No it's not "just a bird" to me. It's an endangered species, and it's a living creature. But bear in mind that we kill and eat birds by the million every day. Okay it's a special kind of bird, that has some significance to America (why you have a "national animal" that holds so much more significance than the "national animals" (and I use that term loosely) of other countries is beyond me) but this guy spent 12 years in prison for it.

I think murdering an animal is just as bad a murdering a human being.

Good point. I think it's because some people are trying to chime into the thread without having read up everything before hand and taking the argument way out of context.

My opinion on the matter is President Bush did right. It's not proof George Bush hates America, it's proof that he has some care for Americans. *I realize that last statement could spark a long and exhausting argument over the war, but let's not go there as it would be even more off topic than the current thread trend.*

It has bee stated before and seemingly ignored, but I'll say it again. The man had no intention or thought of killing the eagles. He was just trying to protect his livelihood from coyotes; he was a victim of chance. Therefore, I think 12 years of the man's life was complete overkill as a punishment.

Bears, Lions, and other Carnivores sometimes kill humans for food, so we kill them back for food. It evens out.

Millions of them die every year to feed us!
