Emily grinned and gave a slight hum in joy as Austin offered to get them the tank. "Hear that, Bassy? We're gonna get you a new home."

The snake naturally didn't respond but it continued to curl up closer to her and wind its way up her arm, to her shoulders, and by the end of their journey back home he'd be hanging slightly off her horns. Emily waited patiently as she turned back to August. He mentioned that she smelled far better than this weed-soaked apartment which made Emily blush and look down at her feet. No one had ever said she smelled good. In so many words he hadn't, but it meant the world to her that she was at least being compared to something in a decent light.

She didn't respond to the comment because she was blushing far too hard and with her head ducked down it gave Bastillian easier access to her hair which he began to disappear into. The door would open a few minutes later with a prize of everything Emily could have asked for. Sorta. The tub of mice were not at all to scale for what she fed her black python but it was a nice gesture for him to at least consider food. She imagined she could set the tub full of them into his tank and they'd all be dead within an hour. He'd probably still be hungry for more too. Her curious mind kinda wanted to see it happen too.

"Thank you so much!" Emily waved to Austin as they started to depart. When they got to the lift she would give August another quick one-armed hug. "And thank you for being ok with this. It's only temporary. I assure you."

She hadn't told him her plan yet. But she knew she couldn't stay here with him. So long as Dimitri was out there...she would not be safe in New York. Emily had already begun forming a plan and when she had to break the news to the vampire he'd probably hate her for it. But what other choice did she have...?

Back in the room she quietly stood behind August while he hooked the cage up and the light source. She would uncoil the slithery rope from her horns and set him into the cage with some difficulty. She then picked up the mice and began dropping one after another into the cage. Unlike her sadistic desire to see him go crazy, she waited until he'd swallowed the first before giving him another. It was rather frightening to watch if someone had never seen a snake eat, but Emily couldn't get enough of it. SHe loved the way his body stretched to devour the catch and it vanish down his throat leaving no trace it was ever there.

They got back to his apartment and he hooked the tank up to a socket in the living room. No way was that thing going in the bedroom...

As he was working he took a quick look at Emily. "He can stay...as long as I don't find him in my bedroom whenever I need to do something. Bathroom's off limits as well." he spoke, more directed to the snake than to her. Getting used to the reptile was definitely going to take a while. With that done h stood back and watched as Emily fed the snake. It didn't even look like the mice were doing anything to fill the animal up. But curiosity got the better of him and not even a minute later he was resting his head on her shoulder and his arms around her as he watched.

"In a twisted way it's actually quite fun watching." he said with a furrowed brow. It was like watching a train wreck. He wanted to look away but kept looking anyway. One after the other the mice disappeared down the snake's throat, puzzling the vampire more and more. "How much does this thing eat exactly?"

"When I'm done I'll put a sealing spell over the tank so he can't escape. Don't worry. I don't want him wandering off either."

As her vampire boyfriend came to stand behind her she felt his head on her shoulder and his arms coil around her front. She sighed happily and leaned into him a little. Her wings would have to have been parted for him to get close but she had no inclination to try and stop him from getting as close as he wished.

"Not mice, I'll tell you that," she'd say as she dropped another one into the tank. Bastillian was like a bullet and gripped the poor mouse's torso with his full jaw. The rest of him tried to squeeze around the thing but there simply wasn't much to grab and it died from the bite a minute later as it screeched and tried to escape. "I feed him a live rabbit every twenty days. So this will do nothing for him."

August watched as Emily fed mouse after mouse to the snake. He pulled his head back and looked at her somewhat in disbelief as she mentioned feeding it a live rabbit. "An entire rabbit? What the hell kind of snake is this?" he said with a chuckle as he rested his head on her shoulder once again. He reached around and picked a mouse up by its tail and dropped it in the tank as the python just finished with another mouse.

After a few more minutes he kissed her on the cheek and released her. "I'll be in the shower if you need me." he spoke over his shoulder as he made for his bedroom. He placed his gun, new phone and hoodie all on the bed before taking off his shoes and moving to the bathroom, closing the door and starting the shower. He quickly undressed and climbed into the shower, releasing a sigh of relief as the warm water washed over him. The smell of sulphur was quite prominent in the shower, causing a chuckle to escape from him. The odour would usually cause him to be put off, but he had grown so used to it by now that it either didn't phase him at all or he didn't even notice it anymore. Besides it wasn't like she could do anything about it and he wouldn't expect her to.

