Those taxes are exactly what I'm talking about. Legal pot will always be more expensive than street pot. The same way alcohol from a liquor store is more expensive than moonshine.

lolwat? No it isn't. If pot is legalized it'll be cheaper than street. It's so expensive BECAUSE it's illegal. Only in the first world is an ounce $200+. Everywhere else it's much cheaper because it is not expensive to grow and harvest.

The moonshine example is a false one. It's not a simple thing to make quality vodka. However, it is very easy to grow, for example, dank, quality White Widow in your basement, and, if you get the same seeds as a dispensery's supplier (not hard to do), it'll be identical to what you can get in a dispensery.

Fact of the matter is, if pot is legalized, even if it is controlled by the Federal government (being Canada, 'cuss Viggy and I are canucks), it WILL be cheaper then what you get on the streets. If it isn't, guess what? No one is going to go to legal dispenseries.

The **** you smokin' bro?

Thats one of the top selling dispensiaries in Colorado. It's non-profit and theres the appropriate taxes and red tape for you, and the prices are waaaay cheaper than street prices here. 30 dollars for an 8th of dank? Try 65-70 here.

Furthermore, pot is way easier to grow than moonshine is to make. If you're just looking to have a steady supply, you just plant a seed, water it, and give it the appropriate amount of sunlight/darkness cycles. Just. Like. Any. Other. Plant. So not only can you get cheap dank strands from the dispensaries in legal states, you can grow from the seeds you get from those dank strains, for around 120 dollar start up cost to run a 4 plant grow operation and produce quality bud.

Sorry Viggers, you know I love you, but you are mistaken on this one mate.

Edit: **** you Nexus. **** you.

No I pay 65-70 for street prices. Re-read what I typed. I don't live in a medical state, thus 65-70 here.

No, I mean your dispensery price ($30 for an 8th) is our (Canada, specifically Ontario) street price.

EDIT: Admittedly my post was confusing.

I can get it free if I wanted too....there are plants growing all over the national forests >.> Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm free BC gold. Actually I think my sister in law has a plant growing in her back yard over in the great lakes area from a previous home owner and the feds missed a plant or two....

back on the point of hand. Tax wise It would be less than the going street value, also tax all uses for the plant and stuff WA's pocket and cut back on spending for law enforcement. Thats why the whole idea has huge backing growing in the state house.

the issue still comes with the federal level though...state rights my ass... Even though WA is a medical use state the feds will still crack down on medical supplies periodically, and it pisses the state off when they do. Again it comes back to a funny ban that made no real sense around ww2 and alot of propaganda that has been disproven a thousand times over, and shows that pot is actually less harmful to the body than booze and has similar effects at worst...unless it's laced, but a stat controlled crop wont have that issue.

I think the chief of WA's state patrol actually said something along those lines last year when the measure was first introduced, and I know thre has been quite a lot of backing of it coming from parts of the DA's office and other portions of the state.

I really see it becoming a more common battle over the next few years across many states, more so if we ( wa) pass it through and can show how much of a cash cow it is, and how much it cuts costs in other areas.

Honestly, the price differences, it doesn't bother me, mainly for reasons I'm not about to discuss on this site due to their inherent nature.

Edit: WHOA WHOA WHOA hold the phone, Mac, you do know we're talking about Cannabis and not cig's right?

No, it really isn't. The only thing that studies have found that could possibly cause cancer from pot, is the smoke itself, because it is smoke. That however is from inhaling burnt plant matter, if you vaporize it, or eat edibles, or use a bong it cuts down on the plant matter either completely (as in the case of edibles and vaping) or mostly (as in the case of bongs).

As for heart disease, it's much the same, it comes down to the fact you're smoking. However both of those things are on a level so minute that it's rarely if ever brought up by the opposition now, because of the amount of research done to combat those myths. The cigs = pot myth was started and based without fact, the reason cigarrettes are as harmful as they are today is because of all the extra shit we put in it besides tobacco, and the fact that we douse it in radiated insect repellent while it's growing. Pot has none of those things.

They use pot for cancer treatment, not just the pain management aspects of chemo patients.
