G'wenee, Independent Space, N-6

Hauron Solus entered the cantina frequented by members of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild. There was a colorful array of hunters from all corners of the galaxy most of which looked at Hauron as he strode towards the bar. The urban planet of G’wenee was an ideal place to stop by for a drink or to refuel it seems. The ocean side metropolis reflected the setting sun off the numerous skyscrapers.

The Solus was visiting the planet for two reasons. Firstly, the armored Mikkian was hoping to make some extra credits on the side while he was on G'wenee. Furthermore the Rally Master could possibly search for some starships for Rancor Squadron.

They were close to being able to build starships themselves with the help of Holcomb Garages but after the battle of Kashyyyk and regular work, it was a struggle to remain in optimal fighting condition at all times. Most if not all of Hauron’s personal earnings would probably go towards funding Rancor Squadron if he managed to make any money at all. Maybe the badger would at least find some good snacks before he left the planet and stock up for long patrols

One thing that gave the Mandalorian pause as he came to the counter was there were nine other hunters in the establishment, nursing their drinks or keeping to themselves. Normally this would not be abnormal if it were not for the fact there were two bounties open on separate gangs on the G'wenee. None of the hunters present seemed like they were racing to get out the door and after this potentially easy bounty.

“Hmm” He murmured to himself as he examined the bounty board a bit closer. A voice from a retrofitted crisp-e-o donut droid drew the Solus’s attention. “Can I get you anything to drink today, sir?” The droid spun a shaker, preparing a cocktail for a large Zabrak giving Hauron a sidelong glance. Cassius tea if you have it.” Something was causing his head tendrils to twitch under his helmet. His helmet panned around the room to get a look at everyone now that he was fully inside the cantina.

Jace enjoyed this planet for several reasons - first the exotic food and then the annual Carnival festival. Giant parades with everyone dressed in dazzling attire and it was an excuse to dress in something but the armor. He attended every year and was looking forward to the next festival. He was here now because of the local bounties, but he was also suspicious of the lack of action on it.

Jace had been in the game long enough to know that the threat of retaliation was the only thing that could keep people from chasing after low hanging bounties. There was something else pulling the strings and none of the locals wanted to piss that individual off by meddling with the gangs. He stepped into the cantina and spotted armor he recognized - armor he would be hunting if it hadn’t been recently removed from the bounty boards.

Jace strutted up and took a seat next to the Solus, his vibrant emerald eyes fixing on the visor across him, “Tea? Are you really a Solus if you’re not guzzling down a barrel of ale everywhere you go?” He teased with a grin. Their clans had histories of rivalries, but since the fight for overall survival began after two failed Mand’alors, they didn’t kill one another on sight.

“Mead,” He said simply to the bartender.

"I didn't see my brand and I don't drink tihaar while working." Hauron was half joking. There were a few reasons he had picked tea out of the other beverages. As he said he did not want to get drunk and impair his abilities. But also because anything else seemed to be unappetizing. The water and even the ice maker was probably riddled with bacteria. Drinking cassius tea with his buir had been a tradition of course when Hauron was a kid it was hot coco.

"Then again..." He started. "...I may have missed that they had mead." His helmet turned towards the bartender to change his order. "I'll get a mead actually." The droid stared blankly at him momentarily as it processed the order change, as if judging him for altering his choice. After a few moments the droid would serve the two Mandalorians their beverages though Hauron had a steaming pot of tea that would go unconsumed for now.

Hauron's attention was drawn towards the Mandalorian beside him. The armored individual was resplendent in brown painted plates but he was not wearing a helmet. He was well equipped in terms of weaponry but there were no clear signs of his affiliations. The man's face was more handsome than most people he knew. Perhaps he was even the prettiest Mandalorian he had seen without a helmet.

The Rally Master thought for a moment on what to do. He was not a follower of the Way of the Mandalore. But he knew the pragmatic purpose of concealing one's identity. Ultimatly he decided to doff the helm by reaching up and undoing its seal. Lifting the buy'ce from his head, Jace would see a blue skinned mikkian with crimson eyes in contrast to his own. Hauron's head tendrils were wrapped together and seemed akin to dreadlocks or braids.

