Emily shrugged when he mentioned her blood and chalked it up to their discussion earlier about how he must have fought her mother, or grandmother. While they looked very similar in human forms, their demon ones were all too different. The most significant of changes was that her mother didn't have wings like she did. She got those from dear old dad.

He then whispered an apology to her which made her puzzled. She looked up only he wasn't sitting across from her anymore. Before she could ask where he'd gone she was yanked from the chair and his teeth were sinking into her neck. Emily shrieked with a loud whimpering moan. Her legs kicked out trying to find ground but the iron vice grip around her torso held her still. Even her wings were being restrained by his might.

Emily's whole body went slack against him as he bit further into her neck. Blood rushed through her as he viciously sucked it out of her. The rush to her head was unlike any drug she'd ever taken. A shiver went down her spine making her submit and surrender to his power. Darkness started to pull at her and she found her eyelids flittering closed. And then she was out.

As August drank, he'd feel like he was a newborn vampire once more. The more he had the more powerful the ability. And since he was drinking it all, he'd feel the most of what this demon girl had to offer. Her blood was the sweetest thing he'd ever sampled and it was like the purest of energy drinks. His body would feel as if ready to run a marathon. His muscles felt stronger. His senses, sharper. Wounds and scars he'd gotten over the years would heal to the point his skin would not only be flawless, but when he returned to human form he'd find that he even seemed to look a few years younger.

With his prize drained he would be then overcome by his guilt. Sitting next to her lifeless form would be the worst sight he'd seen in some time. Yet, she looked so peaceful. And as he sat there, he'd hear something. A single heartbeat. Only one. And then, a few minutes later another one would come. What was happening? Was she dead or not?

Hours would pass. The longer he waited the more the sound grew. After an hour he'd smell her blood again. It was replinishing itself. But how did that make sense? By the sixth hour her body had completely returned to normal and the color would even start to return. Her heart now pumping as it normally should. She was alive.

How long she stayed this way was up to him. Would he try waking her now? Or let her sleep more. Assuming he let her sleep, she'd wake after another four hours.

Despite feeling even better than he had the first time he ever drank blood, he didn't have the heart to move. This was one of the very few people he could describe as some sort of friend and he killed her like some wild animal. He was frozen in place with his eyes locked onto her pale, lifeless face.

After a while he heard something. Feint, weak but unmistakable. A heartbeat.

It was only one, but after a while he heard another one. With every beat relief washed over him as did confusion. No one, not werewolf, wizard or anything ever survived being drained like that. How was she still alive? It didn't matter now. She seemed to be healing up and that was relief enough for him. After a while he smelled her blood again, but fought the urge to drink from her again as he just sat patiently and stared at her. Eventually, by midday she seemed to be perfectly fine and sleeping like a rock. the sun had moved deeper into his apartment and singed him slightly. If only the stupid ring worked in this form as well. He got up and moved to the other side of the couch, still not returning back to normal.

He wanted to let her sleep, but concern overwhelmed that feeling as he leaned over the couch and cupped her entire head in his massive right hand. At least his hands were big enough, or her head small enough, to not be in danger of him hurting her with his long, sharp nails. "Emily?" he spoke softly, not sure whether to wake her or not. "Are you okay?" he spoke a little louder in his rough, harsh vampire voice. Chances of her getting quite a fright when she woke up was big, but he didn't care. For some reason he felt that it was only fair for her to see him for what he truly was as well.

Hearing her name and her head being messed with the girl would start to stir. She hummed a little while adjusting herself in her sleep. Part of her wake awake, but not quite functional yet.

"I'm tired..." she'd mumble out and then yawn.

What came next was the scariest thing Emily had ever seen. She weakily opened her eyes and saw the demon version if his vampire form staring down at her. Emily's eyes shot open and she pushed both palms into his chest to shove him away from her.

"Jesus-f*cking-christ" she shrieked while trying to both push him away while simultaneously cowering more into the couch.

