Ask Coruscant Lost in the City

[Sace Vsil]

This had easily been the furthest Sace has been from home. Unknown of how exactly to even be considered in the Jedi Order, the serpent figured his best shot would be in the largest city-planet that this galaxy has to offer. Sace docked his freighter in a local docking bay, paid the docking fee to a shady Twi'lek who could spot a tourist from a mile away. Although, Sace was strong willed. Giving only what he felt was deserved...he'd only hoped that his ship would be there upon his return.

With little units left to his name, finding someone who would talk to him about what he sought would be a challenge. Even throughout his journey, Sace could feel a sensation that he hadnt felt before, and it was beyond him running away from home. He could feel some sort of connection between himself and the environment that was inexplicable to him. He wanted to follow in his great relatives footsteps and become something more than what his past generations had achieved.

Sace swallowed the city in, Coruscant was overwhelming to say the least. Places like Nar Shaddaa or even the largest city on his home planet of Sluis Van paled in comparison to the sight of Coruscant. However he was no push over, he came here for a reason and intended fully on accomplishing it. Slithering out of the hub of the docking port and not knowing where to begin, the Sluissi hopeful slithered into the commercial district of the city-planet hoping to find a sign.

Getting hungry, the serpent came across a Nikto street food vendor.

"I'll have a tray of Pssseudo-chudde." Despite it looking suspicious, it was the only thing on the cart he had recognized.

"Sure thing snako, that'll be five creds!" the Nikto replied.

 

[Yvain]

Yvain had spent so long outside the wims of the central Jedi Order that now he had returned to inner circle of the Order he felt claustrophobic from all their requests. He was training youngling groups, visiting dignitaries, recruiting new members and now they were asking for him to take on a Padawan or two. Apparently his centuries of knowledge would be beneficial for him to pass on to others, though Yvain himself was not hundred percentage sure if it was the right thing.

Courscant was a far decent sight from the humble farm he had spent the Galactic Civil residing in, people crowded all around blocking most of the little green aliens view of the world passing him by. Yvain smiled at anyone who bothered to look down at him, he was a happy and jolly character usually and enjoyed the pleasure of a good conversation however the people of Courscant seemed to want to do anything but talk.

As he continued to walk Yvain felt something, a call throw The Force. "Hmmm." He said out loud, making his way through the throng of people he exited to see Slussi by a food stall devouring some form of meat. Yvain smiled as he approached the snake man. "Greetings young one, how is the chudde?" He asked hopping up onto a nearby stool.

[Megeshi Oflene]

Megeshi worked her way through the bustling markets and streets of Coruscant, winding effortlessly through the crowds of people in a way that fully displayed her extensive knowledge of this district. Like many times before, she was not on a hunt for anything specifically, something that her superiors at the Order would likely express scorn at, if they were aware, that is. However these brisk and thorough hunts had proven fruitful in the past, as the underbelly of Coruscant was as deplorable as it was sprawling.

Megeshi passed under one of the many skyways present in the inner city, she quickly noticed a peculiar sight and watched for a few seconds from this distance. A small-statured alien, clad in tan robes, and stood in front of a serpent, something she had certainly never seen before. The one in robes was certainly a fellow Jedi, but not one she had spoken to before, or even seen around.

After a quick few seconds of deliberation, Megeshi opted to approach the peculiar duo, all-the-while trying to draw the smallest amount of attention to herself as possible.

"Well, this is a surprise. Most other Jedi don't opt to visit this part of town," she smiled slyly, though under her hood, it was hard to tell.

"Are you new around here?"

Searching for Jedi is gunna be rough!!

The Sluissi thought to himself as he continued eating his long overdue meal. Being the furthest he'd ever been, Coruscant was clearly overpopulated. And this was just from his initial observation. Eating his food standing up as there was no room even for a set of table and chairs. Those who walked by him may have glanced, but were clearly too busy with their business to give any further thought to the oblivious tourist.

"Greetings young one, how is the chudde?" Said a small creature who jumped right onto a stool.

Shocked by its outgoing nature, Sace was more surprised to see a creature such as this. Though, he could tell immediately the amount of confidence and sincerity emanating from the smaller being, as well as something...more, though he couldnt put his finger on it.

