Grabbed mine on Saturday. It's a good read, hell of a cliff hanger. I really like Kanan.

Ugh. I hate it when comics bold words to show importance even though we know it's important because they just said that's what the plot was.

Its the Same As capitalizing Random Words in a Sentence.

This is the best first issue of the new comics so far. I loved it. It has a great old west and samurai vibe to it. Depa Billaba is a pretty great character, and there are even hints to her Legends story (which was kinda dumb so hopefully canon makes it better if they go into it). Young Caleb is a pretty good character so far, yet still quite a bit different from the man he will become. It'll be interesting to watch him make the transition from young Caleb Dume to rebel Kanan Jarrus.

The art was top-notch. As Gaba and I were talking about a day or two ago, so much is conveyed through the art. Especially through the scene where Depa and Caleb are training in Form III at the top of a mountain.

The clones, as usual in canonical Clone Wars stories, are great too.

Oh yeah, the art is great. Love it.

I got the first (I think the only so far?) issue at WonderCon this weekend and I really enjoyed it. The writing was decent, I like the artist's style, and the layout was compelling. It had everything a strong first issue needed, complete with a cliffhanger that had me cursing like a sailor for Issue 2. Out of all of the recent Star Wars New Canon publications, this one stands at the top.

What was so dumb about Depa Billaba's Legend's story? I never read it.

What was so dumb about Depa Billaba's Legend's story? I never read it.

She fell to the dark side and then was put into a coma and her story was never resolved.

Lots more details than that but it had to do with Vapaad and Mace Windu so mehhhhh.

Mehhhhh indeed.

Mace Windu aside, unfinished stories are always a shame. She seems like quite a character too, so I'm glad we'll get to see her story finished here in this series.

Finished Issue 2. Really getting interesting, and the signs of Caleb slowly turning into Kanan. This one ends on another cliff hanger though. No surprise. A good issue though.

I liked the "Good soldiers follow orders." It was a nice nod to the events of TCW. I'm actually digging this series quite a bit. Almost as much as the Vader book.

Great issue. This series, so far, is the best of the new comics by far.

Haven't checked this out, but so far I've been underwhelmed by all the new comics I've read.

Yea.

I feel like a lot of them feel similar to TV "filler" episodes, where nothing of significant import happens but the producers needed an episode to meet the series order. This has, notably, only been for the comics. The books have been pretty damn good, except for Heir to the Jedi. I feel that, historically, Star Wars comics have done the best when dealing with either original or side-characters from the old higher levels of canon. The series that focused on the film heroes often fell flat.

I understand the desire to, at least initially, have a laser-focus on the heroes of the films and TCW going in to VII, but I don't like it. I'll read the books/watch the movies if I want to know what Luke is up to. That's where those heroes work the best. All that said, I'm interested in Kanan - The Last Padawan, as a) I love Rebels, and b) it's the first comic to focus on a non-film character.

So far, I've found the Vader series to be kinda boring. I like the Star Wars series, because I'm interested in Luke's progression as a Jedi and the fact that, according to Marvel, he'll be learning more and more about Anakin. Which will make things interesting for Episode V, since we'll know what, exactly, the "I am your father" revelation tore down in Luke's head.

I love the Leia mini-series.

I think the Darth Vader series is so far my favorite. Other then him being my favorite character aside from Boba Fett, I love the work he is doing and opperating without Imperials. I also like Doctor Aphra.

The Star Wars series, so far, I am really liking. It just feels like a real Star Wars adventure.

Kanan, I also like, and to me is a far more interesting character/Jedi then Ezra is when it comes to "Rebels".

Leia... I liked a little, but the last issue was quite... boring.

I'm looking forward to the Lando series.

Yes and no. The Legends story may serve as inspiration, but it's not the same story. So it doesn't resolve anything from Legends, it just introduces a similar concept into canon.

Oh Bac. Ya haven't changed a bit.

Any woo Kanan 8 preview teaser mentions an attack on the Jedi Temple. I wonder if it's the same one as hanger bombing in Clone Wars season 5?
