on Jabari. "If you're not careful, that luck might run out."

"Edin Frost," Amira repeated with a faint smile, his name rolling off the tongue. Now that they were on a first name basis, she scooted closer to him.
Then she paused, tipping her head to one side as if weighing the idea. The Basilisk, really? He couldn't have gone for something a little less over the top, like 'I'm a renowned smuggler' or 'I'm so and so's right hand man'? Secluded for too long on Eriadu and Clak'dor VII, the Tiefling had distanced herself from galactic affairs as a whole, but even she had heard of the Basilisk. The assassin rumored to be responsible for the death of the Supreme Chancellor himself. That was no small feat, and Edin Frost apparently had no small ego. Not that she was complaining. She liked a man with confidence, especially if he was trying to impress her.

"The Basilisk you say?" she asked, adopting the same low tone he had used so no one could overhear their conversation. Yellow eyes sparkled with mischief, the meaning behind her stare obvious even to a stranger— despite playing along with the gag, she didn't believe a word he said. She ran a single finger along his jawline in inspection. "But you're so young, so fresh-faced. Surely this isn't the face of a renowned assassin?"

The Tiefling cleared her throat, leaning in closer. "But since we're swapping secrets, I'll let you in on mine. I'm actually the Sith Empress herself." She nodded emphatically, as if that would sell him on the idea. "I'm a lot taller than the tabloids lead you to believe. A lot prettier, too."

A wide grin spread across her features then, turning on her seat to face him directly. "I never turn down free breakfast either," she answered, just assuming that he would pay. The Tiefling happened to be broke-ish at the moment, something she would need to rectify before she returned to Sith Space in the north. Her hand slipped easily into his after that, wordlessly accepting his offer to dance. "I love it. But sure you can keep up?" @Sreeya

Edin smiled at her response, not at all surprised to find her skeptical. He liked to keep things that way, and it made the truth all the more entertaining, “Oh? What would you expect the Basilisk to look like then?” He asked as he took her hand and led her out towards the floor. He chuckled at her mentioning she was the Empress and far prettier, “No arguments there,” Edin said as he flashed her a wink.

The music picked up and he didn’t care what it was. He began to move to it, swaying and guiding her but also letting her tug him along however she pleased. After a moment he spun her on the floor and pulled her close, her back against his chest. Edin leaned in close, avoiding poking his eye out with one of her horns. The chick was lethal!

“So what does the Empress command of this lowly, petty crook?” He asked with a bit of amusement. One of his hands very gingerly snaked around her waist. Edin largely forgot about the bounty or the game, his focus solely on Amira. He had a feeling he wouldn’t forget this name anytime soon.

Amira followed Edin onto the dancefloor, hands comfortably intertwined like a glove and eyes never straying far from his own. "Definitely the grizzled type," she would answer, promptly slipping an arm around his neck as if she'd done it a hundred times. The Tiefling's fingertips began to play with the hair at the nape of his neck, softly tugging on each dark strand as if searching for one grey hair to match the 'grizzled' description.
"A grisly, ugly fellow of course. A face hardened from all the people he's killed and all the nights spent running and covering his tracks, wondering if it'll be the last job he'll ever do and the last breath he'll ever take." Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "He would probably have big, burly muscles too," she added, squeezing his shoulders to examine them for herself. It was really just an excuse. "Nothing like these." She was teasing him, of course.

While Edin spun her around on the dancefloor and pulled her closer, erasing some of the distance between them, Amira smiled. The Tiefling's tail nonchalantly slunk around the sharpshooter, tousling his hair. '"There's nothing petty about you, Edin Frost, but if you insist." She turned in his arms, facing him straight on. "For such a 'lowly' crook, let's start with something simple. Dip me?" @Sreeya

Edin chuckled as she described what the Basilisk looked like. Was that how people pictured him? He smiled particularly wide when she suggested the assassin would be ugly. He pondered curiously about the other facts, comparing it to himself. The truth was that he had become excellent at compartmentalizing. He was no different than a doctor that treated terminally ill patients. He watched them die, and they left his mind, because there was no other way to embrace the profession. He couldn’t bring work home with him because it could destroy him slowly from the inside.

He felt her wrap her arm around his neck as if it belonged there, cracking a grin again as she teased him about his slender build. He felt his hair brushed playfully, realizing that she was using her tail. Edin remembered all of these tiny details and filed them away, gazing down at her as she faced him. Their faces were much closer now, amusement clear on his expression from her observations.