August let out a hearty laugh as she shrieked and tried to shove him back to no avail. He was more relieved than anything else but decided to crack a joke anyway. "Hate to break it to you, but I doubt either of us will be seeing him any time soon." he spoke as he moved his hand to press down on the couch beside her. He looked down at her hands against his naked, pale chest then back to her.

He stood up, towering over her and probably looking like something out of a horror movie. Deciding that it was enough, the wings folded over his chest from under his arms and he shrunk down. the wings, along with the rest of his body, turned back into his clothes as he returned back to his normal self, although looking a few years younger. "Between you and me, I hate that form...although its shock factor is almost unbeatable." He walked over and knelt down next to her on the couch once again, this time the ring worked perfectly at keeping him safe from the sun. "How are you feeling." he asked more seriously as he looked at her with concerned eyes.

Hearing his voice was the only thing keeping her from tying to kill him right then and there. She looked up into his face which was like looking at those accursed ravagers again. Yeah. That was still fresh on her mind. Good thing she needed another heart attack. Those were always good for her health..........not.

He would move and sit up to then sit beside her and she scurried to get her feet out from under her so she could sit up more; her wings were also in the way and being cumbersome. He'd ask her if she was ok and she put her hand to her chest. She could feel her heart thumping loudly in her chest. Something he'd be more than aware of as well.

"Am I ok?! Jesus f*cking Christ, August! You gave me a heart attack. What's the f*cking deal? I was trying to sleep...?"

Her voice took a questioning tone while looking around. When had she gone to bed? She didn't remember ever moving to the couch. No...the last thing she remembered was she was eating. And she looked up at him as he then changed back to human form. He seemed...different. but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. And the pieces all started to come together.

Emily looked around and then noticed some red on her shoulder. Looking more to the side she pulled her shirt out so she could see it and it indeed had her blood stained on the collar. Emily gasped and looked at him. She couldn't believe it. She gasped again. Her mouth fell agape as she tried to tell herself it hadn't happened. But it had.

With another gasping she finally found the words and covered her neck with her right hand, "You bit me!" Another gasp of air and she said it once more. This time it was lore acusitive, "You bit me! I can't believe you! August, you bit me? You drank my blood, didn't you? Didn't you!"

August looked at her as she tried to piece together what had happened. He took a seat next to her on the couch as she started figuring it all out. When she started shouting at him and accusing him of drinking from her, his face sunk with guilt. He felt awful enough over it as it was, there was no need for her to bash him more as well. When she finished, a scowl formed on his face. "Yes I did, alright! And don't act like it was some big crime. To be honest, you seemed like you enjoyed it more than anything else!" he fired right back at her in his own accusative tone.

He looked out of the window in front of them and ran both hands over his face with a deep sigh, trying to clear his head and regain his composure. He sat with his hands in his face as he tried to figure out what to say. "I'm sorry, alright. I truly am, but you couldn't possibly comprehend what it felt like, having that scent right under my nose when I hug you, sit across from you, anything. I felt like a heroine junkie sitting with a needle in front of him after not having a shot in decades. I couldn't stop myself." he spoke with a voice overflowing with guilt. He lifted his face out of his hands and looked her in the eyes. "I'm sorry, Emily. Truly I am." he said once again.

Hearing him shout back at her made her jump. And it shut her up real quick. Though she didn't realize she was even shouting, she couldn't believe he was yelling at her now. She was victim here. And he was accusing her of liking it? She tried to say something in protest but it aggression silenced any nerve she had. She hated being so timid.

While he sunk his head into his hands she tried to remember what it even felt like. She recalled eating. That much was clear. Her nails gently touched the area he'd (probably) bitten. There wasn't even an indent or redness to her skin. She poked herself with two of her nails to simulate the feeling again. And it seemed to work. She felt his arm around her, restraining her. And then his teeth and odly warm breath on her neck. She recalled the amazing sensation of the blood rushing in her.