<"I'm Hauron Solus. What's your name, brother?"> A smile spread across his face to reveal perfect teeth. The Mandalorian lifted his pint to his lips and drank deeply until the glass was half empty. He could have downed it all in one go but he was not trying to get drunk. He blinked a few times and looked at the mug. Something did not feel right. Was he that much of a lightweight? No it had tasted off. He squinted as his vision blurred. The last remnants of some disolving pill in the bottom of his glass made his eyes widden in horror. Someone had just drugged him. His eyes darted towards the other Mandalorian's drink but he did not see a pill in the bottom of his beverage. Hauron's gloved hand shot towards the opening of his cohorts glass and palmed it just to be safe. "Don't...drink tha- that. Laved... laced." A few of the other cantina patrons began to move from their spots. A few of the Mikkian's tendrils shivered around his head, twitching more lethargically than normal.

“Cheers,” Jace said brightly as the Mando next to him ordered the same drink. He was pleasantly surprised when he took off his helmet as well, revealing the vivid blue skin and alien features. The Hauron Solus. The man, the myth, the legend. He had a bounty on his ass the whole time for having the biggest nuts in the galaxy. Jace never would have expected such a graceful and beautiful face underneath - he imagined all Solus looked like boots. It caught Jace’s attention enough to where he briefly forgot to sip from his own drink. He gave a half smirk at Hauron’s words, “Jace Kryze," He said smoothly, "I don’t want to be brothers, but I wouldn’t mind getting familiar,” He said with a playful wink moments before the other man started practically gagging. He quirked a brow, “Damn, I didn’t think my pickup line was that bad..” He mused before he realized Hauron was on the struggle bus.

Jace didn’t bother with his drink, glancing around as the other hunters began to slowly rise up. What the fuck? He acted as quickly as he could, wrapping an arm around Hauron and dragging him out of the cantina. The others began to act at once, pulling their weapons and firing. Evidently people still had it out for Hauron despite the main bounty being erased. Jace grunted as a bolt grazed his arm where the plates didn’t cover it.

“Get it together man,” He hissed at Hauron who was practically melting against him. Jace stumbled out of the cantina and activated his jet pack to hoist the other man up to a roof where he dropped him like a sack of turnips. Jace shook his head, drawing out his rifle and taking aim for anyone that gave chase.

Hauron's smile widened at hearing Jace's introduction. But it took him a moment to realize what he meant. The wink helped clarrify the meaning. His normal blueish cheeks turned a deeper blue. Then again he felt a lot of his blood rushing to his toes tips, his finger tips, even the veins in his face, he felt the blood pumping through that.

He was suddenly no longer in the cantina. His blaster was in his hand though. A comrade was helping him. Jace was his name.

Hauron desperately clung to the motor functions he could control. He focused on moving one foot in front of the other. For a moment the Rally Master felt heavier and then lighter. But that was just the delayed sensation of intertia before he was dropped onto the roof.

"Uf" He fell into an ungraceful heap. His armor clattering together against the top of the building. "Come...on." He growled only to himself. He knew there was a substance affecting him but he needed to fight through it. "Get angry, Hauron. Come on!" Rising onto all fours, he got one leg under him and then the other. A moment of staggering before the badger steadied himself.

Unhooking a grenade from his belt he began to walk towards where the entrance to the cantina was. The grenade of choice was a non-lethal glop grenade which was underhand tossed over the edge of the roof. It arced down in front of the entrance of the cantina where it promptly exploded its sticky substance around the primary means of escape for the bounty hunters and covering their own if needed.

Hauron was not looking to run from this fight. Instead he drew his second heavy blaster pistol. Blinking a few times, he made sure they were set to stun. Then, waiting for any fools to come rushing out, the Mandalorian swayed at the edge of the roof with dual blasters primed and ready. "Come and get it you cowards!"

Jace was peering over the edge of the roof when he heard Hauron talking to himself and acting like he was trying to activate some sort of optimized form of himself like in a superhero Holo, “Are you straining to pass a kidney stone or what?” He quipped, barely able to focus with the man acting like a hot mess. Jace’s aim was true as he began to pick the hunters off one by one with a steady hand. He knew to keep it on stun to avoid a bounty in this space.

“Okay I think we can-” Jace was about to suggest booking it when Hauron suddenly sprang up with renewed vigor and dropped a glop grenade. And then he started maniacally waving his blasters around. This was the man that survived two encounters with Raze. Did he dance around and confuse Raze long enough to make an escape?