As long as she just kept it hidden outside of the apartment then everything would be fine. The last thing he needed now was another phone call from the church.

Emily chuckled when he was surprised at how much Bastillian could eat. She nodded her head with a giggle and said, "I'm sure you'll get a chance to see. I'll give him a few days, maybe a week, to digest all this then we'll give him what he normally has."

She was surprised then when he picked up the next 'volunteer' and sacrificed it to the reptilian god. As she did, he would be careful not to have his fingers anywhere near the rat once it crossed the threshold. It hadn't happened since he became bigger, but when he was first learning to trust her he'd gotten pretty close a time or two. Not that she wouldn't heal, but she didn't really want to get bit if she didn't have to.

He'd kiss her again and let her go with the notion of taking a shower. She turned her head with a pout and watching him leave. By the time she finished with all of these rats he'd be done and dry. She looked at it, then decided to dump the remaining four into the tank. Bastillian had a field day. He didn't bother eating them one by one, but once he was sure he killed it first prey he let it go and carefully made his approach on the next. He'd eat when he finished hunting. Sadistic little prick.

Setting the empty container away she would then close his lid and set the heat up to the right temperature (making a mental note to change it before bed time) then did a simple locking spell to keep it from opening. It was the kind of magic August could probably do if he knew the words. Could vampires use magic...? She'd have to ask him.

Emily would mischievously follow him to the bathroom with a giddy little smirk on her face. She phased out of her clothes and they fell to the floor in a neat pile. She'd do the same with the door since she wanted to sneak up on him. Though, she couldn't take into account the smell of her wings which remained rather dirty still. He'd smell her the moment she became solid again. Some of it would be the sulfur, but the rest was his shampoo she'd washed off with since she hadn't had any of her own the night before. She always did prefer the smell of flowery things, cherry blossoms were her favorite. Her mother preferred coconut. Not that it mattered.

Tip-toeing to the shower she opened the curtain with as much grace as she could and stepped in with him. Her arms wrapped around his manly torso and she nuzzled the top of her head against his back. "You said if I needed you..." she expected him to get the message.

The smell of sulphur and shampoo increasing drastically caused a warm smile to creep up onto August's face. He didn't move a muscle as she climbed into the shower and wrapped her arms around him. He slowly turned in her arms until he was facing her fully and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. "That's not exactly what I had in mind when I said that but I'm not complaining." he said with a mischievous smile and gave another kiss both on her forehead and her lips.

He looked at her wings behind her and an idea crept into his head. "Emily, what on earth were you doing today? Your wings are a mess." he spoke in a concerned voice, turning her so her back was facing him. He threw some shampoo into his hands and started massaging her wings. After a few minutes, without warning, his right hand grabbed hold of the base of her wings, massaging it ever so gently on that sensitive spot while his left hand moved around her perfect stomach and found its way downward. To top it off he leaned in with his head, placing a kiss on her neck.

This might prove to be quite the eventful shower indeed...

Of course she couldn't sneak up on the Vampire . She did try though. He'd turn in her arms and lean down to kiss her; she'd meet him halfway and stand on the tips of her toes. He smiled happily as he told her he was glad she'd come to see him after all. It felt nice to be wanted. And then he kissed her twice more making her swoon and melt into his frame.

His attention was then brought to her wings and he'd ask her what she'd been doing all day. She laughed and peeked over at her shoulder at them; they were filthy. "I told you. I went home to get my things. Had to...you know, fight a few demons who were squatting."

August would then turn her around and she looked back over her shoulder to see what he was doing. When he started lathering the soap she faced back to her front and closed her eyes. It was relaxing to have someone playing with her wings. Normally she couldn't reach them on her own. So parts of them had a habit of staying dirty for a long time. It would have been worse if she didn't use her spell to hide them. It reminded her of when her parents would give her baths when she was super young and naive to the world. That was before she knew how cruel people were to demons. Even the ones minding their own business.