He was right. She had enjoyed it. She'd enjoyed all of it. And it made no sense to Emily. Her mother warned her that no one was ever supposed to drink her blood. Vampires especially. Dangerous things could happen. But...August had apologized right? And she was fine. More than fine. She was happy. She was relaxed. Well, save for the guilt she was feeling for yelling at him.

While her mind worked out her emotions he would lift his head up and apologize two more times. Emily picked herself up from the couch and came around to stand in front of him. She moved his arms out of the way and then did something very unlike her. Using her wings behind her as balance she saddled herself onto his lap and then pulled his head to hers and kissed him.

It was a long kiss, followed by another. And then another after that. Finally she pulled away and would whisper gently, "I forgive you. I'm sorry for yelling."

August watched as she stood in front of him and moved his hands away. Before he could ask what she was doing, she sat on his lap and gave him a passionate kiss. August froze up and sat dead still with wide eyes. If he still had a heartbeat he would have most certainly blushed, but in this case he just sat still as a statue.

When she accepted his apology, he gave a warm smile as he cupped her face in his hands. "You don't have to apologise for anything." he said softly. Somehow this just felt right to him. It certainly explained why he was constantly so worried over her. He leaned in and returned her kiss with a passionate kiss of his own. The scent of her blood filled his nostrils but he pushed it aside. This moment was too perfect to be spoiled like that, and no way in hell was he drinking from her against her will again.

It was weird in a sense to him. Physically he was only 30 or so...well maybe a few years younger now after drinking her blood like that. But in years he was a few thousand years older than her. But none of it mattered as he was lost in their kiss. In a world where vampires, warlocks and other creatures of the night were real, how strange would it be for an old, weathered vampire to fall in love with a demon? He released her face and his hands wrapped around her body and pulled her even closer to him.

He hadn't felt like this over anyone in centuries. And how he missed that wondrous feeling...

Opening her eyes she looked into his; her golden hues searching for some sign of reassurance. It was weird that he was reacting to her and not reciprocating. But that changed as he reached up and cupped her face. She closed her eyes and leaned into his left hand with her right cheek. His steady hands calmed her and made her heart pound that much harder. And then they were kissing again. Her eyes fluttered closed again as she leaned more into him while his arms pulled her closer. Her wings curled inwards and shielded them from most of the sunlight.

Her hands would begin to explore his body, feeling the tense muscles that were hard as rock. It was strange but she didn't really have anything to compare it to. She'd never been with another person before; something she hadn't yet admitted to him. If he would start to do the same, any point where his hands were on her back she'd shiver and arch herself more into him. Her back, especially around her wings, were ever so sensitive.

The sun disappeared from view as August kissed her, knowing she was using her wings to shelter them from the rest of the world. Her hands explored his body and he returned the favour, moving his right hand up her back until he felt her wings and the soft feathers covering it at the base.

A thought popped into his head that would be extremely risky for the both of them. His lips parted from hers as he moved to her neck and planted a few soft kisses on where he had bitten her a few hours ago. Deciding to up the risk even further, he extended his fangs and dragged them ever so slightly against her neck as he kissed her further. He was fighting the urge to sink them into her neck with every ounce of strength within him, but this time he managed to stay in control. He wouldn't let his bloodlust ruin this perfect moment for them now.

As he kissed and teased her neck with his fangs, his right hand's fingers ran through the soft feathers of her wings. His left hand just stayed at the small of her back, holding her close enough to him to feel the heat coming off her body, slightly warming his own cold body.

Her body trembled as his hand found the base of her wing. She audibly sighed and moaned, pulling them out of their kiss. Her head sunk and rested against his shoulder (she nearly stabbed him with her horns because this time she hadn't been careful). His hand had found a place she couldn't reach on her own due to its placement so it was like discovering something knew about her that she hadn't even known. And she loved it. Not just his hands on her in general, making her feel tiny and protected, but also giving her shivers that she couldn't seem to stop moaning against.

