Emily grinned and gave a slight hum in joy as Austin offered to get them the tank. "Hear that, Bassy? We're gonna get you a new home."
The snake naturally didn't respond but it continued to curl up closer to her and wind its way up her arm, to her shoulders, and by the end of their journey back home he'd be hanging slightly off her horns. Emily waited patiently as she turned back to August. He mentioned that she smelled far better than this weed-soaked apartment which made Emily blush and look down at her feet. No one had ever said she smelled good. In so many words he hadn't, but it meant the world to her that she was at least being compared to something in a decent light.
She didn't respond to the comment because she was blushing far too hard and with her head ducked down it gave Bastillian easier access to her hair which he began to disappear into. The door would open a few minutes later with a prize of everything Emily could have asked for. Sorta. The tub of mice were not at all to scale for what she fed her black python but it was a nice gesture for him to at least consider food. She imagined she could set the tub full of them into his tank and they'd all be dead within an hour. He'd probably still be hungry for more too. Her curious mind kinda wanted to see it happen too.
"Thank you so much!" Emily waved to Austin as they started to depart. When they got to the lift she would give August another quick one-armed hug. "And thank you for being ok with this. It's only temporary. I assure you."
She hadn't told him her plan yet. But she knew she couldn't stay here with him. So long as Dimitri was out there...she would not be safe in New York. Emily had already begun forming a plan and when she had to break the news to the vampire he'd probably hate her for it. But what other choice did she have...?
Back in the room she quietly stood behind August while he hooked the cage up and the light source. She would uncoil the slithery rope from her horns and set him into the cage with some difficulty. She then picked up the mice and began dropping one after another into the cage. Unlike her sadistic desire to see him go crazy, she waited until he'd swallowed the first before giving him another. It was rather frightening to watch if someone had never seen a snake eat, but Emily couldn't get enough of it. SHe loved the way his body stretched to devour the catch and it vanish down his throat leaving no trace it was ever there.