His hand would find it's way to the base and she reflexively shivered at his touch . She had no impulse control when that spot was touched. She let out a gasping sigh subconsciously letting him know she enjoyed it there. Then, at the same time, his other hand would creep around to her front. She thought he was simply going to hold her like he had been a minute ago when his hand kept trailing down.

The sound that came out of her next was a clear resounding response to the night they'd had yesterday. Her body arched into him and she let out a longing moan. Her hands reached to the wall to support her while her head hung low and her hair fell down over her face. This was a surprise to be sure, but she recalled how amazing he'd made her felt the other night. Now she was the one who was not complaining.

The sounds escaping her were like music to his ears. She was definitely enjoying it. He kept teasing her in a two-pronged attack while he kissed her neck and shoulder. Once again he extended his fangs and softly bit her neck, hard enough to satisfy her wishes but still soft enough to not draw blood just like the previous night. At least with the smell of shampoo and sulphur packed so tightly around them, he could tolerate the scent of her blood a little better than in other circumstances. Though he still had that yearning to drink her blood, which he had never felt before. What the hell was in her blood? Not only did the old scars that covered his body disappear and what parts he could see of himself also looked less weathered. But he kept yearning for it like...

Like an addict.

Suddenly the realisation dawned on him. He was addicted to her blood like a common junkie. How was that possible? As he was milling over the troubling thoughts he subconsciously stopped pleasing Emily. His right hand rested against her back while his left dropped to her thigh...and his fangs were sinking deeper and deeper into her neck as he started drinking from her which she would most certainly be feeling. Though from the previous night's reaction she wouldn't mind the feeling, but the idea might be troubling.

His thoughts came back to him as he pulled back and with his speed he rushed out of the shower and stood in front of the sink. He was breathing heavily as his hands rested on the sink and he looked down into it, trying to get his act together. He looked into the mirror, but only stared into the tile wall behind him. Another cruel reminder of his reality, not being able to cast a reflection. "Emily..." he spoke weakly but didn't exactly know what he wanted to say further and her name just hung in the air.

He felt like a worthless wreck. He loved this girl, something he couldn't say about anyone else in centuries if not a millennia by now. But with her blood pulling at him constantly without a way to stop himself, showing that love without hurting her was proving to be challenge. "Just stay there. I don't want to hurt you." he finally managed to say, albeit a bit weak. He opened the tap and washed the blood in his mouth out, trying to get rid of the intoxicating taste. He looked back to her through the open gap and held a hand out to stop her. "I don't want to hurt you..."

Everyday it seemed like she was finally living her life. Being with August was giving her a chance to start pulling herself out of the rut she'd been in for years. In an ironic way, she needed someone dead to finally be alive. Her body was yearning for him in her own addictive way. He made her feel things she couldn't ever have the chance to feel on her own. She surrendered everything to him and let his hands and lips to as they pleased; she was just there to enjoy the ride.

With his lips on her neck it was only a matter of time before his teeth found their way out. She moaned louder and gasped. He must have taken that as a clue that she wished for more and his teeth sank further and further in. Her body again would just stop working as he had complete control over her. His hand would stop touching her down there, but she didn't even seem to notice. The feeling of the blood rushing in her and the endorphins from the pain was enough to give her that high she desired. They were both addicts in their own way.

And then she practically fell over as he dashed out of the bathroom. She'd been using his body for support and almost was unable to catch herself from falling. Her breathing was deep and heavy from the pleasure and she had to calm herself down to speak. She was worried about him, as if she'd done something wrong.

" August...what's wrong?" she would ask in a breathy whisper.

He held his hand out to her to warn her from getting any closer. He explained he was afraid of hurting her. Emily gasped. "August..."

She would start approaching him anyway; the water from her body and especially her wings dripping onto the tile. He warned her again with so much fear in his voice it broke her heart. But she didn't run. She didn't listen either. She wanted to help him. She didn't like that he was so distraught.

"You can't hurt me..." she'd remind him. "I'm immortal remember? I promise...it's fine. I want this."

August's eyes were wide as she approached. He pressed his hand over her heart, the feeling of it beating underneath his palm helping him calm down a bit. He was shocked that she was fine with him sucking her dry like a Capri Sun. "There's no such thing as immortality..." he muttered softly as his eyes were resting on her heart, his personal philosophy slipping through slightly.