Miraculously the grenade actually worked. Jace aimed and continued firing, every shot hitting exactly where intended. At some point, he reached over to yank Hauron by the back of his clothing because he was teetering too close to the edge of the roof. The grenade combined with Jace’s perfect shooting meant all their would-be attackers were all stunned and out of the fight.

Jace turned to look at Hauron, unable to curb the laugh that came as he clapped his shoulder, “You’re a fucking spazz,” He said as he chuckled, “Can you focus? We need to get outta here,” He said. If Hauron was still unsteady, Jace would let the Mikkian lean against him and use his jetpack to hop over to the next roof to put some distance.

The Mandalorian fired at a few of the bounty hunters. The magnetic accelerators and the normal recoil of the heavy blasters made them buck violently in his hands. But he had practiced with them many times and knew to keep a firm grip and proper form. The badger only fired a fraction of what they were capable of, seeing his targets were also stunned by the aerial comrade.

He kept his eyes on the bodies of the unconcious bounty hunters for a moment. "Karkin..." he remembered he did not have his helmet and spat over the edge. He was pulled back the next second by the cautious Kryze who earned himself a furrowed brow expression from the Solus like he was close to ruining his buzz. But the expression changed to a grin after hearing the compliment. "Hehe you're pretty cool too, Face."

He heard a question and shook his head to clear it. His tendrils wriggling on either side as he holstered one of his blasters. The free hand promptly slapped himself across the face, leaving a slight abrasion where it had connected. "Yeah. I think so. Hold on." He cleared his throat and pulled out a cantinean, drinking water from it. Taking a step away from Jace he stuck a finger down his throat and forced himself to puke. Anything else that had been in his body would get out hopefuly by the unpleasant act. He took another drink of his water to rinse his mouth and spit. "...waste of good mead." more gravely, harsher from the bile hinted at the badger's discomfort. Turning back to Jace, he wiped his mouth on part of the cloth of his undersuit. "How're you doing?"

Under other circumstances, perhaps Jace wouldn’t have minded a test of Hauron’s gag reflexes. However, right now it was downright disgusting. He watched calmly as the Mikkian hurled on the roof and splattered mead everywhere. Jace crossed his arms over his chest, letting the little theater play out before Hauron wiped his mouth off on his clothing.

“Just peachy,” Jace answered calmly with a raised brow after the man finished recovering. He turned and began to walk to the opposite edge of the roof. He stepped right off, using his jetpack to control his descent to the alley below. He would wait for Hauron to land before he started walking again, “What are the odds the local gang leaders purposely mislead locals into believing your bounty was never removed? To distract from their own?”

It meant that hunting these men jumped to the top of the priority list, but he needed to be sure Hauron would be useful. Jace had to admit - the man did some damage while heavily drugged, he was curious to see him in action when he was completely with it.

Everything still felt a bit wibbly wobbly. But with time Hauron knew it would pass. He was feeling good enough to feel embarrassed about this being his first impression with Jace. Looking down he cleaned himself up a bit more.

Rolling his neck, the Group Leader of Rancor Squadron popped any joints in his neck. The badger's blood was pumping still from the fight but it was combated by the sedative. "I'd say fifty fifty." Things were slowly coming into clear focus but distant objects were still fuzzy.

"I don't think they're that dumb. No I uh..." he followed Jace and stopped at the edge. <"...I think they're in league with the local gangs. At least, fifty percent sure. We could ask 'em."> He hooked a thumb over his shoulder towards the unconscious bounty hunters. Kotii knew of a few ways to get answers and there were nine of the so they could practice plenty. <"How good are you at interrogating?"> To most he was a guardian of space ways, a do good Mando. But the brutal side of a Solus was rarely revealed to the public thanks to the Mikkian's discipline.

Jace shrugged vaguely in response, “I usually shoot first, ask later,” He stated flatly. Interrogation sounded like a good starting point. The Kryze walked back towards where they took out their attackers, though he wasn’t sold on the idea. Going back sounded like a great way to get ambushed by reinforcements. They had a small window to operate and glean the most intel they could.

The two would find one of the hunters groaning as he started crawling on the ground. Jace grabbed him and tossed him into an alley.

“Start talking, are you in league with the Wamps or Deucs?”