His risky dare would prove even more effective. His fangs teased her soft neck making her squirm. Her body arched into him while her neck tried to pull away, but she didn't move nearly at all. Emily whimpered again and gasped. His arms were holding her tightly in place and that strange feeling overcame her again as she wanted to submit to him. She didn't want to run. She wanted to be right there and let him do whatever he wished with her. What was this feeling?

Another breathy moan escaped her once more as she dared to up the anti, "Bite me...please. Just don't...don't drink if you can help it."

Judging from her reaction he was clearly doing something right. He enjoyed every cute sound that escaped her as he teased her and caressed the base of her wings. But when the request escaped her, he froze up. She was asking him to do something that would most probably end horribly for the both of them, but he came this far so no going back now.

He planted a final kiss on her neck before opening his jaws wide. As gently as he could, he sunk his fangs into her soft neck once again. Only this time he was in control and the only blood he drank was the blood that tricked from the small holes in her neck. Safe to say, he was nervous as hell, but somehow he managed to not grab hold of her and drain her once again. In fact, now that he thought about it, he wasn't even thirsty anymore. His appetite was entirely gone, as if he just had a hearty meal already.

That didn't mean he could just ignore the taste on his tongue from the small drops running into his mouth as his fangs were in her neck. As amazing as it must have been for her, it was hell for him to stay in this position. After a few minutes he pulled back, heaving deep breaths as he tried to calm himself down. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry." he said in between breaths. "I can't do that...it's too much." he said softly with nervousness in his eyes.

Even if it pained him, he was granting her wish. She closed her eyes and tilted her head the best she could into his shoulder without stabbing him and readied herself for the pain. He gave her a soft kiss first which again made her squirm slightly. Her legs squeezed him and he felt another form of something warm building. His fangs then sunk into her neck and she cried out loudly in the loudest moan she'd given to him yet. Her hands tensed and flexed against him as she melted.

Her heart was burning for him and the blood he stole tasted as ever as warm and fulfilling as ever. She moaned again with every breathy whimper. The pain in her neck making her freeze up and submit. For several minutes it was like this until he pulled back. Emily's head was spinning. He hadn't taken nearly any of her blood at all and yet she still felt high and dazed. It was amazing. Her worry in her brain was gone. She was at ease.

August would apologize and she shook her head, "That was wonderful...thank you."

She brought one hand up to her neck to cover the wound then leaned in again to kiss him and give him something else to think about.

August was relieved that she was so understanding. He actually feared that she would want him to go even further which scared him somewhat. But no, she was gentle, understanding and kind to him. She kissed him once again and his mind left his fears behind almost immediately. Deciding to take the show somewhere else, his hands moved down to her bottom and he stood up, not breaking their kiss for a second. He carried her effortlessly to his bedroom where he shut the door with his foot and they disappeared from the world.

***

Night had fallen over the city that never sleeps once again. August laid in his bed, staring at a pirate sabre and longsword that hung above his bed against the wall. The sleeping figure of Emily was next to him. Their clothes were scattered all over the room and the memories of earlier were still fresh in his mind, causing a small smile to stay on his lips. A message pinged on his phone that was on the small table next to his side of the bed. He picked it up and gave the message a quick read. Michael, another member of the church and someone August actively tried to avoid, had tracked down and 'taken care of' the problematic vampire that August was supposed to apprehend. With Michael one could never be sure of which option he would go for when hunting someone. Either way, he had to report in a.s.a.p.

As fun as it would be to tell the church to go to hell, he had no choice. He looked over to Emily next to him. She looked so peaceful as her figure slowly rose and fell with every breath. As quietly as August could, he scribbled a note saying that he had to deal with some work and left it next to the bed. He quietly got dressed and made his way to his living room. He holstered his pistol, grabbed his hoodie and car keys, and disappeared into the night, leaving Emily to sleep peacefully and undisturbed in his bed.

He hated leaving her like that but with the church he had little choice...

To say she was nervous was an understatement. Emily had just had her first kiss and now she was being carried away into the man's bedroom. It wasn't that she wasn't ready, she just...well nervous didn't quite cover it. Her neck was full of bite marks, she convinced him to try again only to not draw blood. That seemed a little easier on him. For the first part of the night he walked her through the motions, the second half she tried her hand at being on top. And then they switched back and continued on going around and around. Black feathers scattered about his bed from their carnal escapades.