"Hey...itsss better than the stuff they sell on Nar Ssshadaa thats for sssure." Sace was outward enough to appreciate the simple nature of conversation, but was not naïve enough to let his guard down.

"Sssay...you wouldnt happen to know where I can find any J..." Sace was shortly interrupted by a woman of similar confidence that unknowingly idiosyncratic feeling he had gotten from the smaller one.

"Well, this is a surprise. Most other Jedi don't opt to visit this part of town,"

JEDI?! Sace thought, caught off guard enough to dispel what else she had said. At this point Sace was sure that they could see his confusion and clarity begin to set in.

"Your a Jedi?!" He managed to get out, not realizing how his demeanor could be perceived.

 

[Yvain]

Yvain was peering into the food stand whilst listening to his scaly friend, he was rather hungry. 'Ooooo is that Pan Fried Nabooian Mud Toad.' The little green Jedi licked his lips in anticipation of the meal. He was reaching into his little pocket for some credits when he felt another approach, her smooth light told him already that she was one of the Order. Though she had not mastered her emotions, that was an interesting thought. The old Jedi was still not one hundred percent on board on the New Order's more lax opinions on Emotions and Commitments.

Looking up at the now rather shocked Sluissi he smiled. "For the last two and a half centuries I would say so, young one." Yvain knew that the timeframe would cause confusion on both of his fellow aliens side. Not many species lived to over a hundred let alone push three times that with little ease. "Your aura gives me the same feeling, young one. I was not expecting one, let alone two of you here. It has been a long time since the Order called this home."

The smile disappeared for a moment and he turned his head, somehow even this far away he could feel were the temple once stood and he gazed in that direction. Sadness and regret filling his little body for a moment, but then he remembered his reasoning and the sadness disappeared replaced with another smile. "Would one of you like to treat an old man to a Pan Fried Nabooian Mud Toad?"

[Megeshi Oflene]

Megeshi smirked as the small, green Jedi smiled up at her. Was this a venerable old Jedi she was talking to, or a street beggar? She let out a quick sigh under her breath, before reaching into her pocket and retrieving a 20-credit chip and handing it over to the Jedi smugly.

"Might as well buy me one too. Can't say I have much experience with... Nabooian cuisine."
Or any cuisine, for that matter.

She then turned her attention towards the Sluissi, and looked at him carefully. Megeshi worked best with the maximum amount of secrecy and restraint, and his just-previous exclamation heightened her senses.

"Keep your voice down a bit. This entire market's burning holes in the back of our heads now. I can understand the excitement, though."

Megeshi cracked a small smile, perhaps to try to convince him of her sincerity. Either way, she realised it probably wasn't very convincing after all, and dropped this expression, turning to look at anything else instead. The place was certainly bustling at this time, but the skyway roofing provided adequate cover, to her mind.

Excitement wasnt the word...perhaps fate was more sufficient. All this time his biggest issue with coming here was actually looking for the Jedi and not an hour on the planet he had found just that. Maybe there was something else at play here. Or maybe he was just that lucky.

Grabbing the 20 unit credit chip from the Jedi, Sace turned back to the food vendor and took out the last bit of credits he had from his pocket to give to the vender...but before he could a figure reached into the same pocket he was going into and snatched whatever it could reach...taking credits and half of a broken lightsaber hilt that Sace was planning on showing a Jedi when he'd met them.

The figure broke off into a run through a crowd of people...now a visibly Shistaven thief running away. Sace realized what happened after an instant and took off..."Get back..." Extending his long tail and slithering through the crowd after him knowing those unaware of what was going on over just to make the path clearer.

[Yvain]

Yvain was rather confused at the woman's comment. Why did they need to keep it down, Jedi were no longer hunted or prosecuted, much of the galaxy now respected and valued the Jedi's commitments to helping worlds most in need. "There is no need to be quiet here young one." Yvain replied with his trademark smile. The little green Jedi rubbed his hands together ready for his Fried Toad, his stomach grumbled to signal it to was ready for the food, when the credits and what appeared to be the Slussi's saber? Were whisked out of his hand and off into the crowd.

