Those taxes are exactly what I'm talking about. Legal pot will always be more expensive than street pot. The same way alcohol from a liquor store is more expensive than moonshine.
lolwat? No it isn't. If pot is legalized it'll be cheaper than street. It's so expensive BECAUSE it's illegal. Only in the first world is an ounce $200+. Everywhere else it's much cheaper because it is not expensive to grow and harvest.
The moonshine example is a false one. It's not a simple thing to make quality vodka. However, it is very easy to grow, for example, dank, quality White Widow in your basement, and, if you get the same seeds as a dispensery's supplier (not hard to do), it'll be identical to what you can get in a dispensery.
Fact of the matter is, if pot is legalized, even if it is controlled by the Federal government (being Canada, 'cuss Viggy and I are canucks), it WILL be cheaper then what you get on the streets. If it isn't, guess what? No one is going to go to legal dispenseries.
