Alright. Well I'll do some discussion here:

I am definitely thinking about using the wizards as some sort of plot device. Perhaps a split between the two blues and sort of sides get picked. Idunno. Still all in the works.

I like the idea of giving the blues some love.

Hmm. We can have two different smaller and connected campaign going on, pretty much like the Fellowship after Amon Hen, one involving a more party-like questing, while the other is more warfare and adventuring or somesuch, you know what I mean. Those who want could chase the blues while others stay in the western parts to draw the bigger picture. It doesn't really have to be those two, by the way, from what I have seen in the wiki, Radagast is also missing, never heard of. It could save us from walking to the other side of the world, and solves the issue of returning to West in time. Getting some other crazy ideas also. I will share a few more of when I have the time.

Blues can stay in whatever dark pit they are rotting, the friend of the animals is our companion. radagastfanclub.

As Vulpes is no longer able to do this, I'll be taking over.

We need to decide on a plot. Straight out, I want Morgoth to be in it, as well as the Nazgul and Balrogs. Does anyone have any objection to this?

Morgoth is locked away in the Void after the Host of Valinor defeated him. How do you plan for him to be part of this??

According to the prophecy, he would escape the void at the end of the world and fight the last battle against the free races of middle earth. Nazgul are dead, as their life force was directly tied to the ring of power, which was destroyed, killing them with it. And the Balrog that Gandalf killed was the last of its kind according to the silmarillion.

Edit: And, according to Tolkien, middle earth is just earth in the far past, so I think its safe to assume that morgoth was beaten and at minimum the race of men survived.

Yes, he did, all of that is true. But you forget. We are trying to make a Lord of the Rings RP here. Not a medieval fantasy RP. Tolkien also says that Dwarves die out, Hobbits disappear and Elves leave. But that's just boring to do, isn't it, if we're all humans?

That is why I suggest some changes.

Morgoth isn't back through the gates. A mere shadow of him is, and he's created a body for himself. While no where near as powerful as his old one, the one still locked in the Void, he is still a very prominent threat. He's powerful enough to weaken the gates and allow several of the Balrogs to return. After hearing of the Nazgul, he resurrects all of them but the Witch King, who's too dead to come back. Now with his eight agents, he is trying to bring the Orc hordes back to him. The main goal will be to summon all the armies of Middle Earth to defeat him and destroy the Shade, which he is now known as by the common folk, before he can return fully.

Any major problems?

I like that idea. Let the horns of the Lossoth be heard in battle ;)

I'd definitely be up for this, big LOTR fan!

Question: Would we all necessarily have to be on the same side? Or would RPing Morgoth's minions (obviously not balrogs etc lol) be an option?

It depends on how many people we have. I would love if someone was able to play an Orc Captain, or a Nazgul, but it all depends on whether we get enough people or not.

Cool, well I shall keep an eye out. Playing a Nazgul would be a most enjoyable challenge.

Well, I still maintain some of my earlier points that I brought up in the Hobbit thread that I let get... well a bit off topic. I think the 'Shade' idea is really cool; Rom expressed interest in working within the Lore, so to speak, but I would definitely rather take on our own challenge like this.

I think it'd be really cool if some Elves elected not to go to Valinor/Undying Lands, and instead have set up shop in Ergion, along the river. Maybe with a fort at Redhorn Pass? I have and Elven character in mind I really want to try!
