Glott is a pretty skilled guy and eventually would love to do some classes. In the meantime, I'll look into more stuff soon and get back to you on write ups.

I had a mini-mission idea that would take place entirely within the Corusca. I need two volunteers.

A Bump in the Night...
[2 Players]
"Yeh, so it's not the prettiest ship ever. We've got holes in the outer plating and in the main hull, and some of the non-critical internal sections still have their atmosphere vented. Droids and maintenance personnel having been working round the clock to install temporary hull patches and repair important wiring so that we can re-seal and restore power to those sections. Here's the problem- We've lost three droids now, and one of the Gand mechanics came back yesterday so frightened that he's still sitting in the infirmary unable to speak anything other than gibberish. Now half the crew's muttering on about demons and ghosts and giant kriffing mynocks and all sorts of other superstitions osik, and work has come to a stand still. I don't believe any of that junk, but with the inner hull open to vacuum for so long, who knows what may have come home to roost while we were sitting in an asteroid field somewhere. Go in there, clean it out, and report back. We need those sections back on line." -Captain Atin'al

OBJECTIVES:
  • Explore the vented sections and the storage spaces between the inner and outer hull
  • Figure out what's been terrorizing the crew
  • Kill it with fire

ASSIGNED:
Glott Lorinz (Bauren)
Burc'ya Marren (Ender)

You guys should be able to do this one without any real NPCers, but I may shoot one or the other of you twists through PM as you go [ninja emote >.>]

First order of business today: I keep trying to update the opening post (I've edited the ships profile, if you hadn't noticed), but every time I try to insert links it screws up the whole post (kills spoiler tags, reverses paragraph coding, etc). I'm not having this problem anywhere else on the site, AFAIK. Any ideas?

Second: Before Bombad Prisoner re-opens, I would like for us to try to get in one good mission- something we can check off the Rebels list. I have a mind to tackle "Where do they keep all the pretty toys?", which would secure us a whole squadron of brand spanking new T-67 X-Wings for Violet squadron, and more besides- a resounding symbolic victory for the Rebellion. I'm still waiting to hear from Cortan to see if the previously assigned team ever got off the ground for this one. Does this sound like a plan? If so, start brainstorming ideas for how we go about hijacking a grav-train. If not, is there another mission you have an eye on for us? I'd prefer we get one of the more action packed ones going, given our make-up.

Third: I'm going to put up a thread at some point for an impromptu sparring session with Arya. First come first serve >.>

They didn't get it off the ground, no. So instead, you will get those X-Wings off the ground.

Well as plans for the highjacking a grav-train I think we could try deceiving security onboard into thinking we're going to take the whole train in order to divide their defense efforts. To make it more believable one or two teams go after the cockpit of the grav-train to hopefully draw most of the defenders while another team raids the cart holding the x-wings and get them out.

Then again someone else likely got a better plan.

How about this. Team 1 makes a move for the cockpit. Then during the assult we take out there comms. Then we make a move on our actual target. This way most of there forces move for eam 1 the decoy not team 2. Team 1 then abonds the train. Maybe use some exsplosives.

Here's my initial idea, IOT make maximum use of the crew. It's got a lot of moving pieces, and we'll have to up the difficulty accordingly, but here goes. The operation has three parts.

Part 1- Insoulent (or someone else who thinks they are suited for the task) infiltrates the grav train alone to set the stage. Explosives are placed on both sides of the cars containing X-Wings to separate them from the rest of the train once the operation is under way, and then disables communications and sensors and gives the rest of us the go signal.

Part 2- Team one launches an attack near the front of the train, in an apparent attempt to hijack the lead engine and also to push backward toward the X-Wings, drawing the defenders into a pitched firefight. Once the defenses are sufficiently lured, our infiltrator separates the cars.

Part 3- Team two, composed of Violet squadron and our next most capable pilots, breach the cars containing X-wings, having to deal only with whatever guards are left there. Once the fighters are secured, everyone breaks for orbit and makes an escape.

^Rough draft, but it gets us the maximum number of participants. That's a lot of people for one thread, so we have to put in special effort to make things run smoothly.

Everything done on one thread, while members bow in and out of the thread depending on the phase of the mission. Never seen that before on the forum before and sounds rather interesting, it can test just how active and quickly the crew can be. I'd love to have Alice in on this regardless of what route we take the thread into.

I was debating these two options, but this (above) is what I'm leaning towards. It would be an interesting way to run things, and it alleviates the burden of having to manage two threads for the same mission- especially since there's so much risk of crossover between the teams.

Team wise, here's what I've got now-

Team 1- prep-work
Alice

Team 2- distraction
Tex and Higs

Team 3- pilots
Arya and Forim

The others can join if they want, or remain in reserve on the Corusca to bail us out.

I hate double posting, but are you guys good with the above? I'd like to get the ball rolling on this before we get too scattered or people start losing interest.

I've got us an NPCer/PC opposition (everyone say thank you Fat Possum!), however, he'll be going on vacation the 9th through the 16th. I don't think that'll be a major problem- it will give us time to formulate good openers. I intend to open the thread tomorrow, and I'll make a posting order so as not to let things get out of control. As discussed, this will be a little different to the way things have run in the past, and given that and the unbalance I've told Possum that we'll work with him in whatever way necessary to ensure things remain fair and run smoothly.
