It had been days since Montague returned from Serenno with the gifts she had prepared for the newly-minted Marauders and her former student. Heavily injured and unconscious, at that, the latter. Hrist had simply waved off the butler's apology of being unable to complete his assigned task, assuring him that he did the right thing. Besides, how else would the Zabrak enjoy his gift if he perished?

Perhaps Xeno should count himself lucku that Hrist's fathers weren't present when Montague returned. Both Jacques and Joaquin were offworld, doing business who knew where and probably wouldn't be home soon. The Mistress of the estate was quick to call upon one of the very few people she considered friend and ally, one of the former Cadre Subjects from the facility Hrist hailed, who now worked in the underworld as a doctor. She could simply refer to the local medical experts, but she didn't trust them.

Hrist listened patiently as Tomoegata discussed Xeno's injuries extensively and with much details. Her Cadre-brother had taken on a gleeful tone at the female Sith's unimpressed gaze, most probably to sway her into taking the same path he did. The flamboyantly dressed half-Sephi cared not for the Order nor being a part of it despite the brainwashing and conditioning they were once subject into, and Hrist would have admired the man had she not been loyal to the Eternal herself.

"He will live, then?" Hrist asked after her Cadre-brother spoke, one perfect brow raised in curiosity as she glanced at the unconscious Zabrak lying prone in the bed. Should Xeno awaken he would find himself in the same guest room he was provided with during his first visit on the estate. Nothing changed, save for the medical apparatuses in the room.

Tomoegata shrugged, absent-mindedly tying little bows on the Zabrak's bandaged arm. "Yes. Shame, that. He would make a fine specimen for this project I'm working on."

Laughing softly, the female Marauder brushed the joke aside and stood from her seat, returning the embrace her Cadre-brother gave her. "Thank you for your help, Tomoegata. I trust you know where your room is for the whole duration of your stay?"

"Dear me, I seem to have forgotten. Perhaps one of your cute maids can help me...?"

A predatory glint flashed momentarily in the half-Sephi's dark gaze, prompting another giggle from Hrist. Wagging a finger at him in a stern "No", she shook her head fondly as Montague escorted Tomoegata out of the room, leaving her alone with her former student.

Ruby gaze settled on Xeno's face. With a small wave of her hand the heavy armchair by the fireplace floated towards Hrist and settled on the bedside. Now perched on her seat, the female Marauder continued her vigil by her dear former student's bedside, waiting for him to wake up. They have much to discuss, more so, the reason for him ending up in such a state.

Being in a deep sleep had it's pros and cons. The situation of the deep sleep was bad as well. Xeno had been what Hrists fathers would call a "bad boy" or dog depending on how they felt like looking at the situation. After a long long sleep, Xeno's eyes began to open. Though he was still weak. Still in a lot of pain. Everything began to scream with agony within his body. Pain riddling through every limb and his torso.

He noticed tat he was back in that same guest room he had stayed before, and would attempt to move but he couldn't. All he could do was move his eyes. Maybe he could speak. The Zabrak was going to try and say something but he didn't know what to say other than,

"Good...morning.... "

Yea that definitely hurt to say. It had caused coughing which then caused pain and more coughing and more pain. Maybe not so much a good idea to speak.

Pain lanced through the Force in waves and Hrist could only smile softly down at Xeno as he tried to greet her. She was quick to shush him, one ivory hand moving to gently brush a finger to his forehead. Speaking was obviously difficult for him at the moment, and the female Marauder was quick to bring a solution to the problem at hand by letting her mind brush his own gently through their bond in the Force.

"Don't force yourself if you can't verbally speak, my darling Xeno," the red-haired Sith told her counterpart, the softness in her tone shifting into a teasing one when she added, "You should know by now that you're more than free to speak to me through the bond we share in the Force."

The finger on his forehead trailed down to lightly poke the tip of his nose, another smile tugging the corners of Hrist's lips upwards. Concern for her former student's well-being was clear in her ruby eyes, however, the only reason why she was smiling was because she'd learned that it somewhat helped soothe a patient's worry. It worked for her fathers – she hoped it would work as well for her fellow Marauder.

Her gaze soon shifted to the tiny bows her Cadre-brother had tied on Xeno's bandages and Hrist began to undo them one by one. Slender hands moved in careful and light touches, sometimes brushing against Xeno's arm. She glanced at her former student.