Her night was perfect. Her day started off so horribly and in August's caring arms she found a peace that she needed so desperately. And they ended their night like that, wrapped up in each other with her wings coiled around him for comfort. Eventually in her sleep the wings relaxed and became more of a gentle blanket. In his arms she found another sleep which came easily due to her exhaustion from the night.

When she woke in the morning she found he was not in bed with her. For a moment she was upset but saw the note and quickly snatched it to inspect his runaway. Work. Well....she couldn't argue with that. And it's not like he ditched her and fled. She was still at his place after all. He couldn't escape her.

And then she suddenly remember something and shot up from the bed. Emily quickly got dressed with the borrowed clothes from last night and then ran to his balcony. Closing her eyes for a moment she focused her power and the light began to shine through her. Her body became invisible and she phased through the glass and took off into the night air.

It took her longer than she cared to admit but she found her way back to her apartment complex. Landing on the roof she then moved as silently as she could. With her powers, she floated over the air and kept her wings curled behind her. She didn't need her wings to fly technically due to her powers, but it was nowhere near as amazing as feeling the air under her wings.

Under the illusion of invisibility she made her way through the floors until she was in her own place. She knew right away there were demons sniffing around nearby but they wouldn't expect her to be there and not be seen. Even still, maybe she should have brought August. She just couldn't wait any longer.

"Bassy?" she whispered into the dark. "Bassy? Are you here, boy? Bassy?"

Emily didn't know when August would come back, but by the time he returned Emily would be sitting on his couch as she had before. Her pants she'd borrowed had come off by his kitchen, showing her bare legs off in the night lights. But more surprising was the pure black ball python strung around her and flicking his tongue in the air. Bright neon green eyes searched the room as it roamed over her body to see his new surroundings. It was a good six or so feet in length and almost as wide as her forearm.

"Your back!" Emily said excitedly as August finally returned. "August, come meet Bastillian. Bassy, this is August." She spoke a few words in her Druid language and the snake would turn it's head to face the vampire, flick it's tongue, and then look away uninterested.

August drove through the night to the church where he was called to. The hallowed grounds immediately put him on edge and made him uncomfortable, as always. He walked through the massive doors and disappeared into the building as the doors closed behind him.

Several hours passed and it was late morning once again when he finally emerged from the church. He was enraged, his lifeless face actually a very slight shade of red as he stormed out of the building in jumped into his car. He was afraid that they would give him that order, but at least he managed to scale down Emily's sentence to just a verbal warning coupled with a beatdown from Michael. August's fists were still burnt from him getting the man's holy blood on his hands in the fight. At least it was healed up and only looked like carpet burns over his hands instead of third degree burns. He hated that Archangel, as weird as it sounded.

With his day already messed up he went about sorting everything else out. He stopped by a cell phone company to get a new phone and his totalled Demon was written off as well. He even managed to get a full pay out from the insurance company which calmed him a bit. It was night once again when he got back to his apartment with a bag of clothes that would fit Emily better as well as a phone for her and some groceries in case she got hungry again. He was still pretty angry at the church and didn't immediately notice Emily and her new scaly friend. He did notice the shorts on the floor pretty quickly, though. He placed his stuff down on the kitchen's counter and picked up the shorts as he walked over to her by the couch and placed it next to her.

He leaned over and planted a soft kiss on her head, but recoiled a bit when he saw the massive snake staring right at him. "That's a snake...where did it come from exactly?" he spoke in a rather shocked manner. He quickly regained his composure with the shake of a head and pointed to the stuff behind him. "Sorry I was out like that all day, I had to sort some stuff out. I got you a few things while I was out, figured you could do with them." he spoke casually, careful to leave the part about her and the church out as well as masking his frustration. The fewer people knew about his relationship with them, the better.