Yvain was as a Jedi should be not prone to emotional outbursts, but when someone messed with his food he was not a happy little Jedi. Hopping up off his stool, he leapt onto the roof of the food cart, giving him a good view of the little miscreant that had taken his opportunity ad Fried Toad. Reaching out with The Force he grabbed hold of the boys foot, there was an audiable oof, as he smacked into the ground before the Jedi lifted him up into the air. The whole crowd turned to watch a flying Shistaven thief travel back towards the three Jedi.

[Megeshi Oflene]

Megeshi viewed the actions of her green Jedi acquaintance with some amount of regulated disdain. While he was correct in that Jedi were no longer hunted down by the rest of the galaxy like dire-cats hunted their prey, but yet Megeshi was constantly and keenly aware, be it paranoia or her Jedi instincts. And, as such, she knew the Jedi still had enemies. And such chauvinistic and obvious displays of the Force were not going to win them any favours with the general populace.

"There's always need for discretion, small one. I would have expected a Jedi of your age to realise this."

Speaking plainly and without any distinguishing tone, Megehsi gazed at the squirming serpent she saw in front of her, and then back to the small-statured one. Noticing his expression, she opened her mouth absently, before gathering a few more words.

"Sorry. I just-- Coruscant may seem friendly from the storefronts, but sometimes the... problems... leak out from the Underworld. It's best to excise some caution. Anyways, I'm sure there's some more elaborate reason you're here than the toads."

Megeshi turned back to the Sluissi fellow, and stared more deliberately.

"And I'm even more interested in your reason."

The Sluissi rushed through the crowd, the sight of the Shistaven just barely within reach when all of a sudden he was the only thing he could see, albeit now in the air. As if caught by an invisible goliath by the leg, the thief floated back towards the Jedi trio, Sace also following. When confronted with the small green Jedi, the serpent spun him around to face him upside down. His amazement could barely be contained, and was still just barely in check by the thought that he had almost lost his precious belonging.

"Erm...I think this iz yourz..." He said handing over the busted hilt and remaining credits.

Sace grabbed the hilt and reached in his other pocket for the other half...matched them together so that they fit like a puzzle, and then took a light swing at the suspended street thug.

"Next time at leassst take sssomething of value...thisss thing is busssted..." Sace said happy now that it was back in his possession. Then facing the green Jedi. "Much appreciated...your gunna have to teach me that."

"...Anyways, I'm sure there's some more elaborate reason you're here than the toads... And I'm even more interested in your reason."

"If you find a wannabe Jedi who dont really know how to use the force interesssting...than yeah...theresss my reason."

"Fear is not a reason to hide ones true being, young one." Yvain replied to the women, what was holding her back, what fear corrupted her soul? If she was Jedi like she claimed Yvain was worried as Fear was a path to the Dark Side and this new emotional Jedi Order felt so susceptible to that dangerous fall. "I would advise you truly embrace your heritage. To be Jedi is to be a light for the galaxy, we must not hide. Or the whole galaxy goes dark." He finished as the Slussi reclaimed his belongings from t he dangling thief.

Yvain pulled the man over to him keeping him upside down as he did. "I advise you stop such things, unless the police get hold of you. They will be much less gentle than I." He placed the thief on the floor and he quickly scurried off into the crowd. He did not respond to the woman's comments only as the reply of the Sluissi caught his attention to. "A Padawan I assume." He started pointing at the damaged saber in his hand. "Far from Yavin you are. Perhaps The Force guided you here?" Yvain rubbed his chin as he thought for a moment before remember he had yet to introduce himself. Hopping back down onto the stool he gave a little bow to the pair. "Yvain, Jedi Knight."

"Padawan?1" The Sluissi said clearly confused. "No no, you misssundersstand...Thisss ssaber belonged to a great relative of mine. I wish to follow in his footssstepss and not be held to the sssame sstandard as those that my family expect...I wwissh to becomme a Jedi and I figured to presss my luck on Corussscant."

Sace not only wished for acceptance to the Order, but also for guidance...teaching of what the Jedi held so dear...knowledge of the Force and how he could come to wield it like Yvain has shown.

"Namez Sssace. And it appears that you two are exactly what I came here for." The Sluissi was already more than thrilled to have met not one but two other Jedi...he only hoped that they were as willing to guide him as they were to introduce him to the Order.