"This is not how I wanted to congratulate you on your promotion, my dear," Hrist began lightly, her hands still moving over the bows and undoing them. "As much as I wanted to be present on the party on Castle Wessex I knew I had to skip that one out, if only to not annoy Artorigas with my presence on his big day." She refrained from using your, knowing fully that the human Marauder considered that the cause for celebration was only for his own change of rank. "Though on second thought, seeing the look on his face and how he must rein in his temper would have been amusing."

With the last bow undone, the female Sith smoothed the bandages on the Zabrak's arm.

"I settled for sending Montague to Serenno, bearing gifts for you and Artorigas. Imagine my surprise when my dear butler returned – gifts forgotten in the ship – with you, unconscious and mortally injured, in the arms of a droid," she continued, the same smile still on her face. Hrist leaned down slightly towards Xeno. "What happened in the party for you to end up in such a state?"

She was not angry. At least not yet. And depending on Xeno's response, Hrist decided to give the Zabrak the benefit of the doubt and avoided jumping into conclusions. It wasn't as if he'd angered one of the Sith Lords present in the party, was it?

She wasn't mad it seemed. Unusual, though she may not know the details of why he is injured. Unfortunately he would have to tell her. He couldn't help but want to hide the truth, but he knew it would come out eventually.. plus lying to the woman he fell in love with was just not something he wanted to do. So the Zabrak swallowed a painful swallow and looked at the red eyes of his former master. He knew that he was doing the right thing but the dumb thing as well.

"I.. wore brown loafers."

Then he looked away towards the ceiling before continuing.

"... With a black suit."

Xeno had no shame in his choice of clothes as he does not care about fashion. Though apparently all of the other Sith cared about exactly that. A very dumb thing to focus so heavily on but people have their things he guessed. As for his master he would leav his explanation there for now. If she had asked what else happened she would receive the rest of the story, but he hoped otherwise.

Her fellow Marauder seemed insistent to speaking verbally even when she had given him the permission to talk to her through the Force. Hrist rolled her eyes in fond exasperation – if he wanted to further aggravate his injured throat then who was she to stop him? She wouldn't repeat her earlier request; there's no point in putting that one back on the table when he'd ignored it in the first place. And besides, he wasn't her apprentice anymore. She couldn't exactly order him around like before...

Or maybe she still could, seeing as he was still as openly and heavily smitten over her affection and smiles. This love he felt for her truly was a curious thing! She could ask him to kill for her and she doubted he would deny her the request.

Her darling Marauder felt conflicted – she could practically taste it in the air. Xeno's response prompted one delicate eyebrow from rising in amusement and a hint of disapproval. If he was still her student he would definitely get a reprimand for wearing such a combination to a Sith party. But for someone to see it fit to throw the Zabrak from the rampants just because of his choice of dress?

Still leaning slightly over him, the female Sith shot Xeno a wry smile. "Even I am not that petty to want to throw you off the cliffs for pairing a black suit with loafers, my dear," Hrist told the Zabrak with a light titter. "The most you'd get from me is a look of utter disapproval, and maybe a request for you to change into something more appropriate."

A delicate finger traced the column of his throat, trailing down to his exposed chest. Tilting her head to the side, she blinked once then shifted her gaze back at her fellow Marauder's face. Hrist had a feeling that there was something more to him ending up like this. Xeno felt prepared to elaborate, but she could also feel that he somehow didn't want to – at least not yet. The female Marauder rose from her seat then leaned down to briefly press her lips to his forehead.

"There's more to your sorry explanation, my dear Xeno," she told him as she straightened, not giving him enough time to sneak in whatever type of physical affection he wanted to express after she'd blessed him with a kiss on the forehead. "And I refuse to believe that another Marauder had overpowered you so easily."

Ruby eyes drilled into his own yellows, her gaze demanding and authoritative. They might be of the same rank now, but despite her cowardly nature Hrist would not be cowed by someone who had once been her student.

"Elaborate, and leave no detail unsaid," she told the Zabrak, voice as sweet as poisoned honey. "Who did this to you?"