Emily gave a happy hum when he kissed her head and then jumped a little herself as he recoiled. His shocked tone made her defensively move her hand more towards Bastillian's head in case he got nervous but the snake was paying no mind to the being who produced no heat; as far as Bassy was concerned it was nothing more than a moving statue.

"Yessss," she said with a slight laugh. "Bassy is a snake. Good job." She giggled and let the snake go back to what it was doing and it just slithered its head away from her arm to try and explore the couch more.

August would apologize for his absence and explain he'd gotten her a few things. She smiled and tried to take a peak but she couldn't see them from here without opening the bags up. She'd put her hand under Bastillian's body and support his weight as she stood and moved him back up to her shoulder so she could walk around with him and she'd start opening the bags to see what he'd gotten.

"August! You didn't have to get me anything. I have my clothes in the other room." She looked up and moved closer to him (holding the snake out of sight) and gave him a one-armed hug. "Yeah I went back to my place to get Bassy. I managed to save a few outfits that weren't destroyed. But thank you, seriously."

She let go of August and then would start to move to the kitchen. She adjusted Bastillian in her arms once again because he seemed hell bent on getting away from her but she didn't want to let him run around unsupervised -obviously. "I don't know what we're going to do with him," she'd say talking about their new scaly roommate. "His tank was destroyed when those demons tried to eat him for a snack. And it's not like we can just go and buy him new things at this hour. I guess I could have done that while you were out...but I wouldn't have any way to carry them here. Do you...have a place I can keep him for the night?"

August was slightly unnerved by the snake's pitch black scales and bright green eyes. He didn't know that much about snakes but he knew that they weren't supposed to look like that. He brushed it aside as Emily gave him a hug. He returned the hug with one of his own and planted another kiss on her head as soon as he got past her horns. He made sure that she couldn't see his hands and when he pulled away from the hug, he shoved his hands into his hoodie's pockets. He eyed the snake suspiciously as it seemed to pay no attention to him at all...thank goodness he was a cold, heartless wretch of a being. Something told him that there was more to this snake than meets the eye.

"Oh well, now you've got extra. he said casually as he walked around the counter and packed the groceries away. He placed the box with her phone on top of the counter as he threw the bags into a drawer. She spoke about the snake not having a place to sleep. While he wouldn't mind the demons getting a hold of it, clearly Emily cared deeply for the scaly creature...and in their current 'position' that meant he had to get used to it being around the apartment.

That still didn't mean that he would just warm up to the creature immediately so to speak. He thought for a while over where they would find a tank or something for the creature. Suddenly an idea popped into his head. "I think I have a solution...follow me." he perked up with a smile as he led the way out of his penthouse and went down a few levels. He came to a stop in front of a door with a big dragon poster on the front of it. The scent of weed and barbequed meat was almost overwhelming so close to the door, as was the Led Zeppelin music...

He gave a few knocks and Led Zeppelin on the other side turned down. A few moments later the door opened up and a rather strange looking guy was standing in front of them. His eyes were bloodshot and he looked like he was on cloud nine. "Hey, dude. Wazzup…" he spoke in a high pitched tone, but trailed off halfway. "Austin, how much have you been smoking?" August asked the man who looked like he was about to just fall over. "Not that much." he said with a sheepish grin as his eyes closed halfway.

He seemed to sober up almost immediately when he saw Emily and her snake. "Oh dude! That python looks sick!" he almost shouted as he took a step closer to examine the pitch black snake.

While Austin might not look like much, he was one of the most powerful creatures in the building. Hailing from somewhere in South America, he was actually a fire drake who just so happened to be the local stoner and reptile enthusiast in the building. A huge relief considering he could burn down the entire building within half an hour. "Oh, I'm sorry! Austin Ramirez." he spoke enthusiastically as he held a hand out for her to shake.

Emily was grateful for the hug and the attention, the added kiss made it all that more satisfying. It made her relax some about the way he'd left her that morning...night...whatever. He still cared about her and that was all she needed to know. She wouldn't notice him hiding his hands but she would have offered to heal him if he'd brought it to her attention. She'd then give him a warm smile and thank him for the clothes regardless.