“I’m not telling you-”

Jace took off the stun and shot him in the leg mid-sentence. There was an agonized howl of pain that was muffled by the Kryze pressing his gauntleted hand to his face. He removed the hand, listened to the hunter’s stream of profanity and waited patiently.

“Okay okay! Neither! The two gang leaders..they’re working together..They’ve been holed up in a warehouse in the Yellow District..We were paid to look out for anyone that may come after them and were told to take ‘em out.”

Interrogation: 13/20

There were plenty of hunters still adhered to the ground in front of the cantina. Authorities would eventually arrive so they had at least ten minutes, give or take. Response times to a call just outside a bounty hunter's cantina with two Mandalorians might lead to a delay in their arrival. The urgency of the situation was not lost on Hauron.

"Stick around." The man muttered the terrible joke to the eight remaining sprawled bodies. Jace picked out one of the few unstuck and easily roused from his state.

The Solus's red eyes looked at Jace only momentarily then shifted his focus on the hunter in question. His expression hardened, into a dangerous look that reinforced the threats of the Kryze. He did not need to say anything because the handsome warrior was convinced the would-be assassin to tell the truth. Hauron's expression changed to one of indifference, perhaps disgust towards the man that had targeted them.

"I think that's all I need." It was quick and efficient. "I'll ask one of the other ones the same thing. If they give us a different answer then we can cut their trigger fingers off." He pulled a fusioncutter from his belt and began walking towards the group of unconscious hunters.

"No-no wa-wait I'm telling you the truth. I swear! They both must have ties to the syndicates. They're wicked outfitted. Souped up swoops, armor, blasters, even some super battle droids guarding their hideouts."
The Mikkian had stopped and looked towards his half-twi'lek counterpart. The interrogated bounty hunter was injured and seemed to be telling the truth. There was no need to remain unless Jace wanted to ask a few more questions.

Cut their trigger fingers off? Hauron Solus was full of surprises. Jace had to keep from grinning, watching the man interrogate the other mook before they decided the stories matched up. The Kryze wasted no time, walking away from the scene as he heard sirens in the distance. Ties to the syndicates sounded sticky and Jace wasn’t sure how involved he wanted to stay.

The streets were calm as he turned a corner and kept walking, “Still wanna chase this?” He asked Hauron. Jace drew out his e-cigarra, placing it between his lips before he started blowing out a cloud of bubblegum flavored smoke.

“I don’t know shit about the Yellow District,” Jace mused. It was a party district - loud, obnoxious, full of casinos and nightclubs. And apparently some sketchy warehouse.

With the interrogation over Hauron left the scene with Jace. Before they left, the Mandalorian collected both his and Jace's helmet. The Solus handed the bucket over to the handsome Kryze as they walked. He straightened the braid like tentacles on his head and they flattened against his scalp as he donned his own helmet again.

"Absolutely." The badger's voice was heavy with conviction and still rough from earlier. "Yeah, I'm pissed." He admitted aloud to himself just as much as Jace. He had recovered from the drug mostly and it was not the worst feeling, but hopefully it would all be gone by the time they made it to the Yellow District.

The nose of the Mandalorian caught a wiff of the cigara. At first he thought it was a strange flavor but then he found his mouth watering slightly. It was better for him to not indulge yet. He had just done that with the mead and look what happened. "That makes two of us. It'll be an adventure." This was the first time Hauron had been to the world so every district was new to him. But he could extrapolate what kind of environment it was. It was the type of place he would have liked to visit when not working. He focused that frustration into thinking about how to deal with their situation.

"The Deucs and Wampas'll be on high alert soon enough. Chances are they have friends in the local police too. Everyone here might be corrupt." He shrugged like it made no difference because in his mind it didn't. The badger did not care. "But we can move fast and try to hit this warehouse before they lockdown...or we can scout them out first. What do you think?" They both had jetpacks or could get alternate means of transportation. Hauron knew how to hotwire an airspeeder in a pinch.

“An adventure?” Jace chuckled as he looked over at Hauron. He seemed eager and it was almost endearing. The Kryze rolled his eyes, the smile lingering on his face as he took another drag from the e-cig. He took the proffered helmet that Hauron collected for them both, though he still didn’t bother donning. Jace’s face was entirely too beautiful to keep hidden behind a visor.

