I imagine we have at least a couple big fans of Tolkien's work, and I was curious if anyone was interested in a Diverse RP about the Middle-Earth universe. It'd probably be after the Third age, and I'm going to go throguh the movies again before I do anything with it. I was looking for a few other people or a public discussion on what it could be about. I'm looking for a larger conflict that needs to be resolved, so that way people will maintain interest in the RP longer. I want it to be something that'd last a while...

...Who would be interested? Before i went out of my way and began to work on it/Recruit people to help with story.

LotR fanatic here. Perhaps Gondor and allies battle against a new threat from the east. Some Black Numenorean that threatens the peace middle-earth has had since King Elessar.

As you can see, I's be in.

Huge tolkien fan, and I'd totally be up for this. Something long term could be the citizens of middle earth dealing with the loss of the elves and wizards, and the consequences that the magic withdrawing would bring.

It's purely genius. With the lose of the 5 wizards (
Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast, and 2 blues) and most of the elves heading west evil spreads.

Another huge LoTR fan here.

I'm thinking, weren't the two blues lost and never heard of ever again? Perhaps a group of unlikely adventurers come together, and start a quest to find them which would of course feature them heading deep, deep into the east. And the reason behind the quest would be, I imagine, to perhaps cure the loss of magic, and maybe new goblin warlords are threatining the peace and the powers of the east are on the rise again, recovered from their defeat.

I'd totally be down for this. I don't have much to offer in the way of a story, but you can count me in once it's up.

Sisk's idea sounds pretty solid.

Best place to set it would be Eriador, hands down. Gondor, while cool at first glance, basically forces you to play Men. And I doubt too many of us want to play them. Eriador, on the other hand, is the cross-roads of the world. Dwarves can be passing between their kingdoms, Elves can be headed for the Grey Havens, Men can be doing boring men stuff in their short lives. Even the men of Harad and the Easterlings could have an excuse, trying to set up a new life as fair from their own lands as possible. Also, it's where the Hobbits live. Gotta have them Hobbits.

On top of this, I imagine a fair few people would want to play Dunedain. The Ithilien Rangers wouldn't be too happy about their northern cousins barging in.

My personal idea would be Morgoth attempting to force his way back into Middle-Earth. With the Elves all but gone and the wizard's passed from this world, he'd have an easy job of it. Maybe he resurrects the Nazgul as step one of his plan to return to Middle-Earth, knowing they served Sauron? If we set the time right, say, a hundred or so years into the future, most of the canon characters would be dead and the others will have left. We could leave Cirdan, who's leaving on the last ship to Valinor, to act as an Elrond figure. He is over fifteen thousand years old, after all.

If we say that Orcs are like Elves in that they are immortal unless killed by a disease or in war, they could tell Melkor, who may have already entered the world in an intensely weakened state, what has transpired in the three and a half ages since he was bollocked and tossed into oblivion. He could spend much of his remaining strength raising the Nazgul and then setting them out to recover the remaining Rings of Power. That would be a cool story, especially if Cirdan leaves his ring (Gandalf having returned it before he left) with the party. They could run and fight the Nazgul as they travel.

I support this. I'd make a Lossoth(I've been fascinated with the Lossoth of Forochel)

I want to be a part of this. I haven't seen the Lord of the Rings since I was like six years old, so I don't remember/know anything about it. I started watching it this weekend though, so that's lucky timing on my part. It's so great! On par with Star Wars if you ask me. I can't really offer much for plot as of yet, since I'm not as familiar with the context, but I think it'd be cool if there was a civil war or something and then evil emerged mid-war so it's like a dual conflict with multiple layers. I don't know, but I think that'd be cool and it could add some intrigue to the story.

It'll be open. Anyone can join, as long as they post a character sheet. I'll try and hammer out a story in the coming week