“As you wish, Empress Amira,” Edin said simply before easily titled her backwards down into a dip. While his gaze lingered on hers with her suspended low like that, he flashed her a fanged grin.

“Perhaps an assassin prides dexterity and discretion above burly muscles,” He said to her quietly. While he did so, she would feel a cool metal brush against her thigh. It traveled slowly along her body till it dragged up her torso and between her chest. It was when she would be able to glance and realize it was the hilt of her saber he had discreetly snagged off her without her knowledge. Edin didn’t shift his gaze from hers, giving her a playful wink before pulling her back up to stand, spinning her into a twirl. Her saber was right back where it was by the time he spun her back towards himself, pressing her against himself. Edin gazed at her, moving and swaying with her as his arm lazily remained wrapped around her waist.

“I don’t need the big muscles when I’m already skilled with what I got,” He said with a grin, a fire burning in his eyes.

To say that Jabari was surprised to see Amira was a severe understatement. It had been a while since he had last seen his older sister, and Takodona - neck deep Syndicate crowds - was the last place he expected to find her. His burgundy gaze lingered on the older Tiefling for a moment or two before shifting to the Firrerreo she was dancing intimately with. Wasn’t that the same dude who had shot Xol moments ago?

Of course, Jabari’s attention didn’t linger there for very much longer. His gaze flicked back to Nymeria when the woman leaned in and spoke. The Tiefling blinked a few times - the cogwheels behind his eyes turning at that moment. Even with the smile that brushed against the Pirate Queen’s lips, Jabari didn’t miss the edge of.. Jealousy? Something that he definitely didn’t expect from the woman. He briefly considered explaining his connection to Amira, but decided it wasn’t worth it. Instead he opted to merely take note and file the woman’s reaction away in his mind for the time being and not something he would forget.

“Forgive my manners, darlin’.”
He said, the charming smile on his lips tugging wide to reveal the Tiefling’s pointed canines. “Any chance I can make it up to you?”

He watched with eyes slightly widened as Nymeria swiped the blaster pistol and leveled it on his chest, his breath pausing for but a moment until she pulled the trigger and.. Click. He chuckled a bit, amusement dancing in his eyes.. He leaned in a bit closer when she mentioned his luck running out - the Tiefling’s pointed tail swaying and coming around to idly brush against her. That’s the fun ‘o it, ain’t it?” The Tiefling glanced over to the left, swiping a pair of full glasses from a passing tray. He slid one across the table towards Nymeria, his gaze firmly back onto the woman and largely oblivious to the rest of the castle for the time being.

Well, it looked like the Tiefling's attempt at saving face was successful, the girl he was talking to asking him for a dance and telling him her name " 'Course, would love ta see what you've got, Iniya." Khalid said with a smile while grabbing her hand once more, a smile on his face while his golden and pink eyes stared at her. Khalid would lead the Zeltron to the dance floor, his eyes still looking at her while he used the force to make sure he didn't bump into anyone just to add to the cool factor.

The Tiefling dancing would start dancing with Iniya, his moves quite small and subtle but well coordinated. The Tiefling had gathered that Iniya would probably want to impress him as much as he wanted to impress her, so Khalid decided to let her take the initiative first, being a bit more passive and simply matching her dance moves "So, may I ask how ya ended up in a pirate party that will probably have more shots fired than a Mandalorian warzone?" Khalid asked, now taking a bit more of a lead as he spun her around and pulled her a bit closer.

Right on cue, more shots would be fired, Khalid's gaze focusing on the place that was playing roulette with a blaster, letting out a sigh as he noticed that Jabari decided to take part of it, knowing that he would probably end up making sure nothing happened to him while knocked out had he been less lucky "Thought that blaster was rigged for a sec...But now I've got an idea... how about I get ya that drink?"

Iniya kept her smile on the tiefling as they danced. "I have an attraction to trouble," she replied as he pulled her closer. Iniya slid her arms around his neck and tilted her head at him. "What about you? You look like you fit in here more, though," she said, reaching up to trace a soft finger along the bend in one of his horns, before dropping her arm back around his neck. They seemed to be seeing who could impress the other more.