Well it was clear to her that he was not looking to speak on the matter further, and now she had begun asking for more details. It was unfortunate. Xeno had to tell her what all happened. About the entire situation, the reason he was overpowered, the reason he had been sent out over the balcony and into the trees and finally to the ground. The reason he was currently unable to move. The reason he was only able to feel pain through his body, as if his nerves only knew one signal to send to the brain.

"I will tell you the rest.."

His voice shaky, and raspy. The Zabrak was not ready to tell her that he was in an altercation with Lord Raze of the Sith, but of course he knew it was only right to tell her. He needed to be honest with this woman, as she was looking for him to be honest with her. Now was the time. He looked into her ruby red eyes, and swallowed as best he could before continuing to speak.

"Bir Vuul was being questioned by Lord Raze... I chose to defend the Kel Dor, it looked like Raze was going to harm him.. Raze was already upset over my choice of footwear. It didn't help that I had started an altercation with him verbally."

Xeno felt ashamed that he had to tell her this way, but he was angry mostly. That dreaded Sith Lord was the cause of his pain. He knew he would need to get his revenge, but that moment would need to wait until the day that the Zabrak Marauder could gain the power to claim his place as a Lord and be able to stand against Raze at a common level of power. It would take some time but he knew eventually he would be able to get the chance. Was he out of his mind? Perhaps he was, though undoubtedly he would try.

Hands clasped behind her, Hrist slowly paced around the room as Xeno recounted the tale of how he came to be so injured. The reluctance and the subsequent defeat in his voice did not bode well, and already the female Marauder’s expression shifted from disappointed to anxious at the very mention of one particular Sith Lord.

Memories of Sullust came to the forefront of her mind like a flood, and with it came the fear that was only somehow eclipsed by the subservience ingrained into her by the men she both called Father. The metallic surface of a mask that carried the same coldness Darth Raze exuded, and with it came the feeling of being so small, so insignificant, when she remembered how the T of her stolen Mandalorian helmet reflected against his own. The memory of the Sith Lord never failed to make Hrist get a taste of that same intimidating aura he exuded, and she felt the burning grip of icy fear in her soul – the emotion she failed to keep to herself through her bond with Xeno through the Force. The Zabrak would feel his former Master’s fear, visceral and chilling.

While it was noble of him – as a Sith – to come to his colleague’s aid Hrist felt nothing but anger, aside from fear, towards Xeno as he finally revealed who it was that hurt him. Defending the Kel Dor was one thing, but blatantly showing disrespect to one of the Sith Lords?

And Darth Raze, at that?

Ruby eyes glowing, the room shook as Hrist shot Xeno a glare, teeth gnashing and fists clenching hard enough for her nails to cut through her palms.

"Have you any shred of an idea what your verbal sparring with Darth Raze – Darth Raze, of all the Sith Lords! – can do to me?" she hissed, not bothering to hide her anger and sheer disappointment towards her former student. In his weakened state Hrist would be able to easily overpower him, and Xeno would feel her presence through the Force turn heavy and oppressive. Fear and anger not his own would hammer against his mental defenses (if he was wise enough to erect them). Light fixtures and glass windows shattered as she lashed out with the Force, wood creaking and cracks zigzagging across the stone walls..

"Have you any idea how your insolence will affect my reputation in the Order? What if Darth Raze decided that he wanted to know who taught you when you were but an Acolyte? How could you do this to me, Xeno? You– You have–"

He had single-handedly disrespected her, had potentially ruined the reputation she had carefully constructed within the Order as Saragnayan the Mandalorian Sith. The Zabrak was lucky that he was only one of the few who knew who the person was behind that false persona, but it did nothing to bring whatever ounce of comfort Hrist was trying to look for. His behavior towards Darth Raze would reflect poorly on her as a mentor, as a Marauder.

It would be so easy to overpower Xeno, to hurt him. To kill him, even. But Hrist stayed her hand – there were punishments that outweighed the physical, and she would use this “love” he felt for her to make him pay for what he’d done. If he was expecting a physical punishment for what he did, then he was a fool.

"You're lucky you're currently bedridden or else I would have–" Hrist said after a moment's silence, refusing to look at her former student. She needed to calm down, but it was proving to be difficult with the ever-growing fear in her mind. She had been content to stay in the shadows, to operate in the background and letting the other Sith take whatever glory they sought. She had been content to stay as a nobody and serve the Eternal, but Xeno's actions would most probably force her out of the safe haven she had created for herself. "This discussion isn't over. You have much to do to earn my forgiveness, and right now I do not want to hear an apology from you."

