Not really piling on. The burden is on him. He shouldn't get to spout off without someone holding him accountable for this nonsense. He either backs up some of his assertions or he concedes them. Pretty simple.

And we were discussing his latest posts earlier, and he gets a chance to respond to them. You didn't really add anything that hasn't already been said.

This wasn't a suggestion, so I'm moving on now.

"'"The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again," the statement said, announcing a "major news conference" on 21 December."

December 21? Well played, NRA, well played.

The Friday before Christmas? Yeah. People will be totally paying attention. Mind you, if I were the NRA, I'd offer some token clip ban concessions, caterwaul about how this is Hitler times a thousand, pocket any forthcoming concessions (which you know the Democrats will offer) and then consider gun control solved when we pass some very targeted bans on some esoteric clip that we ban.

Long story short, I'm very skeptical of President Obama's ability to get anything done on this. He's a centrist and a fairly weak one at that. We'll see how debt negotiations go. If we get any Chained CPI bullshit, it'll pretty much tell us what we need to know about the President's relative weakness.

If they announce their support for gun control measures, we'll know for sure that the world will explode by the end of the day.

Again, it's a Friday (news dump) before Christmas (even worse.)

So that makes me question their sincerity right there. If they wanted time to think of a policy, then wait after Christmas and announce it on a Monday or some other day when you can actually get it into the news cycle.

Ah, I love it when I'm right.

Disingenuous assholes are disingenuous.

"If we're going to have a conversation, then let's have a comprehensive conversation," said one industry source. "If we're going to talk about the Second Amendment, then let's also talk about the First Amendment, and Hollywood, and the video games that teach young kids how to shoot heads.

I feel like I'm reading the second issue of Green Arrow all over again.

Hey guys, remember Jack Thompson? I'm glad he's gone.

My state (Michigan) almost put into law a bill that would have allowed guns to be carried in schools. HOLY SHIT, danger averted (thank you governor).

Well freedom is officially dead.

It's only a matter of time before they force us all to have gay abortions.
You guys serious or joking?

Jackie boy was a funny man back in the day.

Better idea: Have police or a security team on the school grounds. Having teachers bring a gun to school will just make a heap of more problems.

If only funding for schools and police forces weren't being cut across California.

My school district has one police liason for each school. It's more of a matter of whether your local police department can spare officers than anything else.

It's also not going to stop a shooting from starting, it's just going to mean the officer will have to shoot a kid. So not only are you potentially traumatizing an officer, but you're not preventing the situation. I think a metal detector would be better than this, even if its more invasive. I know guns aren't necessarily the most common things, but I do remember seeing several switchblades at my middle school.
