http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2011/12/pot_legalization_signatures_to.php

The ACLU-backed group pushing to legalize and regulate the recreational use of marijuana, is expected today to turn in more than 355,000 signatures to the secretary of state's office. If validated, that's more than 100,000 signatures necessary for Initiative 502 to be certified

If passed, the law will make it legal for anyone over 21 to buy up to an ounce of dried marijuana and put the state in charge of licensing and regulating it by creating a network of state-licensed growers, processors and stores. It would also impose a 25 percent excise tax at each stage.

So...who here that lives in washington state wants a room mate?

States can make it legal all they want. Marijuana dispensaries are almost as common as gas stations in California. The problem is that it's still an illegal substance under Federal law, so until that gets changed, the Feds can still arrest and charge you for possession of it, whether you bought it "legally" in your state or not.

Say things less silly next time. :CStern

They've been known to bust Dispensaries from time to time, and they can and will prevent you from holding government jobs. It's not as silly as you make it out to be.

Shut up and hit this swag dro, dawg. Just relax- the DEA has yet to bust cyber pot as far as I'm concerned.
As for actual reality- burning down some forests soon.

Pot from a legal shop is bound to be very expensive. Unless it became legal to grow your own plants for personal use, I wouldn't really be interested in this...

pfft i don't think so at all-

You legalize pot nation-wide and add a tax to it, our economic situation gets a liiitttle bit better.

Those taxes are exactly what I'm talking about. Legal pot will always be more expensive than street pot. The same way alcohol from a liquor store is more expensive than moonshine.

I'm just saying, one might as well stick to illegal pot... It's very widely available anyway. :l

it's been tossed about that it could pump well over a billion a year into the state... note that the taxation and regulation of it wont only apply to consumable amounts; it would also fall to any and all byproducts. This includes the textile industry as well as a few others ( which many point to the textile industry as the reason the plant was banned in the first place during ww2)
The state would also have direct control over hand picking growers and regulating quality and such... This comes up nearly every year and gains more and more support every year, even in the state offices.

I'll pay a little extra not to risk prison rape :/

Personal use of pot is pretty easy to get away with... Unless you want to smoke in the middle of town or something, but that will probably still be illegal anyway.

many states have laws that make it so that small amounts on your person for use is perfectly legal. I think that it usually only allows for a nickle at most, or some small amount like that.

Here, no amount is actually legal, but it doesn't really matter. Unless you're running a grow-op, you have pretty much no chance of facing any more legal trouble then a modest fine, and if you're smart about where you smoke then you are pretty much guaranteed never to pay that fine.
