I heard on the radio (ABC news) that the terrorist caught trying to shoot up the youth camp said he did this because of those comics, so you are exactly right on that one.

The norwegian press thought one did but after inquiry's to the same group they denied any involvement.

The shooter is a norwegian ethnicity so that reduces my suspicious it was a religious / islamic terrorist act.

The norwegian press also says the attacks are connected (and they found bombs on the island) so reducing my suspicions that it was islamic terrorism

Let's not forget that domestic terrorism is terrorism nonetheless. Any act that is meant to prove a point, send a message, and/or inspire fear can be clumped into the category of "terrorism." People just often associate it with Islamic extremist groups because they're the most accessible.

But really. It's events like this that make us truly thankful for everything and everyone that we have. This is just so horrible. Teenage kids. Damn.

Irony? Really? I find it hard to believe our society has grown ruthless enough to mock Christianity over mourning the innocent death of dozens of people, in a camp, none the less.

Like I said, this is a tragedy. But after reading comment after comment on these news sites about how terrible Islam is, and how great Christianity is, I can't help it. I'll bet that if they wanted to build a church near this site, no one's going to cause a shitstorm about it. I'll bet if some Christians wanted to enter the area in the future, no one's going to freak out. Religious fanaticism sickens me, no matter what label you slap on it, because while people bash and discriminate against other religions, they tend to ignore the pain THEIR OWN religion has caused.

I'll say this for the third time: I am very saddened by the loss of life. But what's REALLY disturbing, even more than these tragedies, is how human beings react to them.

When did we stop our isolationism get into WW2 to stop a tyrant? AFTER we were bombed first.

When did we pull together as a nation? AFTER 9/11 when it took thousands of people being killed to make us realize shit.

Yes, I know these are American examples as opposed to Norwegian, but does it really make much of a difference? It ALWAYS takes a disaster to make people suddenly start caring again, and it only lasts for a month or two. Then we forget and go back to our finger-pointing ways and it disgusts me. I admit that I fall into the same trap all the time. That disgusts me too.

So, while I know my posts are probably going to make me a few enemies, I simply don't give a shit. Some anvils need to be dropped.
