I like the idea, but I could see a lot of members whining and thinking we're playing favorites or taking sides and purposely screwing over a faction or helping one. This is swrp and people like to throw fits : P

I'd be down with the events, but the scale of the destructive ones would have to be toned down.

Any chance that Coruscant can... y'know... get destroyed? Permanently? Sometime during the timeline and all.... It may be a constant fixture in SW lore but... no one's exactly asked 'What would happen to the galaxy if Coruscant was destroyed utterly?'. Just my only serious suggestion/question.

It was pretty solidly wrecked in the Vong war, which led to a generally unstable Republic.

Shortly after they started whipping ass, though.

It got wrecked, not destroyed. I mean destroyed as in Alderaan-style destroyed.

I think it's safe to say if the galaxy was unstable while it was merely wrecked, then it'd be a giant cluster**** if it was outright obliterated. So the likelihood of Coruscant getting derpsploded is right in the neighborhood of 'big fat zero'.

Here's something to throw out that's in this same light --

What would you guys think of the staff throwing curve balls into the RP every once and awhile that factions and characters would unexpectedly have to deal with?

For example, a famine could sweep across a major planet. An asteroid could be headed towards a moon base. A supernova could threaten nearby star systems. Etc. Etc. Etc.

It gives people new things to deal with that otherwise wouldn't have happened, and the reactions to these things could potentially help determine the course of the timeline.

We wouldn't do things in favor of any particular faction, though, at least not on purpose.

Do eet

That's true. Not that the admins would purposely do that, but whining would happen. Besides, factions can always do that themselves as to spur activity amongst the faction.

"Get yo ass in gear or this here fine asteroid is gonna derplode your home."

Since I'm waiting for someone to be my master and hopefully rp with me I'm just going to throw this out there. Don't ban me lol

Overview

Battles are solely done and decided through role-playing. Simply put one of the participants will post in the appropriate forum requesting a battle and specify what type of battle it will be and who will participate in the battle.

An available staff member will start a thread in the appropriate forum which will include a post with the battle information, the participants characters' information and a description of the area in which the fight will take place.

Participants are each allowed one post during a round. After each round the staff member, acting as the judge, will evaluate each post and announce the winner of that round. The participant/s with the most rounds won will be declared the victor. After the winner is announce each character is required to post one more time to end the confrontation in the manner that the judge decides.

Battle Types

Spars

Spars are non-lethal fights that can only be done with an ally. In some cases a Spar may result in an accidental injury or even death but this is influenced by the quality of the role-play and the discretion of the judge. To participate in a spar the characters involved must have met at least once IC in a separate RP thread. A Spar lasts for 3 rounds.

Skirmishes

Skirmishes are less-lethal battles and is used to resolve disputes. A Skirmish does not necessarily allow a character to walk away unharmed or even alive but this is determined by the quality of the role-play and the discretion of the judge. To participate in a Skirmish the characters involved must have a valid IC reason. Skirmishes last for 5 rounds.

Death Matches

Death Matches are lethal confrontations and are used to resolve grudges between characters. All Death Matches do not necessarily result in death or even serious injury but whether a character survives unscathed or not is up to the quality of the role-play and the discretion of the judge. To participate in a Death Match the characters involved must have a valid IC reason and must have met at least once in a RP thread or in a Skirmish. Death Matches lasts for 7 rounds.

I'd like to see SWRP's favicon back. Even if you lost the .ico file, it takes two seconds to make a new one in photoshop and pop it in the root directory. I know it's a purely aesthetic request that's not important, but I thought I should say something anyway. It's been awhile now since it's been gone.

I believe that I even stressed this issue a long time ago, perhaps during May? Anyways, yes a new favicon would mend many eye-sores on my bookmarks toolbar.

It's good and I can see where this could be discussed, but it's too structured and unnecessary, we do fine roleplaying battles and the free formed writing style that the sight holds contributes to it's success and fun. Getting rid of this would affect that greatly. Plus many problems could arise seeing as how everybody has their own individual time schedules. Battles would never end, especially if a single admin alone was in charge of a battle thread, it would leave busy admins even more busy than they already are. It would also leave more important issues than a blow-by-blow watch on every battle thread neglected.

I didn't like that idea much anyway lol How about a reputation system rather? As your character completes a mission or defeats/captures an enemy the character receives points depending on the difficulty of the situation.

Would make determining when to rank up whether it be from padawan to knight or knight to master; whether its being able to take the knight or master trails or being able to advance due to achievement.

The more you do and achieve means that you've been working harder right? Like how Obi and Ani got famous. So think it's a cool way to keep track and to know when to rank up. Plus it can be used IC as well. Bounty Hunters or Sith can go after a character with a high reputation/fame for larger bounties etc.

Favicon: I believe it is the very small image that you see in your tab. IE next to the site name or URL depending on your Browser

As for Kalen's suggestion. There is no real point to a reputation system. Each person is decided by there master if they are ready to become a knight and then they are confirmed by the head of the order. Problem with adding a reputation system is that each person has there own learning pace and some people will be ready far sooner than others. Besides adding a reputation system will just add mechanics to a free flow rp.
