Hi Darasuum. If your character had investigative abilities of any kind, we could really use him on this thread:
http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-scorched-nerf-cantina.65120/

We were building up a bit of a murder investigation type thing. Benvenu7 is having trouble keeping up with all his threads at the moment.
No worries if that's not what you're thinking of. Please let me know either way. Thanks :)

Were not the justice system. Let me explain better.

We have "Prosecutors" like I said and we also have NPC's who do a majority of the work. The "Administration" branch tries the criminals but an NPC judge and jury convicts them. So the Rangers provide their own prosecutors, much like states do, but the judges and jury members are not a part of the Sector Rangers.

I hope this eases your concern.

ADMINISTRATION :D

Alright if i have time this afternoon i'll start working on it. Yeah she's going to be like an ex-republic intelligence agent and now more of a Cate Blanchet from Sicario character. Good, righteous and talented but also some what jaded though still not 100% understanding how truelly dark the galaxy can be at times.

Thought it over and it will be a male character. He's going to be a field operative.

Could I join? I mainly Roleplay with droids, combat droids in particular, but I didn't see anything up there about limiting species anyway. But yeah, I would like to join if it is okay with y'all and if it isn't a crime to use a droid for law enforcement.

Alright, that sounds good. Maybe make up my own model or something, like a "RG-series Artificial Sector Ranger," or something of the sort. Sounds good to you?

Sector Rangers
"What others abandon, we protect."

Overview
Justified-Season-4-Promotional-Photos-justified-35525192-472-543.jpg
The Sector Rangers rank as one of the oldest of Republic institutions, created by the Senates mandate for a universal police force charged with apprehending criminals and keeping the peace throughout Republic space. While most police agencies are limited by their jurisdictional boundaries- rarely covering more than a single planet or system- Sector Rangers can and often do track their charges from one end of Republic space to the other, and have even been known to pursue fugitives well into the Unknown Regions and the Outer Rim in order to bring them back to trial. Sector Rangers are responsible for investigating and bringing to justice the worst of the worst- slavers and kidnappers, high profile smugglers, inter-galactic organized crime members, and murderers and serial killers of all kinds. Generally working alone or in pairs as they chase criminals all across the galaxy, their exploits have lead to the Rangers becoming an almost mythical organization in the public eye, and the "Lone Ranger" has been the subject of dozens of holo-dramas. Unfortunately for modern Rangers, that sort of public sentiment hasn't translated into extra funding from the Senate.

Organization
star_wars_gand_sniper_by_arvalis-d6ldd99.jpg
There hasn't been a lot of change from the Sector Rangers inception as far as organization goes. The Rangers are overseen by the Director of Public safety, and the Director is in turn overseen by the Senate sub-committee for Public Safety. Under the Director, the agency is broadly divided into two sections- Operations and Administration. The Operations section is further divided into sectors which house each individual Ranger's Jurisdiction. Rangers are assigned to a Sector, with each Sector being headed by a Special Enforcement Officer who overseas the work of all the Rangers in his or her sector. Traditionally though, this has little to do with the area a Ranger actually covers- since their jurisdiction stretches the length and breadth of Republic space and sometimes beyond, being assigned to a sector simply means that that sector is where most of a Rangers cases originate from. To be a part of Operations is a great honor that is not handed out easily. Every Ranger falls under the operations branch, and every ranger can promise you it is a title hard earned, and well deserved. Covered under the umbrella of Administration is all the various technical support staff needed to run investigations- database analysts, code breakers, translators, liaisons, and the various engineers that design and field the Rangers weapons, vehicles, and technical equipment. Administrations is, as can be expected, made up of a small and overworked staff that handle all of the agencies administrative needs including pay and allowances, housing, paralegal services, etc. Administration is based primarily on Coruscant, with a few agents posted to each Sector Headquarters.

What makes a Sector Ranger?
star_wars_bossk_by_arvalis-d6c4lzo.jpg
Ask any veteran what are the best qualities one can look for in a Ranger and he'll tell you without hesitation- Integrity and Resourcefulness. Rangers are expected to be the very best, but they're not always given the very best to work with. They work on the fringes of civilized society, often alone, undercover, with no backup waiting around the corner and no cavalry coming over the next hill, and with no technical edge or physical advantage over his quarry. They come from all walks of life, all species, all backgrounds, and they all have different styles. But the Ranger more often than not has to figure it out on his own, do the right thing, and he has to bring his quarry to court. Rangers pride themselves on bringing in such a high number of criminals alive and unharmed, upholding the law and holding themselves to a standard matched by few. They follow their own investigations through from start to finish, never leaving business unfinished or a score unsettled. They are the shining example of Law Enforcement, untouched by corruption or politics, and existing for one purpose and one purpose only - Justice.