Without any other word Hrist stormed out of the room, the door slamming shut behind her. As much as she loved using the protection her identity as Saragnayan offered her, the Marauder knew she had to shed that identity for the time being.

Cold.. chilling cold running through the body of Xeno. It was similar to what he felt when he was eye to neck with the Sith Lord Darth Raze. He could feel what she was feeling. It was fear. She was afraid. He hadn't known her to be afraid of anything. So for him to be feeling these emotions flowing from her, it was disheartening. He knew that he had failed her. He himself felt a fear within himself.. but it wasn't Raze..it was losing Hrist.. losing the woman he loved so dearly.

When she turned to face Xeno, he could see and feel the intensity of the anger within herself towards him. She hadn't ever been angry with him before. He didn't know what it was like to see and feel it. It was more terrifying than anything else he had ever seen. Not even Raze himself could bring this fear within the Zabrak. In fact, if given the chance, Xeno would fight Raze one on one a million times before feeling what he feels now.

"Hrist.. I'm-"

He couldn't get it out. She was furious and did not wish to hear him speak anymore.. He knew it was best to just keep his mouth shut and listen. When the room shook, and the walls would crack, he knew he would have to just hope she wasn't in the mood for further destruction. He knew he wouldn't be beaten or killed, he didn't know how he knew.. but he knew her enough to know she didn't want him dead. She just wanted him to learn. To learn to be respectful when the time permits, and to be powerful and strong the other times. It was a just thing he did, but it was also the close to the worst thing he could have done.

Every word she let out, he heard. It was tough for him to listen to her angry with him, to scold him. The pain in his throat grew, not because it hurt.. but because he had guilt within himself. He knew it was wrong to speak to Raze the way he did, but he did not think it would affect his former master in such a way. Tears would form within his eyes.. He couldn't look away from her though, he needed to heed her message for himself and for her. As she walked away, the tears would run down his face. He knew he was wrong.. it angered him that he upset his former master.. the woman he loved so much.

A week had passed after the dressing down Xeno received for his impudence and arrogance towards a Sith Lord he didn't have yet the power to defeat. A full week had passed with Hrist not even bothering to grace the Zabrak her presence, not even her shadow passing through the halls leading to his assigned room in her family's estate. Only her butler Montague and Cadre-brother Tomoegata were the ones to pay the Zabrak Marauder a visit, with Montague doing his duties to attend to Xeno's needs and Tomoegata... well, the half-Sephi was being paid for his medical expertise but every single day he strutted into the Zabrak's room all he ever did was to tease and demean Xeno for angering Hrist.

The masters of the estate themselves were yet to return home, a mercy in and of itself towards the Zabrak. Had either Jacques or Joaquin learned of what Xeno had done to harm their daughter's reputation, they would have already requested for Tomoegata to kill thr Marauder in his sleep. But the Cadre-brother had sworn to Hrist that he wouldn't tell – perhaps the female Marauder was starting to truly care for the Zabrak to shower him with that particular mercy despite the sheer anger and disappointment she still felt towards him.

Xeno should count himself lucky to continue earning the favor of the woman he so dearly loved.

"This is exactly one of the reasons why you should've just come and live with me, my lovely," Tomoegata said, cup of tea in one hand and carmine eyes gazing at his Cadre-sister with barely concealed desire. "We may have been conditioned to serve the Sith, but you should know by now that we're capable of becoming more than that."

The two former Cadre-subjects sat on the same veranda where Hrist decided that Xeno was worthy enough to get a glimpse of her horrible past. The female Marauder wore nothing too fancy today, and was instead clad in a baggy hoodie with the hem slipping past her lower thighs, and a pair of short shorts. She sat on her chair with her knees tucked to her chest. Her russet hair was up in a messy bun, and while she didn't look like the perfect epitome of the lady of the Aufreisser Estate she paid her current state of dress no heed. Her problems with Xeno and what he had done far outweighed how she currently looked, and if Tomoegata's words were to be trusted Hrist still looked as breath-taking as she did when properly dressed.