When more shots were fired, Iniya glanced over shoulder to see a group of people playing Ruusan roulette. She chuckled softly and turned back to Khalid. "A drink sounds perfect," she said, stepping a pace back right as the song they had been dancing to ended.

Pickpocketing could be added to Edin's growing list of talents. Involuntarily, the Tiefling's astonishment showed—her face an open book for a brief, passing moment. Amira gaped, mouth open and yellow eyes bouncing between Edin and the lightsaber hilt he held like a ricocheting blaster bolt. The dazed look that had spread across her features was replaced with a tentative, building smile as the surprise sunk in and amusement took its place.

"You do like to play dangerous games, don't you?" She leaned in closer, voice low and breath whispering against his neck. "Careful, otherwise you might cut yourself." It wasn't a threat, a fact substantiated by her next remark. "I'm not usually the type to play nurse, but for you, I could possibly be persuaded to make an exception."

Only time would tell. Amira was suddenly very aware of her own heartbeat, and perhaps Edin would be too, given how close they were now. As the dancing proceeded, Amira's hand slipped down, just to make sure he had returned her lightsaber. He was a criminal, after all—of that much she was certain. Still, she had to wonder how he'd known she carried the concealed blade. "I can see that," she would respond, tail still casually playing with his hair. "You're a lot stronger than you look."

Half a compliment, half an insult— just to keep it all from going to his head, to remind him that he wasn't the only one in control here. Yellow eyes wandered the shape of his face, slowly memorizing every detail. "And what else might an assassin pride himself on?" @Sreeya

Khalid raised an eyebrow as the Zeltron talled about her attraction to trouble, his tail going around her and slowly travelling from her back to her neck, caressing it gently as his fanged grin just grew wider "Well, good thing I am nothin' but trouble then." Khalid added with a wink, putting his arm around her hip while she got more and more affectionate "Just havin' some fun before gettin' to work, there's a big bounty 'round these parts and credits are always welcome" The Tiefling cowboy added while leading Iniya to the bar, his arm still around her hip as he did. They had gotten very touchy very fast...Not that he disliked it, to be honest.

On his way there, however, Khalid would come across Jabari properly (@Altaris), putting his free hand on his little brother's shoulder "Do try not ta get knocked unconscious Jaba, ain't feelin' like draggin' yer ass back to yer ship...And we'll have ta talk about what you're doin' here" The Tiefling cowboy told his little brother. Had it been any of his older sisters the one to tell him this chances are he would be scared shitless at the prospect of them scolding him and maybe even telling ma, but Jabari probably knew that Khalid would keep his mouth shut and just wanted to know what his brother was up to. His eyes shifted towards Nymeria afterwards, getting a better look at her and becoming proud about the fact that having game apparently ran in the family "But right now just have fun, I'll see ya 'round."

With that said Khalid would pat Jabari on his shoulder and let him have his fun, taking a few steps away from them. Iniya and Khalid would then come across the unconscious body of Aden Archer (@The Good Doctor), Khalid would then give Iniya another wink before crouching down and putting his hand inside Aden's pockets, not taking too long to find his wallet "Thank you kindly, Archie" The Tiefling cowboy stated as he emptied Aden's wallet, leaving only enough credits for him to take a taxi back to his ship once he woke up...He felt kind of bad about doing this to Aden, but if he didn't do it, someone else would...Actually scratch that, not even a glimpse of remorse, nope.

Wouldn't take them too long to reach the bar again, the bartender handling the drinks giving them a glance as he waited for them to order something "Think they also have some spice in 'ere so...Pick yer poison, pinkie...And mine, I'd like to know what kinda stuff you like after all."

Edin couldn’t help but smirk as he caught her nervously checking to ensure her saber was back where it belonged. He could tell his little sleight of hand completely caught her off guard, and he relished in it. There was a glint in his eye that suggested he wasn’t someone to be trifled with, but she likely knew that the moment she met him. The Firrerreo gave a grin when she quipped her backhanded compliment, once again remarking on his frame.

“The ability to reduce vicious lionesses to purring kittens,” He said as he leaned in closer to her face. He spun the quip right back at her, tightening his grip around her waist and digging his fingers just slightly up along her spine. Edin lingered there for a moment before he drew back and glanced back across the bar before looking at her again.

“So do you want us to keep putting on a show for everyone here or do you wanna get outta here?” He asked as he casually snagged a drink off a passing tray, grabbing one for her as well. It wasn’t in his nature to tip toe - he was a sharpshooter after all.