He looked her in the eyes. "Are you sure?" He lowered his hand and slowly moved towards her. His hands rested on her shoulders, then moved up to cup her cheeks as he leaned in for a passionate kiss. He picked Emily up and made his way into the shower once again. He held her close to him as he gave her a final kiss on the lips before leaning in and sinking his fangs into her neck. His eyes turned blood red as he pulled her tighter into his cold embrace, careful not to crush her wings or hurt her. As much as he wanted more, he didn't want to drain her like that again.

When her knees eventually buckled from a combination of blood loss and ecstasy he would catch her, release her neck and hold her tight against him as he kissed her further. "I love you." the words escaped him in a breathy voice as he pulled back for a second and slowly thrusted his hips forward...

Her chest would slowly rise and fall with every breath. His hand firm and yet as soft as her skin. He argued that there was no such thing as immortality to which she chuckled a little. "My mother told me she's been killed over a thousand times. She always comes back." Granted, that wasn't any guarantee that she had that same ability.

He'd move closer and look into her black eyes asking if she was sure about what she was asking. Her head gave a soft nod and she affirmed it with a breathy, "Yes."

His hands would cup her cheek making her swoon all over again and then lean into his approaching kiss. He'd lift her up by her legs and she hooked her ankles around his torso for support while her hands gently dangled behind his back over his shoulders. It was a weird feeling branching onto him like this because she was trusting him not to drop her. Even weirder yet because she could fly with or without her wings yet she even let him have that power over her. It just felt so natural to let him take over and submit to this loving embrace.

Her back pressed into the tile wall of the shower as the hot water rained down over them. His lips would return to her neck and bite into her soft flesh once more. She let out a moaning scream and gripped his torso tighter with her arms and thighs. Her hands would reach up and start playing with the back of his head where his hairline ended though she started to get weaker from the bloodloss.

When her hands finally drooped down he knew she'd had enough and he'd force himself to stop. She was still awake but only barely as he kissed her more and more. She sleepily would moan and sigh to his touch and give his neck a gentle kiss too. When he said he loved her she'd hum in a pleased tone and then next thing she knew darkness overtook her. Her heart was still going strong and her wound would close up after another minute.

Emily was once again lying on his bed. He had taken the time to clean her up, wings and all, and slipped her into some pyjamas before tucking her in. He had also pulled on a simple pair of shorts as he sat on his bed, watching her as she slept blissfully and peacefully. To think that she was willing to go that far, letting him drink from her willingly, was astonishing. He wasn't sure what he did in his dark past to deserve her, but he wasn't complaining. He was just glad that he had her.

He wished that he could just lie next to her and drift off to sleep along with her, but sleep was out of the question for him. He lightly brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and stood up, making his way to the living room with his phone. He took a seat on the couch and went through some messages. He looked up from the screen and to the snake's tank and gave it a smile before going over his phone once again.

By sunrise he was sitting on his balcony once again and playing with his ring. He started pulling the ring off his finger, but stopped before he got far enough to burn again. Somehow he didn't want to do it. He had long since forgotten why he always did it, bit for the first time in a very long time he didn't have the desire to punish himself like that. He slipped the ring back in its place with a light hearted laugh and moved to the kitchen.

By the time Emily would be waking up, she would smell the fresh aroma of coffee and breakfast in the air.

Her sleep was wonderful. Even after a day of exhausting activities couldn't wear her out like she had tonight. Her body felt more drained because it literally was and with that all it wanted to do was relax and heal itself from the blood it was missing. The blood that would make August have all the energy in the world. It wouldn't have the same aging effect though because it took a lot of her blood to pull that off.

Lying in his bed she hadnt woke up once. No nightmares. No anxiety. Just bliss. And she'd look ever more like an angel with those wings gently spread out across the bed. When she would finally start to wake up it took her several tries to actually open her eyes. She was just so darn comfy she didn't want to get out from under the covers.

Eventually the smell of coffee roused her and she'd leave the warm temple of his blankets and find herself a top and some underwear before venturing out into the dining area. She'd approach him with a smile on her face and hug him like she had in the shower (arms reaching around his hips and clinging to his torso).