"And your name missss?"

Megeshi pondered the old Jedi’s words for a moment, thinking deeply but revealing nothing through her blank-faced expression. However she quickly put the thoughts aside, ready for another time when she had more space to meditate on wisdom. By the time she had finished speaking, the Sluissi was staring at her expectantly.

“Megeshi,” she said quickly, but still retaining an assuredly collected tone.

“Jedi Knight Megeshi Oflene. Good to meet you, Sace. And you, Yvain,” she smiled softly, turning to the Jedi for just a moment.

“That certainly is an interesting request. But it’s not as simple as a field recruitment. We have tests and trials for exactly this reason, and they are rigorous. But… perhaps you will learn, if the Order allows it.” Megeshi turned, and looked solemnly at the young hopeful for a few moments while waiting for his reaction.

Yvain popped down onto the floor and gave the Slussi a look up and down as he pottered around him. He could feel the flow of The Force within the young creature, it was innocent and simple. That was one of the joys he missed, Yvain had spent much of his time both within the new and old order seeking out new recruits to swell the Jedi ranks and feeling their innocent nature was a pleasure to his old soul.

He looked up at the female Jedi and scrunched his face a little, she was an odd one that was for sure. Very defensive, perhaps there was something there which needed to be sought out. But for the moment the Slussi Sace was his main attention. "Well I few questions for you Sace, what does the Jedi Order mean to you? And what do you think we mean to the galaxy?" It was some of the basic questions he always askes prospective recruits. Looking over at Megeshi he nodded, he would like to hear her answers as well.

Sace was glad to meet two Jedi who seemed more than willing to put up with younger and more foolish Jedi hopefuls, running into them was no mistake, but fate. The Sluissi coiled his tail and listened intently to both Jedi Knights, though the hustle and flow of Coruscant did everything in its power to deny his full attention. Combined with all of the happenings going on around them, the question the smaller Jedi, Yvain, had come up with certainly was unexpected...seemed as though the lessons couldnt wait, not that Sace was expecting anything less.

"Well to be honessst...the Jedi, to me, mean...hope. Hope for both me and the galaxy. Hope to change the way my life was meant to be. Hope to help those who do not have the power to change it themssselves. Hope in the galaxy for any who want to be free or even feel safe living in their own worldsss. Hope that there is sssomething to fight the evil...and ssstrong enough to win."

The Sluissi forgot where he was for a second...never thought of these words before they just came to his head and then out of his mouth. He never realized how he felt about the Jedi...or thought he even cared to think of what the galaxy thought of them. To him, they were peacekeepers, though those born out of necessity due to the uprising of evil. But no ordinary evil. Evil that was so strong and powerful, that normal peacekeepers could not dare fight against it. And yet there were the Jedi, fighting it and winning...at times. Though for the most part, they did so in order to ensure the safety of the galaxy and its people. There were only a few times that politics stood in the way.

Megeshi smiled as Sace gave his answer. Perhaps not outwardly showing her full emotions, but inside she felt in total agreement with his words. Her introduction to the order had been… unorthodox to say the least, and she had barely known what a Jedi was until she was thrown into direct confrontation with one. Growing up on an isolated, Outer-Rim planet such as Mirial had that effect on her, and her lack of knowledge for the galaxy outside of that bubble was evident, for sure. However, she had quickly flourished under her old master’s guidance, and she now looked within herself, wondering how she would respond to a question such as this when she was still just a Padawan. Quickly returning to the present, she bega

“I’d say that’s as good an answer as any I’ve heard before,” Megeshi said softly, turning to face both of the pair in turn, before keeping her eyes fixed on Yvain, waiting expectantly for his take on the question.
“What about you, Yvain?”

Megeshi looked all around, taking in the incredible business of the planet. She felt that she probably still stuck out like a sore thumb here, but at the moment she was more fixed on the current conversation and provided it with more importance than anything else going on at this moment.