What Edin Frost might have lacked in size, he certainly made up for in confidence. That self-assured smirk of his was almost enough to convince Amira that he really was the Basilisk—that is, if the idea hadn't been so totally absurd. The Tiefling raised an eyebrow, her long tail slinking back to its proper place behind her. "Well, Edin Frost, this is one lioness you're not going to be able to tame," she declared with clear, unmistakable resolution in her voice—though it was obvious by the way her eyes lit up and stared into his that she certainly hoped he would try.
Stepping away from him as if to somehow prove her point, she would freely admit, "As much as I love being the center of attention, I think it is time for a change of scenery." She smirked, twirling a strand of hair around her index finger as she accepted the drink he offered. "You did promise to buy me waffles."

Grinning and throwing the glass back, the Tiefling slipped her hand into his and led the way across the cantina. Before they could reach the door, however, Amira would make a sudden detour. "Jabari?" she muttered aloud, blinking a few times to make sure she wasn't seeing things. When she was certain she wasn't hallucinating, she pushed her way through the crowd, dragging Edin along with her if he would let her. "Jab Jab!" she squealed, practically bouncing from one foot to another.

'Jab Jab' was what she'd called him when they were kids, because he'd been blessed with the art of gab from an early age and had always loved the sound of his own voice. On that point, they were alike. The Tiefling threw her arms around her younger (and now quite taller) brother, nearly squeezing the life out of him in her excitement. So much time had passed since they'd seen one another—since Amira had seen any of her family. She often fantasized about this moment—fretted over it, too, wondering if the separation would make things awkward and uncomfortable. She was overwhelmingly relieved to discover it hadn't, at least not with Jabari.

"I've missed you so much," she would breathe quietly to him, overcome with a whole host of emotions, her voice faltering. When she finally relinquished her hold on him, any signs of despondency had been buried down deep. In their place, a wide grin spread across her face. "You've gotten so tall! And handsome! What happened to that little beanpole I used to chase around the fields?"

There were a million things Amira wanted to ask him, wanted to say, but she held her tongue and eagerly awaited his response. Except for one small intrdcution. "Jabari, this is Edin Frost. My... friend." She didn't exactly want her little brother to know that she was going out with a man she just met. He was only nineteen, after all. @Sreeya @Altaris

"How lucky," she said as Khalid's tail caressed her neck. She listened to him talk, and he seemed to be on the same page as her; always looking for credits. She stayed quiet as Khalid walked up to who was evidently his brother, the tiefling she had seen dancing with Nymeria. After Khalid left his brother, Iniya let him lead her to the unconscious body of someone she didn't know who had fallen prey to the game roulette. She smirked when Khalid took the man's wallet and rifled through it.

Finally, they made it to the bar. Iniya turned a little, the tiefling's arm still around her waist. She usually didn't drink anything too strong, since she liked to have control over her senses, but she supposed tonight was different. "I'm not picky," she said. "Surprise me,"

Mars continued to watch the party for a bit, quietly sipping her drink. She was surprised no one else had fallen victim to the game of Ruusan Roulette which seemed to be going on, especially when she'd walked into two or three people suffering the stun blows.

"Time to socialize." She felt a little awkward sitting, sipping a drink by herself with so many different people around. Maybe she wasn't the most outgoing, but she wasn't going to sit quietly either.

"I like the purple hair," Mars commented in the direction of a man sitting nearby, drinking something out of a straw (@homewrecker). It was pretty bright and looked to her like it'd been freshly dyed. "Mars," she would then added, offering her name with a smile. He kinda seemed like he was in a bad mood, so if he blew her off, she'd just shrug and leave the bar.

Jabari flashed Nymeria a playful wink, the smile on his lips tugging a bit wider. Of course, the Tiefling didn’t have but a few moments to listen to the woman’s answer before he felt a hand clap against his shoulder. He glanced back, blinking a few times as his burgundy gaze fixed instead onto his older brothers stupid mug. “Ain’t gotta worry ‘bout me none,” He said casually, flashing his older brother a grin - eyes briefly flicking back to Nymeria as he tipped his glass. “Just havin’ a drink with this lovely lady.”