“I think they’ll be waiting for us at the warehouse,” Jace said, “At the very least we need to see how guarded it is before we go in guns blazing,” He said with a smirk, “I know that’s your style,” He gave Hauron a wink, “Since it’s all indoors, I want to make sure we’re not fucked the moment we breach.”

Jace was distracted from his thoughts as he began to pass by the bass thumping at nearby clubs. As a huge party animal, he started to change his gait, rocking to the beats as they walked. A part of him wanted to burst into a club and get fucked up, but Hauron seemed too pissed to focus on anything but the mission.

“That should give us a good vantage point,” He said as he pointed to a rooftop that looked towards the alley where their attackers had indicated the warehouse would be.

Hauron smiled, taking Jace's comment as a compliment. The badger could not argue with his track record. "We could just take out all the walls...then everything would be outside. But perhaps you are right." He jested and grinned, not being able to help it after seeing Jace smile.

As they walked into the Yellow District he heard the sounds of partying and merriment. The reverberations of the bass had an infectious effect and everyone in the area seemed to be living life to the fullest. His visor reflected the bright lights and alluring signs. The Solus found his head turning, not because he was looking for bounties, but because he found himself distracted by the various attractions.

Hearing Jace's smooth cadence pulled him from the distractions. His helmet tilted upwards to see where he pointed. "Oya" He headed towards the building looking for a quiet and discrete way to the roof. Using their jetpacks would attract extra attention and Hauron wanted to also conserve fuel.

They were on the roof and Jace was still thinking about the idea Hauron pitched in jest. Truth be told, Jace had a penchant for being loud, obnoxious and a rancor in a nova crystal shop. He was normally surrounded by tempered Mandalorians that always focused on discretion and sneaking around. The stories he heard about Hauron’s exploits always sounded ridiculous but also…liberating.

Jace was lying prone, looking through the scope of his rifle to spot for movement. He spotted cargo speeders coming in with shipments of some sort. They were heavily armored and disappeared round a back exit at the warehouse. Already he could see a few armored figures gathering near the entrances. They were trying hard to look nonchalant and casual, but Jace knew it was in preparation for the Mandalorians that got away.

“So how’d you get to having balls of steel?” He asked abruptly, his gaze still fixed through the scope, “You and your pops are some of the craziest sons of bitches alive,” He chuckled to himself, exhaling another cloud of bubble gum.

Hauron took stock of his equipment after they reached the top of the building. Jace took sniper position which only made since due to the face he had an actual blaster rifle. His Galaar carbine with scope was far more suited for the job. The Solus on the other hand was equipped with a sonic rifle. He was kicking himself for not taking a weapon that packed more of a punch but then thought better of it. He needed to be prepared for a hostile force sensitive at any moment.

Taking a pair of macrobinoculars from his kit he acted as the Kryze's spotter. His eyes could not help but be drawn to the half-twi'lek's buttocks. Thankfully Hauron was classy and did not linger his gaze but proceeded to think about the view in his minds eye for the next few moments.

Zooming in on the guards and defenses, he lowered the macrobinoculars for a few seconds. He cocked an eyebrow at hearing the peculiar question from Jace and the way he asked it. It earned a chuckle from the badger. "Thanks. I guess Solus just naturally have beskar balls." Most of the galaxy knew that Kotii was a near human and Jace had seen Hauron's face so hopefully he gathered the man was adopted. The truth was he just felt like a normal Mandalorian, doing his best to stand up to his own expectations.

"You've got some moves yourself." He raised the macrobinoculars again to his visor. "Where'd you learn to fight?" The man did not want to hold any assumptions about the Kryze's history.

Jace saw more armored men starting to gather at the warehouse and he knew picking them off one by one was going to be worthless. He looked over when Hauron answered, already making up his mind on how he wanted to approach this. Hauron’s question, however, caught him off guard, drawing out a genuine smile instead of the usual flirty casual, “My father,” He used the term to designate adopted father, “He taught me everything he knows. Admittedly I’m a lot more reckless than he ever was..”

He looked back at the warehouse and moved back to crouch, “You know what, Hauron? I think I wanna do this the Solus way,” Jace said simply with a playful wink before he popped his helmet back on.