The Marauder knew that she was beautiful, but she found no understanding in her Cadre-brother's description. If she was indeed breath-taking, then why did he still draw breath?

Men were so confusing.

"I know where I belong, Tomoegata," she replied, unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes at his answering chuckle. "And even if my place in the Order has been compromised because of what my foolhardy former student did, I will stay."

Placing the teacup down and rising from his seat, the half-Sephi approached the Epicanthix and leaned down towards her – his movements open and non-threatening – to press a pair of black-tinted lips to her forehead tenderly.

"And should you change your mind you know where to find me, my dear Hrist," he muttered against her hair before standing up to his full height once more. Beaming down at the female Sith, the half-Sephi continued before taking his leave, "I did what I could for your little soldier. You should dispose of him if he still cannot strength the strength to walk here even after a week's worth of my careful medical ministrations."

"Montague told me that all you did was bully him,"
she commented, shooting her Cadre-brother an unimpressed stare. To his credit, Tomoegata simply laughed before waving goodbye and leaving. The half-Sephi had already received compensation for his work, and Hrist bid the towering man a rather fond farewell – he had been her only friend in the facility, after all. From one defective product to another...

The female Marauder summoned Montague afterwards, bidding the butler to tell Xeno to meet Hrist. It wasn't a matter of if the Zabrak could show his face or have the strength to get out of bed – it was an order that brooked no argument, and if he wanted to earn his former Master's forgiveness Xeno would make his way to her, even if he had to crawl upon the floor.

Waking up from his medically induced sleep, Xeno lied in his bed staring at the ceiling. The pain was not as immense as before though he could still feel the pain course through him with sudden movements. With that, he slowly rolled to his side letting his legs come off the bed and then assume a seated position. His joints cracked and his muscles had stretched. It was painful, though bearable. He had felt it mainly in his throat and his ribs. The Zabrak decided to stand. It was slow, but he had made it his feet. The knees were filled with immense blunt pain but after he stood for a moment the pain began to fade.

He started with one step, then another. For a moment he felt like he would need to learn to walk once more, but fortunately he began to gain control of his movement. He had reached the door when he could hear voices down the hall. It was both Hrist and that dreaded doctor guy that had terrible breath. They were speaking about Xeno.. but what exactly about him? Only one way to find out.

Xeno began his silent limp to the edge of the wall to peek around and see the former master and the half sephi speaking to each other. He had gotten close to her and then kissed her.. The Zabrak Champion turned back around and leaned against the wall.. she had let him get close.. let for a kiss to slip from his lips.. she had not shown a loyalty to Xeno.. why? Why would she let another man do this? Why had she been so confusing..? When he heard her call for Montague to grab Xeno for her, he put on a face and would turn around the corner and limp slightly to the former master.

"Lucky for you I was just coming in here.. what did you need me for?"

She felt his presence before she could hear him. Lifting one dainty hand, she gestured for him to takr the seat opposite hers. Hrist wouldn't bother caring what Xeno might think of her current appearance – she was still angry, still disappointed... wasn't she allowed to wallow in these negative emotions, not allowed for her feelings to reflect in the way she dressed in her own home?

The female Sith shifted on her seat, letting her bare feet touch the ground as her ruby gaze settled on the Zabrak's yellows. She crossed her arms and leaned back on her seat, eyeing him for a few, unnerving moments. The corners of her lips briefly turned down at the tone he used on her – and while it wasn't disrespectful in a way a small part of her missed the way Xeno had addressed her with reverence when they were still Master and student. The sullen look on her face turned into that of confusion, brows furrowing with curiosity. Hrist pursed her lips at the emotion, the sentimentality of it.

Curious. Very much so.

She didn't reply to his question immediately. Instead she turned her attention inward, mental barriers rising in accordance to her silent command. Hrist was angry at what Xeno did, yes... but she could tell that something else dictated that anger. Perhaps her fathers were right, perhaps even Tomoegata, as well.

While she was incapable of reciprocating the love Xeno felt for her, Hrist had come to... care for the Zabrak. He had his uses and she planned on utilizing them, but she was beginning to care for him like the men who raised her did with her. Her fathers used her to further their agenda, but they also cared for her. She was an asset, and at the same time she was their irreplaceable daughter.