Though his smile didn’t fade, the Tiefling shot his brother a subtle look - the kind that clearly read ‘don’t say no stupid, embarassing shit’. Luckily, his brother seemed to have other plans. Jabari flashed him a knowing look as Khalid walked off with the Zeltron woman, “See ya ‘round, Khal.”

By the time he turned back to Nymeria, however, Jabari clearly picked up on the sound of a familiar voice - and familiar nickname - approaching. His eyes widened a bit as he spotted Amira making her way over, and the Tiefling could’ve help the smile - the kind that went ear-to-ear and practically dripped with excitement and warmth. "Mira!” He wrapped his arms tightly around the other Tiefling, his tail proceeding to whip around happily behind him with rapid movements - betraying his emotions far better than his words ever could. “Missed you too, sis.” He muttered. There were plenty of things he wanted to say and things he wanted to ask his older sister since the separation, but he figured now wasn’t the right place for it.

He lingered in her embrace for a few more moments, squeezing her tightly before releasing. He drew back a bit, preparing to speak.Instead, Jabari couldn’t help but blink a few times at what Amira said next. The Tiefling immediately let out a somewhat embarrassed chuckle as he smiled back at her. “Yeah well, what’d Pa always used to say? Grow like’a weed..” He grinned a bit. “You always look beautiful, ‘Mira.”

She certainly wasn’t wrong in her descriptions - for he had certainly come a long way from the skinny little kid she knew on Bandomeer. Of course, Jabari couldn’t help but internally screech that his older sister had chosen to make that comment while Nymeria was quite literally sitting right there! Come on!

The Tiefling’s attention shifted as Amira went on to introduce Edin - his burgundy gaze flicking over to settle upon the handsome Firrerreo. He had caught a glimpse of the two of them dancing out of the corner of his eye, and he couldn’t help but smirk at the word choice of ‘friend’. He nodded towards Edin. “Good to meet ya.” He said, his smile tugging a bit wider. “Nice shot, by the way.”

Jabari’s gaze didn’t linger for long - turning back to Nymeria finally as he extended a hand towards her. “'N can't forget our lovely hostess, Nymeria.”

Edin chuckled at Amira’s response, “Oh no, Empress, I said nothing about taming,” He grinned at her, “I wouldn’t want you if you could be tamed,” He flashed her a wink as he threw back his drink. He was pleased to learn she was ready to leave - he wasn’t too keen on having so many eyes on him and that was certainly happening with how cozy the two were getting.

He paused briefly when Amira seemingly ran into…a family member? Damn this was awkward. The Firrerreo stood there in silence as she made the intros, simply jutting his chin at the male tiefling in response to the compliment while smiling. One thing was for certain - attractiveness certainly ran in the family. He eyed the man perhaps a touch longer than necessary before his gaze flicked over to the host, Nymeria. Edin had to bite back a grin as Amira awkwardly introduced him as a ‘friend’. But he supposed that sounded better than ‘hookup’ when speaking to a sibling.

Edin would wait for the exchanges to be over before heading out, and he took the time to drop off a sizable chunk of credits for the bartender even if the drinks had been free.

When the game of Rusaan roulette was announced, Barnabus slowly rotated his stool so that he could get a better view of the carnage. It filled Barnabus with a private sort of glee as the idiots in the cantina lined up one by one to blast themselves in the face - infact he actually almost laughed when the second one went down just as fast as the first. But once people started getting lucky and stopped getting shot his interest quickly waned. He swivelled the stool back around to face the bar again and got out his NalPhone, scrolling through Feddit.

What're you doing Hex? You came here to meet people, make connections, get jobs. Stop mindlessly scrolling through your phone. He thought to himself while he continued to mindlessly scroll through his phone. His ears perked up slightly when he heard footsteps approaching him. A figure was now standing beside him at the bar. He ignored them at first.

A compliment came from their direction and, while remaining hunched over his phone, Barnabus slightly rotated the bar stool so that a quarter of his facial features could see the person. He couldn't remember the last time someone had complimented him. "Thank you. I like your....' His pale green eyes gave the person a quick up and down scan. '... Thanks." He leaned down and took a loud, final slurp from his glass, sucking up the last drops of cola. "My name is Hex."

He rapidly sorted through his databank of a brain to try to remember if he had heard of anyone noteworthy in the underworld named Mars before. He had not. Unable to remember how conversations like this continue, Barnabus would rather straight-forwardly blurt out "What do you do?"
