As the invading forces advanced on the square Gabriel rose his hands up in a boxer's guard, moving forward with the rest of the defenders with him. Two broke off from the parade of multicoloured, metal-clad Mandalorians advancing on the square. Both fired on the padawan during their approach and, at the same time, Gabriel advanced.
Gabriel's arms moved inward to block his body in a peek-a-boo guard with both gauntlet-covered forearms nearly vertical over his torso, top of the forearms facing forward and fists just below his chin, head slightly lowered. The first yellow bolt deflected off his left gauntlet into the ground while the two stun shots dissipated against his right gauntlet. Gabriel moved left and forward, taking a diagonal approach toward the closer bronze-plated Mandalorian, keeping both in his line of sight. They were clearly coming in to land and Gabriel intended to move in close. He bent his body slightly to keep his body covered as his targets landed.
His gauntlets might not have the reach of a lightsaber, but they were wider and easier to defend with. When the second yellow bolt came from the bronze Mando, he and Gabriel were advancing on one another at the same time at a similar pace. Gabriel lowered and turned his left arm's half of the guard to intercept Bronze's second shot and bounce it back at Bronze's chest from 15 meters, continually moving forward with quick-but-short steps to keep his balance and tempo, light-footed and mobile.
Gabriel's opponents were heavily armored and bogged down by an armoury's worth of tech. Stuff on their arms, jetpacks, guns, ammo, who knows what else. The padawan, unarmoured and lightly armed, had a much quicker and easier time moving around on his feet and used that to his advantage on the approach. The Force flowed through Gabriel, preparing for his next move during his turtling advance.
Two would be big trouble, but maybe if he could just take down one it would help.
