Dr. Prospero, Lawyer/Internet Asshole, searching for a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all humans have. Then an accidental overdose of gamma radiation interacts with his unique body chemistry. And now, when Prospero grows angry or outraged, a startling metamorphosis occurs...

HM. HULKERO INTEREST.

...

So he must let the world go on thinking that Prospero is dead, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

I am not a very big lord of the rings fan, but if you'd be willing to tolerate a noob like me in this game, I'd be happy to take part.

So morgoth and his forces, would they have the other races of men who worked for sauron working under him? After all, I assume gondor is a target that will be offered up for sacking. Or will our quest require the near impossible task of getting all the races of men to cooperate as well to help stand and fight against this threat?

If we do go the old Morgoth route, rather than reintroducing him under the suggested pseudonym, then men won't really be involved. That was mainly a war for Elves and Dwarves I think; I know men were in some of the battles, but they didn't play as big a part.

I was just looking for clarity on the "all the armies" part of the current plot suggestion idea. I'm not really sure what you mean by the old morgoth tbh. Are you talking about a prequel to when he was defeated?

Yes, I mean during the the war for the Silmarili. Not when he comes back in the 4th age

So finally what is the setting for this? I'm interested anyways, but if I know the setting then I know exactly what kind of character I can start imagining in my head when I'm trying to pass time at work. :P

I don't think it has been decided yet; I know there was interest in Rom hosting, and he wanted it to be before the Lord of the Rings and after (I think) the Hobbit. Currently, I think Ush wants it in the Fourth Age when Morgoth returns, by the sounds of things. I agree with an alternate, post war of the ring setting; that seems to be the way it is currently going.

Sounds like we need to be presented with some solid plot options, and vote on them, or something to that effect.

Then maybe we can set up an OOC thread where we can get a roster going. We could still use this one for detailed plot discussion.

Well, I did play a hand in getting people thinking about this again, so I will try and find out what is going on here for you all.

Jesus people, give me a chance.

Some of the Elves haven't left, of course. Cirdan still resides in the Grey Havens, and as he'll be the last one to go we can assume others are still out there. Contingents will remain in Imladris, Lindon and Mirkwood. Lorien's deserted.

Right, plot so far. The Void opens somewhat, allowing a number Balrogs to break their way through to our world. With them, another entity emerges named 'Shade' by the people of the Old Ford, mostly men. However, the powers that were used by the Shade were described to Lord Elladan of Imladris (Elrond went over to Valinor and Elrohir has chosen a mortal life) and he has, in turn, described them to Cirdan the Shipwright, who then declares that these powers were very similar to Morgoth's. Fear gripped the Elves who remembered those days, and emissaries were sent to all the kings of Middle-Earth.

And that is what we, ICly, will know.

OOCly, the Eight (Witch-King is dead, dead) have been resurrected and now re-gain their strength in service of their new master, Morgoth. Orcs have begun to flock to Angmar in huge numbers, and through their immortal eyes Morgoth has learned of what has happened in the many hundreds of years he has been sleeping. The emissaries were slaughtered as they traveled, and the kings have only sent delegates when Cirdan originally asked for armies. Now these emissaries, our characters, head to the Grey Havens.

If you don't want to be important to a king, you can simply say that your character was one of the many who passed the message on in a massive game of Chinese whispers, and now head to Lindon and Mithlond to see what's going on.

Any issues with this?

I wanted to have a young-ish Elven character, around 250, in Eregion who was a shipwright or a blacksmith. Now that I have heard this, would it be cool for him to be with Cirdan in the grey heavens? He is a shipwright after all! ;P

Yeah, sure, the Grey Heavens is the largest Elven settlement in Middle-Earth, after all.

What age, may I ask? Galadhrim, you must understand, were either the elite of the Lothlorien armies or just Sindarin Elves living in Lorien. Which was it?