"Good morning."

August flashed a smile and wrapped his arms around her, careful not to impale himself on her horns. He planted a kiss on her head as he smiled down at her. "Good morning indeed. Breakfast is served." he spoke softly and warmly. He was feeling amazing, not only because of her blood but also because he felt that their relationship had only strengthened after last night.

He released her and took a seat right across from her behind the counter just like last time, only this time he didn't have a glass of blood in front of him. "Work's quiet right now and my schedule is clean. If you need to fetch some stuff from your apartment again or do something else, I'll be happy to oblige." he spoke casually as he watched her. She looked rejuvenated, well rested. Clearly she was in bliss. "You look like you had a good night's rest. Did you remember to drink your sleeping pills this time around?" he asked with a sly grin.

"Mmm. Thank you." she smiled and headed to the table and pulled her plate closer when he set it down for her. "I probably should have mentioned, but I like my eggs over medium." Emily broke open the egg and dipped her bacon into it again. While chewing she'd add, "Just...you know, for future reference."

While she ate he'd talk about his work which she was thankful he didn't go into detail. She didn't want to think about him hunting her own kind, or other downworlders for that matter. He'd then offer to take her back to her place, or anything else for that matter. She seemed to lose some of her glow when he talked about that but she didn't respond.

Instead, August would continue and tease her that she was taking meds. Emily looked up and would playfully go along with it. " Actually, I've been trying this all supernatural remedy. Really cleans out the system ya know?"

She chuckled for a minute before looking back down at her food. Then, knowing she had to say her peace, she'd drop a bomb shell on him. " Actually though. There's like... something I have to tell you ." She took a moment to sigh and then blurted it out. "August I can't stay here."

In the silence that followed she would go to explain herself, staring intently at her eggs so as to not get lost in his eyes. "As long as Dimitri is alive he's going to keep coming after me. He's probably got every demon out there with my name on their plate. I wouldn't doubt he's even got a bounty out for me. I can't...I can't stay here and be a danger to you."

He smiled as she mentioned how she liked her eggs. "Of course. I just went with the standard option, but now I know." he spoke casually. When she ran with the joke even further, he gave a chuckle. "Brilliant pun, I'll give you that." he said through his laugh.

When her tone changed he fell quiet as he listened to what she had to say. When the words blurted out, he lost his smile as he started worrying. "What do you mean here? In the apartment? With...me?" he spoke softly. Even though he knew it was physically impossible, he swore he could feel his heart pounding in his chest as the stress set in. What did she mean by that? Had he done something wrong? Did she finally come to her senses and gotten tired of him acting like a lustful junkie around her every time he caught her scent?

He sat still as his brow furrowed. When she finally elaborated, relief washed over him. As she mentioned being a danger to him, he let out a single 'heh'. Then it built into a chuckle, then a snicker until finally his head was flat on the counter as he couldn't breathe from the laughter. He knew it was extremely rude to be laughing over something as serious as this but he couldn't stop himself. The immense weight just lifted from his heart. When he finally regained his composure he took both her hands in his and looked into her beautiful golden eyes. "Why didn't you just ask?" he said with a relieved smile on his face.

"Emily, I have a house in almost every country in the world. I have a chateau in France, hunting lodge in Uganda, a creepy castle in Romania, house in Tokyo. Hell, I even still have my original house on the Italian countryside that's still going strong even after all these years. You want to disappear? You just pick the place and we can just fall off the grid." he spoke with enthusiasm and confidence as he held her hands and gave them a gentle squeeze. "And if you're afraid of endangering me, don't be. I don't think I ever told you who it is I work for but if you knew, you'd feel safe as houses." he spoke more gently as he looked her in the eyes. That last part was not entirely true, but if he made the right arrangements and asked nicely enough, he knew that he could convince the church to give her a pass.

"Only problem is if we want to catch an off-the-grid flight you might not enjoy it all that much." he finally finished

She was glad he appreciated her pun. It was spur of the moment and apparently funnier than she thought. She'd never really made anyone else laugh. But their conversation took a different turn, and then another one right after that. Just like that he was suddenly laughing at her. Emily set down her fork and stared at him with a slightly upset look. She felt like he was teasing her which was something she was very used to; not that it made it any easier. Emily had no idea what she'd said that was this funny but she didn't appreciate him taking it like a joke.

