In highschool my friend and I went through the library's computers and fixed the spell check so when certain names were entered, they would be auto corrected to something profane. I have a feeling its part of the reason why they stopped allowing students from using the computers after school. >:3

I do it when I feel I need to, but sometimes I do it in anger. Never around most of my sensitive family though.

I rarely swear, and when I do I usually am very mad. btw all of you who are picking on Padme stop, she is making a point that I think is somewhat valid. I think some words should be edited, except the f word (which should become ****), to be clean. Which I believe they are.

In the interest of science I just performed a test upon every cuss/curse/swear word I can think of (you'd be surprised how long the list was). Out of everything, SWRP is proud to announce that the only word censored is the f-bomb.

It's called common sense, people. You use it in real life, use it here. Don't say things to others here you would not say to (some) people in real life.

Anything I say here, I'd say in real life. So when I go to Gaja and tell him to get his ass into a thread, then proceed to call him curses for teh lulz. Yea, I'd DEFINITELY do that in real life. Hell, I'd say worse. But only cause I love you Gaja :CHappy

HEY GUYS. STAHP. STAHP BEING MEAN.

We're picking on Padme because she ****ing loves it and gives as good as she gets. And I happen to know that she enjoys a swear-word in her time or two.

I won't say you're white-knighting because I think your intent is sincere if adorably misguided (*pinches your nose* aren't you chivalrous?) and sort of indicative of the weird and calcified social rules we have about swearing.

But whatevs.

Boli: I would suggest replacing Bac with Taintknuckle McTwatlligan III. Give it a sort of privileged inbred feel .

This.
Any who, question here is why do you swear? Is there such thing as tasteful swearing?
Just to clarify, Padmé technically asked us to explain our views of swearing. So far the consensus is an overwhelming "**** yeah!"
There's no harm in reiterating the point either.

I don' consider swearing swearing in that they are just words that can indeed be used too often as filler or for some reason be branded as a sinful act. It is EXTREMELY sociological. The paradox to me has always been that kids are told it is adult language but are discouraged from using it when they are older. To me as long as it is not being used in the tense of insults that it is fine as an additive or just as regular vernacular. I prefer not to swear in front of children or loudly in public because I don't want to hamper anyone elses' enjoyment of the public sphere.

I swear for the same reason I say words like "taco", "paper", "car", "silly", etc.

I wasn't raised in an enviroment where swear words were considered extraordinary speech. "That guy's a ****ing idiot" and "that guy's an idiot" both have the same meaning and harshness as far as I'm concerned.

Curse words, fine. No problem. Easy to use and get the point across.

Exaggeration and overuse or misuse of words like "literally" and saying something took "1000 years" to accomplish bugs the ****ing **** out of me.

I curse.

All the damn time.

Like, every two words out of my mouth can be a curse word if I'm on a decent streak.

But I curse because it's part of my culture, really. Northern Norwegians have well over two thousand different curse/swear words and phrases. You English-speakers are too tame, falling back on just one sexually charged little word. There was a famous case down south, where a man got dragged to court for swearing at a police officer that was giving him a ticket, and the judge ruled he couldn't be blamed for it, because he was from Northern Norway, where cursing is part of the culture. (He still had to pay the speeding ticket though)

I swear all the time. I think over here there is a different opinion regarding swearing because how little Christianity is involved in Britain by comparison with America.

Pfft, the British got all antsy when Australia released out "Where the bloody hell are you?" tourism campaign with Lara Bingle.

I swear for emphasis when dealing with regular people. In front of kids I never swear unless I'm falling down the stairs again or something because **** that.

With my friends however every second or third word could be a swear if we're pissed o drunk enough. It all really depends.
