That's a good question.
Furthermore...are lightwhips even allowed?

At least 1000 BBY. Githany used one. It seems less like a variation of a lightsaber and more like a weapon that uses similar tech, as its a long strand which can be coated in energy. I don't think there's actually ever been an example of it cutting off a limb despite striking one, so it's probably a little less powerful. I don't know how a flexible coherent beam of energy would work anyway.

I'm pretty sure they were just a regular whip that was covered in energy, so it looked similar to a lightsaber although was different technology. I'm pretty sure they could cut off limbs (I remember reading it somewhere, either in a book or the game Empire at War.

A lightwhip would probably be capable of severing limbs from the body of a man, although my assumption that it indeed can in is based on a paragraph in an article on Wookieepedia (The behind the scenes section of the Lightwhip article).

It's capable of doing way more than that. Lumiya or w/e used hers to cut through durasteel, ferrocrete, etc.

If the whip were to wrap around the target, and the user were to give a sharp yank, I'm sure there would be quite a bit of severing occurring. And I should hope lightwhips are allowed since my oldest character uses one. I described it as a regular whip that emits energy, kinda a step up from a vibrowhip.

Owwww, what you do that for? ^_^ Also, how many gentleman hit ladies? Oh, I'm going as Doctor Insano for halloween ^_^ I'm a huge spoony fan.

I thought you were a Linkara fan, and as such assumed you knew his video containing the 'I am a Man' scene.

I do know, notice the ^_^ in my post indicating I'm having a laugh. I've seen all but maybe 20 of linkaras videos, and I've seen all of spoony and nostalgia critic and chick. I hate angry joe though. his videos have way too many shitty special effects, and he himself talks like a complete moron.

But anyway, good to know about lightwhips. I could see they would be less awesome than a saber though. What about lightclubs? less likely to be used, but if anyone has giant Jedi...

I don't see much reason why any variation of the lightsaber would be disallowed. Since most of them are basically attaching more/bigger handles to the standard blade.

if you modified the emiter to spread out to a larger range there should be no issue with that. it would eat up powr at least twice as quickly as a standard blade. it would also do less damge as you would have to strengthen the shield surounding the plasma so that it reached around the tip of the saber and kept it from escaping out the end.

All this is actually just speculation. There have been people with two times as large lightsabers that have had no problems. Also no one actually rps their lightsaber running out of power in the middle of a fight, that's just a stupid idea.

no one without a d20 does. those of us who play with d20s during major battles sometimes do.

Well were not the D20 system from kotor. Either way that is like roleplaying that you are running out of ammo while being surrounded. That's a turrible idea. Anyway WHY HAS NO ONE ANSWERED THE DOUBLE BLADED LIGHTSABER ALLOWANCE QUESTION YET?

because its a silly question, of course their allowed, they are canon. So no one needs to worry. if lightwhips are allowed, of course double blades will be.