"Hope is a powerful word young Sace, just be sure to not overuse it otherwise it becomes meaningless. It should only be used as kindling, then strength and courage should turn it into a fire. A fire built on hope can be easily snuffed by a single defeat." Yvain said in reply to both Sace and Megeshi. The young hopeful's answer was a good one if not a suspected one, the Jedi had always been a signal of hope to the galaxy. But they had been relied on to much, the people had not built themselves up to counter any darkness the Jedi could not. Perhaps that is why the Republic fell?

"One final question, I would actually ask this to you both. What do you think the Jedi should do with the current state of the galaxy? The Sith included?"

Sace listened intently to the small green Jedi, at first he did not realize that this was some sort of test or lesson, but after hearing Yvains retorts about his thoughts, the serpent knew that he had a lot to learn. Nodding lightly, still thinking on the words Yvain spoke. It should only be used as kindling. Sace was a very emotional person, at times, and this sentiment could certainly be used to fuel his passion towards how he truly felt, though he would need to learn not to rely on it. Tools to help his mind accomplish this would be to learn more about the force and other skills such as combat.

Then Yvain asked about the current state of the galaxy. Sluis Van was far in the Outer Rim, and despite being a large ship manufacturing hub for the galaxy, he hadnt heard much news about current events. Hence why the trio had met on Coruscant. Though that is not to say that he didnt have opinions on how he thought things should be run.

"I feel as though the galaxy ssshould be sssovereigned by the people and only a small type government elected by those people ssshould run it...clearly thiss tasssk would inevitably fail without the proper measures to enforce it, though that is what I feel the Jedi could ssspecialize in, once placed into affect of course." Sace was young still, and immature, though he felt strongly on certain things and while he hadnt put much thought into politics before now, he felt that this was the best way to go about things, though the young serpent could certainly be susceptible to influence on this matter.

"As for the Sssith, unfortunately I do not sssee a world in which the galaxy and the Sssith could live peacefully. Time and time again the Sssith have proved their intentionsss, and they are always sssinister. I'm not sssure if eradicated is the right word, but as I sssaid...they cannot exissst in a peaceful galaxy."

Megeshi listened intently as the pair spoke, silently thinking to herself and pondering their words as she peered at them. After a while, she turned and spoke to Sace in particular.

“So you would have the Jedi police the galaxy?” She asked blankly. Megeshi was a firm believer in limited action, especially when dealing with potentially lethal galactic threats. Leaving a small space of time to view her acquaintance’s response, she spoke again.

“It’s a noble goal, but letting our Order become the the big brother of the galaxy would be both ignorant of other systems’ rights to sovereignty, and the traditions of the Jedi. Yes, we should be peacekeepers, but choosing a side in grey situations benefits us little. I believe we should always find a neutral ground in such situations.”

She stared at the smaller green Jedi, wondering what his response would be to her position. She had already sensed some apprehension when she had arrived, and wondered where the line would be drawn where they could both find some common ground. A Jedi of his experience must have some strong opinions on such a topic, Megeshi thought to herself.

“Not to mention their right to decide their own actions. Though I must agree with you about the Sith. They are a threat that only the Jedi are equipped to face, I would say.”

Megeshi smiled as she finished speaking. She reflected for a moment, and decided she was thoroughly satisfied by her words.

"Ahh yes, but we had become the big brother to the Old Republic. Perhaps that was part of the route to our downfall, do you agree?" Yvain initially replied, she was right what they had done was become ignorant and big headed. The Old Order held itself above all else, perhaps that is why many did not argue against its fall. Yvain had sat down on the stool now, his legs crossed his hands on his little green knees as he spoke with the pair. Although Courscant was a crowded world full of people from all corners of the galaxy, they did stand out somewhat, Slussi were rare and Yvain only knew of one other of his own race and he had died long ago. The Mirilian blended in rather well however, though her clothing like his own was rather different than the galactic norm.

"I feel Megeshi is right in that we as one order should not police the galaxy, Sace, instead would you advocate for the Republic to have its own military, or police force apart from the Jedi thus allowing them to defend themselves without our interaction? And to Megeshi if we are to be peacekeepers who decides what side we stand on? Is it the republic? The Council? Whoever asks first? Or whoever seems to be in the wrong?" The Jedi Knight was enjoying the conversation with the two, it was good to see other peoples opinions, it helped mould his own ideas and thoughts on the New Order.