Hrist was never one to share her past with anyone, let alone use it to explain her erratic behavior. But she had shared a part of it with Xeno to explain why she had inadvertently and unconsciously hurt him. She had trusted him with her past, trusted that he would keep it a secret.

Comparing Xeno with Tomoegata was odd, to say the least. The latter was one of her Cadre-siblings in the Cadre Project. Both men had expressed interest towards her and while Tomoegata expressed it with desire, Xeno had done his with love. A completely alien concept to a brainwashed child who had grown into an equally brainwashed woman a robot who was taught to only serve. A robot who was taught to adapt and adopt emotions.

And Hrist was always a good girl.

But why was Xeno so infuriatingly confusing? Why did he have to feel this... love... towards her? And why her, of all people?

Was it because she took him from Dathomir? Was it because she offered to train him, to take him under her wing as an Acolyte? Hrist might have been a robot but she knew she had her faults, knew that her fathers were the limitations that prevented her from fully teaching Xeno what he needed to learn from her when he was still her student.

She kept her musings to herself, barricaded by the mental walls she had erected so he won't be able to get a read on her through their bond.

And then there was this bond between the two of them through the Force.

Letting out a tired sigh, Hrist banished the thoughts to the back of her mind for further inspection and brought her attention back to the present. Crossing her legs, the red-haired Sith absently waved a hand to where Tomoegata had exited.

"I apologize for any harassment my Cadre-brother had caused you while tending to your injuries," she offered almost absent-mindedly, her other hand rising to wipe at the spot where the half-Sephi's lips have been. Sometimes she envied the tall man's ability to get over the trauma they received in their childhood. If only she had been as brave in the face of nightmares as he did, then she wouldn't have issues about receiving harmless physical contact without her consent.

Instead of answering Xeno's question, she gave him hers. The question was borne out of sheer curiosity, and without a trace of her previous disappointment towards him.

"Why did you have to start a... verbal altercation with Darth Raze?" she asked, not meaning Xeno's action of standing up for the Kel Dor, Bir Vuul, in the slightest. "And no, I don't mean in the way that you found it prudent to stand up for another Sith. Why didn't you simply grab your friend, apologize for any offense you might have done, and walk away?"

Because that was what she would have done. Thay was what she was taught. To remain where she stood and serve her Lords and Masters.

And most importantly...

"Where did you get the courage to sass a Sith Lord, out of all the guests in that party?"

Courage. That was what she lacked, oit of everything she had been taught and molded for. Was that the proper word to describe Xeno's action, though? Courage? Or was it blind foolishness?

She was closed off, it was clear to him. He knew she wouldn't forget what he did so easily, and had come to accept that. She was angry with him, and upset over the situation. He understood that. Though he felt he was in the right for what he did. Bir is his only friend, and he did not want to see them get hurt. Had he been able to do things differently? Sure, any other being would have. Not Xeno. He knew everyone was afraid of Raze. Maybe it was his height, or his physique. Maybe just the fact he was a Lord. Xeno did not care about any of that.

No, he saw Raze as what he truly is.. a bully. Xeno may not be the nicest person, or even close to it. But, Raze was a known evil man. The fact that Raze doesn't talk things through with people just shows that he is incapable of being a leader. Xeno had to show that not everyone fears him. The Zabrak needed to know HE didn't fear him. It became clear when he spoke back in such a tone to show he was defiant, and was not afraid. What happened after just solidified Raze's spot on the to-do list right above Artorigas. It had to be done.

As for his former master's apology, he simply shrugged it off as he crossed his arms. She wasn't the only one upset in the moment. That other man was on the to-do list as well. Xeno will get to that eventually, but for now he explains why he did what he did.

"I did what I did, because I do not fear him as you do. As everyone does.. He is just another man. He is no different than the other Sith. What makes him think he can just do as he pleases to other Sith? Make them fear him after doing niceties for him. Try to make me cower before him for mot realizing what shoes I had on. What makes him think he is worth being feared? I don't care if he were the Emperor. Or if he was an Acolyte. He deserves what is coming to him and I will see to it that it does. I am not afraid of the oversized meat head, and I will prove it by killing him."

Xeno looked at his former master after a small moment of silence before he would speak up after looking away from her,

"..or die trying.."