With that, he aimed his wrist and unleashed a rocket right at the engines of one of the cargo speeders that had just arrived and didn’t look armored. The result was a loud explosion as the engines combusted and the fuel began to seep. A fire started at once and began to blaze. Jace had aimed where several gang members had been standing around looking menacing, so they were all on fire.

“Keep up, baby,” His modulated voice called out teasingly to Hauron as he shot through the air with his jetpack, whipping out his twin pistols in favor of the rifle. He zoomed low enough to strafe at the men that were rushing out to check out the commotion. The heavy stun would drop them and leave them convulsing on the ground.

Jace curled up himself up in the air and barreled right through a window, smashing through the glass. He crashed out through an adjacent window, a massive explosion erupting behind him from the thermal detonators he left there. The building’s foundation began to cave and he zoomed past Hauron, playfully shoulder checking him as he passed, flipping in the air to shoot someone that was aiming to fire at the Mikkian.

No inside fighting if no walls.

"I'm sure he'd be proud." Jace's answer made Hauron compare himself to his own father silently. He could not help but feel he was more cautious than his dad but thinking that also made Hauron worry he was just as reckless. Maybe his father had thought he had a level head and good judgement in the moment before a mistake. The Mandalorian was resolved to doing his best regardless.

The Solus was no stranger to being bold, crazy by even other Mandalorian standards. But he was a little concerned about the look in Jace's eye. Then again it excited the Solus. Hauron tilted his head, eager to hear what he had in mind.

Hauron's expression changed to equal parts being surprise and impressed at Jace's maneuver. His visor looked at the explosion and subsequent blaze. "Oh kark" A chuckle escaped the mandalorian's mouth. It turned into a giggle as he realized that the flaming targets were technically going to live. Bacta was an amazing medicine, hopefully the prison they were going to had those kinds of resources.

"Right behind you." He hollered and quickly rocketed into the sky after the Kryze. The Rally Master drew both of his westar-55s. It seemed the two mandalorians had a similar style and preferred dual pistols. The Rally Master fired accelerated stun bolts into one gangster after another, covering Jace's flight path as he drew attention.

Two super battle droids fired blaster bolts and several gangsters tried to lend their blasters to the fire fight in a hastily rallied firing line. The Mikkian rotated his wrist and fired his wrist rocket which streamed through the air and exploded, destroying the two battle droids outright. The gangsters yelled and dove for cover but the mandalorian saw a few of them accelerate further away from the blast.

Jace was not idle and the building was fast becoming insuitable for habitation. More gangsters exited the warehouse similarly armed and armored to the thugs outside though some of them looked to be caught off guard. The Mikkian held his fire and spun in a circle momentarily from the shoulder check before stabilizing himself. He knew it was not meant to get him off balance otherwise he would be in a much different situation. If Jace had wanted to tackle him he would have.

Hauron capitalized and continued to fire displined shots from overhead. Even over the sounds of combat, the howl of swoop bike engines reached the badgers ears. "We might have company soon." Members of the gang that had been on patrol or out doing errands were probably coming back. The Solus reloaded with expert ease, getting into the grove of battle.

Jace was in his element - in the air and causing absolute chaos. He was known as the bull or cavalry in his clan and he lived up to those sentiments. He heard Hauron mention company and looked over to spot the swoop bikes zooming into view.

“Wamps and Deucs, it’s a party!” He called out cheerfully, seeing both insignias as the bikers whirled in. With them came heavier fire power, and Jace attempted to stop the advance. He fired a shot at one of the bikes, sending it veering and crashing. Caught up in the moment, he didn’t notice that one of the Duecs had come around an alley to flank them. The man fired a rifle at Jace, the heavy bolt hitting the Mandalorian squarely and shooting him out of the sky.

Jace grunted from the hit, sent spiraling and through a random window off to the side. He switched off his jetpack, skidding to a halt on his back to the sound of screaming. He managed to crash through an apartment building and into the living room floor of a family that was watching a drama movie. There was a husband, wife and their two teenage children, all staring wide eyed at the injured Mandalorian on their carpet.

Jace was still smoking from his body where he took the hit, staring up at the ceiling. He coughed and sputtered, looking over at the Holoscreen, “Don’t feel bad for the girl, she just wanted him for his money,” He said about the movie as he stumbled up to his feet. He could hear crashes and chaos outside in the distance and he had to get back into the game. The injury was bad despite his attempts at ignoring it.
