My granddad was in the Royal Navy in WW2, serving on a submarine in the Pacific. He died just a few months before I was born, and so I was honoured with his name. ^^

Other then him, no military relatives that I know of.

Pretty much everyone will have a family member who was in the military at one point.

Both my grandparents fought in WWII, one with the Canadian Armed Forces and the other with the Polish Armed Forces, and then the Polish Armed Forces in the West after Poland was overrun in '39.

Grandfather was an engineer in Africa in WW2. Uncles are mostly retired army and are well decorated. My great grandfather was a combat medic in WW1 for the Italian army.

On my mothers side we have A.P.Hill a confederate general in the US civil war. Also she had numerous extended family members go to West Point. The Irish side of my mothers family are a bunch of bums and never joined the military.

I forget, but I think it was my paternal grandfather who fought the Japanese in WWII at Singapore. He resisted the Japanese Occupation as a lieutenant and is considered a great war hero (second only to that guy who died a martyr...). His picture is at Singapore's WWII museum, specifically as the face of Singapore's (or you can say Malaya's, since Malaysia and Singapore was one colony of the British) part of Force 136.

He passed away in the 90s. Never got to know him for real. :[

My Grandmother's sister's husband was a Sergeant in Nam, I believe. I haven't talked to him about it much, but I remember people saying that he said it was horrific.

My great grandfathers are both unconfirmed. One we are pretty sure served in the US Army during WWI and we believe my other great-grandfather was in hte Red Army during the Russian Revolution; but we do not have much knowledge about him since he died in the late 1930s. Both my grandfather's served in World War II. One served in the 82nd Airborne in Europe and the other served in the Marines in the Pacific. Also, my father served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam.

Oh, I guess I should add it. Apparently my great-great-great-great grandfather or something served under Wellesley at Waterloo during the Waterloo Campaign.

Both my grandfathers served in World War II. My maternal grandfather was in the Navy and built the ramp that the Enola Gay took off from when it went to assrape Japan, and my paternal grandfather was a Colonel in Europe under Eisenhower. He stormed the beach at Omaha and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He got a Silver Star in the Battle of the Bulge because he jumped off of a tank into a Nazi foxhole and killed everyone inside of it.

Finally, my cousin served in Afghanistan back in 2002.

Somewhere on my paternal Grandmother's side were US civil war vets. On my maternal grandfather's side were soldiers in the Turkish military including a great grandfather who fought in WW1 and picked up his last name from a village that he was in at one point.

My paternal grandfather had three destroyers torpedoed out from under him during WW II. I think he was a Jonah.

You say that as if we're off topic, but your thread is called "Military relatives" and your first sentence was "...who else has has or has had military relatives?"

Somehow, I'm a bit more than skeptical about this. :CAbove:

He probably means that it grazed his head but didn't actually penetrate into the skull. That's actually a very minor injury.

EDIT: See?

So it grazed his head, it didn't bounce. In which case yea I can believe that.
