Fourthly, from what I can see from Sentry’s write up over here, the atmospheric shuttle you dropped in(from what I see, it is most likely the C Variant doesn’t have comms so I would like to know how you would be able to communicate.

Before that standard features can be omitted from the write up and used (he was referring to a standard hyperwave signal jammer) but Comm unit is STANDARD on a ship.

Ok this presents me with a conundrum. What hardware is considered basic, immutable starship tech and what isn't? I've said before that if a ship does not have shields in the write-up, then tough luck, it doesn't have shields. But shields are technically optional on ships. It would be virtually impossible to operate a ship without even a shortwave comm unit, and to a lesser extent a more sophisticated holowave transceiver.

So, do I require/promote an exhaustive list of everything from comms, to shields, to toilets? Well the answer to that is really simple. Tech boards are closed, so there won't be any lists.

Extreme pedantry aside, going by what is in the rules (subject to change next timeline), SW is correct. It's incredibly stupid that a ship wouldn't have comms, and I don't like this, but...I'm not interested in overhauling the rules for this timeline every time an issue like this comes up. My efforts are better focused on fixing stuff for next timeline instead of fixing everything for now.

:/ I'm presented with a conundrum then because Boli said it could be assumed something like that was standard and unnecessary in the writeup.

Additionally we do have a Comm officer listed.

In fairness, that was about a hyperwave signal jammer for a flagship. Being able to jamm comms is usually part of a larger comms suite, and is completely stock standard.

Yeah but comms are standard in any ship...

I meant a link to the ship in question.

Short-range comms, yes. Long range arrays for hyperwave signals (which, could be mistaken here, but you'd need something like that to contact the ships given they're not in the Sluis system)? Not so much.

NEVERMIND.

EDIT: Your flagship already has a comms unit listed, so something that is a part of that unit wouldn't need listing.

The dropship doesn't have anything in regards to comms. Like I said I don't really like such pedantry, but that's what the rules state.

Now if the other side is willing to let you have, for the purposes of RP, a shortwave (in-system) comm unit, then that's fine. But SW is directly contesting that your shuttle doesn't have long-range, hyperwave comms. And it technically doesn't.

Since we have a comms officer listed, and it was clearly an oversight not listing them, may we use the short wabe comms unit please?

I mean, personall I'm fine if you still want to bring your forces in - you're kind of opening a Pandora's Box for yourself, but I'm cool with it. It's 100% Silent Wind's call though.

Don't the LRF-18s have Hyperwave transmitters? Or any of the other strike force craft?

I believe they do. So the shuttle would communicate with them and they would communicate with Imymusph should SW allow us to have our short range.

Oh, I missed them earlier. But you don't have them on your assets list (Hell's Nightmare states Shredders and Thunderbolt?). So...y'know.

Well they're long range strike craft, so they just fly alongside the ships like x-wings do

I would think, as well, that they would be interchangeable with another ship that size (Shredders and Thunderbolts) but if you would like me to exclude them since they're not in the write up, I will. T-4s have a comm suite. Hell even if our Shuttle can't have short range comms, the comms in a datapad or GENESIS armor could reach the T-4s.
