Smuggler Faction

Hey guys!
Although my character Davian Price isn't necessarily a smuggler, as @Shalken mentioned he will be business partners with Magnus eventually and having some connections with the black market/illegal stuff. If anyone is interested, I'd love to have Davian already acquainted with a few people's PCs in the business area since he's a generally sociable guy and well-known among the ship business on Coruscant.

Also, Dyson is pretty much up for anything as long as it gives him credits. I guess it depends on how rare these species are, and how big/dangerous. He will technically be "legally transporting" unrefined Andris from other worlds in the core and inner rim. Andris without being refined is basically a condiment, but inside those containers he will be transporting packages of the refined "spice". He likely wouldn't mind picking up something along the way.

@Vosrik I'm sure plenty of people in this faction of smugglers would be interested, including myself. I think you can request things to be smuggled through a method of a tiny little sign up thing, if @Galavant still plans on doing that. So he doesn't even necessarily need connections as much as he might want to know where to post things up, unless you don't mind those pesky space rangers coming after you as well.

So basically, being a Space Elf Arkanian Offshoot/Sephi hybrid, I'm planning to have Nova - my character - obtain an Arkanian Tundra Wolf as animal companion.
The wolf is a creature of my own design, but not unlike a dire wolf - a genuine nerf herder.

He meets the creature on Arkania and they part ways only to find him, years later, imprisoned to some Corellian Hutt as an arena beast. He rescues the animal, steals one of the Hutt's ship, and travels back to Coruscant. He then ditches the ship and needs to arrange a transport off-world; not only for himself, but for his wolf friend also - which, obviously, needs to be smuggled from Coruscant back to Arkania.

I'm dead set on having the animal on Nova's backstory but, in case the pet is not allowed, I'll RP them partying ways for good on Arkania. The wolf is not intended for PvP purposes, but simply for RP.

@Vosrik I've talked with Shalken on my Workshop thread. I'd like Nova to cross paths with both Devian and Magnus while on Coruscant.

Thanks guys! My only concern was that while his backstory says how 'popular and well known' he is, I currently have zero affiliates which does seem a bit contradictory xD I really can't wait for the new timeline to begin though!

Something like that could work! I think you might need to run the wolf through the species, planets, technology, board for acceptance before use in rp though, but I have no idea what the rules will be for the next timeline so I might be completely wrong.

Though Dyson will start on Corellia, and likely head further out into the Inner and Outer Rims, we could very well do a sort of flash back thing involving him doing the run before he gets to Corellia. Maybe they can get in a dicey situation, and your character can somehow prove his metal. At least enough to get him to want to try and recruit your guy, and send him to wherever he needs to be to be recruited.

@Vosrik Smugglers would be good connections. Though as a little advice, I would also suggest looking for connections in Indie factions like Czerka, as well as the Senate. There is a cool thread called 6 degrees of the force, in which you can see all the connections people have planned for the new timeline. You can tag people and try to forge relationships in that thread even more effectively because it is centered around that.

@Beta12 Just so we're on the same page, the run in question will have to be between Coruscant and Arkania (to smuggle the animal back), and I'm imagining it happening some time before the start of the timeline - a couple of years or so - so Nova can join ORCA and settle in before the timeline actually starts. So yeah, I think RPing some sort of flashback, as soon as DoTR is launched, would be for the best.

We'll talk more via PM, but not now. I need to get some sleep soon.

I hope you have a nice night! If you want to do it several years before the start of the timeline then unfortunately you will have to find another smuggler for the backstory, as Dyson has spent most of his life on Zeltros, and has only become a smuggler around 6 months to a year before the timeline starts.

The whole point of me not having written the last chapter of Nova's Bio yet, is to allow me some leeway to add or take away years from his smuggling career in order to adjust the end of the Bio to the start of the timeline. I'm thinking of a number between one and five but, most likely, it will be two years; still, since it's not yet decided, we can't rule out the possibility of Dyson being the guy that helps me smuggle the wolf back to Arkania.

With no disrespect to @Beta12 I think Andrena works better for the role. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but Nova has an old - "broken" - spaceship resting on Arkania. The plot is pretty straightforward; he goes there to smuggle the wolf with ORCA's help, remembers the ship, repairs it, starts smuggling with/for ORCA.
Being an accomplished engineer (and a bit of a space freak), your character would be perfect to help me repair Eidolon - the ship.

P.S.: I haven't really done much research on tech, and what is and isn't allowed as a starting point on the site. I was planning of using the XS stock light freighter as a personal ship. Do you think that'll be okay or do you have any other suggestion?

The way I see it, that RP is either happening right before he abandons his Jedi Master and boards a starferry bound to Corellia, or is happening after he returns to Coruscant and leaves for Arkania trying to smuggle the tundra wolf to its homeworld.

Thing is, on both scenarios he'll be desperate to leave the planet in a hurry, and on the second one @Galavant 's PC needs to be there - if he agrees to be the one to play that role on Nova's background.

It seems that the first option might be more viable - Davian, Vosrik's character, doesn't know that Magnus has experience in smuggling and trading illegal materials. It might be better off if they all met and made general acquaintances first, and then meet up later on down the road once they've started smuggling.

Also, perhaps we should move this to a PM group - we seem to be flooding this thread with RP OOC chat :P