As she mentioned the problem with Bastillian he would perk up with a sudden sollution. She was about to follow him right out the door when she remembered she didn't have any clothes. She blushed and backed up, looking around for something. "Uhhhh......" Emily would then move to the sink and deposit the reptile into the metal bin. he could escape it with ease but she figured he'd be easy to find again on all the counter tops given his size. So long as he didn't head straight for the gap between that and the fridge. Which luckily he did not.

Heading swiftly into his bedroom she threw off the shirt she'd been wearing and would get dressed in some of her clothes. She came out wearing a black pair of shorts (pink undies if he cared to snoop) that barely fell past her buttocks. Over her torso she wore a long white tank top that had some logo on it. Under the tank was a fancy bright, blue and purple, water-colored sports bra. Her wings were curled behind her and her hair was messed up slightly from changing outfits but her horns were as noticeable as ever. She gave him a smile and then repeated the glamour spell in Latin and a shimmer of light fell over her. Her wings and horns would seemingly vanish making him not be able to focus on where they were. But he could still pick them out if he tried hard enough; a normal human wouldn't see a thing. Even her eyes though this time had changed color and were now white as they should be but retained the same golden hue making her look like an angel rather than a demon.

"All ready. Let's go!"

Fetching her snake she would coil him around her arm and follow August from the apartment. They moved down a few flights of stairs and came to a room that reeked of weed. A shaggy looking fellow opened the door and the stench hit Emily hard. August would probably prefer that to the awful stench of sulfur though. Emily looked the man once over and something about him was strange. He wasn't human, but she didn't know why or what he was. He'd then notice the snake and his excitement made Emily smile by result.

"Thank you. His name is Bastillian."

Bassy would flick his tongue as he smelled the burning plant in the air. It was sometimes hard to tell when a snake was agitated (when not in striking position that is), but Emily could feel the poor thing tightening around her arm while it turned its head and retreated back to her. She was 99% sure he did not want to be here.

The fire drake would introduce himself as Austin and Emily extended her other arm to shake his hand, "Emily." She didn't give him her last name for reasons August was probably aware, or could guess. She then turned to August and would say, "So I take it Austin here has a tank for us? Because I hope you're not implying I should leave Bassy here..."

Austin looked the small girl over. She was definitely not human by any stretch of the imagination, but that didn't matter. At least he wasn't doing the tongue thing like he normally would. He kept staring at Emily awkwardly before receiving a menacing glare from August, quickly causing him to clear his throat and look back to him. "Oh you guys need a tank? Sure I got one somewhere, gimme a few minutes." he spoke with wide eyes and disappeared, closing his door halfway, only giving a small peek into his messy yet homey apartment and also allowing the cloud to escape from inside. The smell was overbearing, causing August to take a step back and wave his hand in front of him to clear the smoke somewhat.

"Thank goodness you smell a lot better than him, as far as Fire Drakes go he reeks like something else. But I will admit, he's a pretty good guy as long as you can get past the smell and...eccentric personality." August muttered to Emily next to him.

After a few minutes he returned with a spotless tank on a trolley, big enough for the python to fit inside. There was already a small cup filled with water was well as an ice cream tub full of mice. On top of the tank's lid was a heating light that only needed to be hooked up to a socket and then they would be good to go. "There you go, full starter pack. You need anything else, feel free to drop in." he said casually as he disappeared into his 'cave' once again and turned the music back up. August looked back to Emily with a chuckle as he pushed the trolley to the nearby lift. "yeah, he's one of the many supernatural patrons living in this building. As long as he pays up and doesn't cause trouble, he's free to do what he wants just like the rest of them." August gave a quick rundown of the place.

They stopped in the lift and August took the time to look his hands over. Thankfully they were almost healed up. He quietly gave a sigh of relief. As long as he didn't have to explain to Emily what happened, it was all good.