What can a Ranger do?
Society rises and falls with the times, and unfortunately times have become hard for the Rangers. As an intergalactic organization, they rely solely on the year to year funding from the Senate and its member systems. Sometimes this means the Rangers are swimming in credits (usually following some major terrorist attack) but more often than not it means they are under manned, under funded, and under appreciated by the politicians that employ them. Despite budgetary concerns, all Rangers undergo extremely thorough training in investigative techniques, legal guidelines, technical collection methods, combat and piloting, and other myriad professional skills. Beyond this training, many Rangers bringing with them a wealth of previous experience as Law Enforcement Officers, Bounty Hunters, and Mercenaries looking to do some good with their lives. While cheap holo-flicks show Rangers commandeering entire local fleets in search of their enemies, the reality is that bureaucratic red tape limits their acquisition powers or slows the process down so much as to be nearly useless, and a Ranger is often assigned only a lowly liaison or escort to guide him about. So while Rangers can always request the assistance, military or police, of whatever system they're working in, more often than not a Ranger is on his own. Sector offices and smaller system offices can provide limited support in the form of vehicles, weapons, equipment, and intelligence reports.

OOC Notes
Now that you know what the Sector rangers are and what it means to be a Sector Ranger, In character. I feel that it is necessary to explain what it means to be a Sector Ranger Out of Character. Now I could tell you this? But I could never tell you as good as @Loco so without further ado the message that started it all:

"Many of you may have noticed that crime and criminals are a recurring them around here. We've got smugglers and Hutts and blackmarket dealers, assassins, unruly fringe characters starting shootouts in cantinas across the galaxy, etc... There has always been at least one faction at any given time, be it indie or main, that is entirely devoted to making money through the liberal application of racketeering and extortion. We currently have the Hutts, before that it was the Retrade, and before that it was Black Sun. Next timeline were likely looking at relaunches of many of these institutions. What we have never consistently had is a method to combat them.

Some of you may remember the Waste Rangers. The Rangers were a dedicated group of psuedo-law enforcement and do-gooders that attracted quiet a member base and popularity, until I think they finally went down in a blaze of glory against the Hutts earlier this year. IMHO though, the WR never quiet went far enough.

An idea I've been kicking around for awhile is a dedicated faction of investigators, analysts, and prosecutors with intergalactic jurisdiction (like a super INTERPOL) who's sole purpose is fighting these prolific criminal elements wherever they rear their ugly heads. The difference in how this was done before though is that rather than just passively do missions and make our presence known, these agents would ACTIVELY and AGGRESSIVELY target enemy characters and their criminal enterprises in effort to arrest and try them for their crimes through all manner of legal means. I've got a lot of ideas about how a group like this could be implemented, but I wanted to put it out there and see if there's any real interest for the concept before I get too invested in it, and I believe collaboration is the best way to get things off the ground.

So, I'm opening up the floor. Is this something you might be interested in? What kind of implementable ideas do you have? Any insight from you slimy Hutts out there, or would you be interested in having some real rivals for a change?

Just think of all the TV and movie cop tropes. There's so much joke potential here."

Standard Ranger Equipment
Due to the fact that the Sector Ranger's are underfunded and unappreciated, the Sector Rangers do not have all the new and fancy toy's. They get what they get and they make the best of it. This attitude has helped them stay true and always rely on the individual Ranger and not his equipment. However this does not stop the individual Ranger from modifying any of the standard equipment, or from purchasing their own.

Standard Issue Ship
Standard Ranger Body Armor

Affiliation: BlasTech Industries

Intent: A commonly seen and used blaster pistol that sets the theme for weaponry in the new timeline. This is a widely available pistol and can be used by PC or NPCs alike.

Model: EB-4 Combat Pistol

Type: Blaster Pistol

Size: Standard blaster pistol

Composition: durasteel barrel and mechanisms, plastoid-based polymer casing

Range: 40m, 10m stun

Ammunition Capacity: 14 rounds

Description: The EB-4 is a semi-automatic pistol widely renowned for it's reliability, ease of service, and affordable cost. Anybody with a basic toolkit can clean and service the weapon in the field. The EB-4 comes with a stun setting which fires from underneath the main barrel and uses the same amount of ammunition and rate of fire the regular lethal setting uses. The stun setting is severely limited in range, but offers security and bounty hunters a much-needed less-than-lethal option. A rail allows for the installation of a flashlight or an alternative sight.

The low cost and ease of service comes at a small price. It does not have quite the range as other pistols, nor does it reach the highest capacity capable. Still, that doesn't deter planetary and private security forces that use the EB-4.

Other basic equipment includes the Rangers Badge (Seen at the top curtesy of @Fen Vel )

Random Notes from Me
Thank you for being patient. Now once this thing is approved by @Dmitri we can kick some ass.

Thanks,