After finally regaining his composure he explained the humor to the situation. She was so worried about running away she hadn't considered the immortal aspect to this vampire. Of course he had other homes. She would if she could. Actually...no. No she wouldn't. Emily hated traveling. She enjoyed her life as quiet and secure and predictable. Her mother was the one who preferred to do the travelling. She'd even told her of a time where she was the captain of her own ship. The "Blood Wolf Pirates" they'd called themselves. Apparently she'd gotten the idea sometime after meeting Emily's grandmother. Her um...biological one. Her family history was so confusing and overly complicated.

Hearing that August had homes all over the world one location in particular stuck out to her: Tokyo. She knew that same grandmother lived in Japan because that's where she was born. Her mother visited time from time but she never had any permanent residence. Her sister she knew lived in Russia but it was just too cold there for the black haired demon. Her sister who was literally born from a dragon found it to be the best place to live because she didn't feel things like cold and hot.

"Are you...sure?" she'd ask looking into his eyes to see if he was serious or not. Her hands felt welcomed in his but she needed to know how serious he was about moving with her. Especially so spur of the moment. This was a huge step for them both. "You have a life here, August. I can't just ask you to follow me."

He gave a warm smile as he leaned forward. It was touching for him that she was so worried about him just dropping everything and going abroad. "Of course I'm sure. Emily, I'm over two thousand years old. The definition of time means a lot less to me than it does to you. Living in one place for a decade then moving on to the next?" he simply shrugged his shoulders, showing her just how little time actually meant to him.

"The only difference this time is that I won't be going alone." he said and gave her a kiss on the lips. "I just need to make a few phone calls, sort stuff out and make arrangements then you and I can be on a jet by this afternoon. All you have to do is choose where we're going and what to pack." he muttered to her, his smile not fading once.

Emily smiled when he said it was no issue at all and would start blushing lightly. It might have been a simple thing for him, but to her it meant the world. She only hoped he wouldn't regret the choice. She wasn't even thinking about that right then because she was too busy beaming at his desire to stay with her. He had said he loved her after all. Something she was not really sure how she felt about it. Aside from the obvious fact it felt good to be loved. Was it...too early though to be having those feelings? Normally girls heard men saying things like that after the 'first date' were usually crazy and the dating protocol on that said RUN AWAY! Run away as fast as she could.

To Hell with that. August would continue explaining he'd have to take care of a few things and then they could be on their way. She continued blushing as she stuffed some more food in her mouth hoping he wouldn't see the reddening of her cheeks. But he'd lift her chin to kiss her and that did nothing to make her hide her blush from him; in fact, it made it worse. She swallowed her food and would whimper a little to herself that she was even feeling this way. He had such a hold over her emotions and her heart is was uncanny!

Trying to talk so she could get out of her head she would swallow again and then start softly at first, before getting back up to a normal speaking volume, "Most of my stuff is still packed. And I mean I don't have that much to take anyway. Oh! We have to get a new cage for Bassy. Think you can have one arranged by the time we get there? Oh, and how are we...getting him there? I don't think they allow snakes on a plane. I'm pretty sure there was a movie about that like ten years ago."

Watching her blush was just adorable, plain and simple. Having those cheeks of her redden up like that just caused his smile to grow bigger. While their relationship was still in its infancy, he had a feeling that they would be enjoying each other's company for a good long while and he had no desire to see it end any time soon. Falling in love wasn't something that came easy for him. He could probably count the amount of serious relationships over the years on one hand and he could proudly say that none of them ended on bad terms...well except for his first one but that's a story he hated reliving...

He looked over to the cage and the snake inside of it. "Getting something set up shouldn't be a problem. As for a temporary cage...well I'm sure we can just drop him in a box, duct tape it closed and punch a few holes in there." he spoke with a mischievous grin, bracing for a slap or punch. "In all seriousness, we can just pick something up at a pet shop for him. Bringing him onto the plane won't be a problem if we use a private jet. I just need to get everything organised. So, where to?" he said happily as he unlocked his phone and opened his contacts list, waiting for their destination.
