Most of the other refugees in the camp had been moved out to wherever the Republic sought it necessary. All that remained among the shelters were a unit of republic soldiers, some medical droids and Tyr himself. He had remained behind when the other refugees had been moved out. Something about his 'Midi-chlorian' count.

Tyr had left the camp and was sitting out tending a fire when one of the medical droids arrived delivering the news.

"Master Farii, I have been informed to relay that the Republic has contacted the Jedi Orders about you, and that if they find your case worthwhile, a Jedi will be sent for you. That is all."

He waved the droid away, and leaned back on a fallen tree limb and began to think to himself. What is a jedi anyway?

A cloaked and hooded figure stopped at the gate of the refugee camp. He presented something from beneath his cloak and the guard immediately saluted and stepped to the side. This happened often enough as many Jedi were also prominent military leaders. The guard spoke to the man once more, but he was ignored and went back to his post.

Meanwhile the Jedi continued along his path, directly towards the young man. It was obvious from the way this Jedi walked that he was at least humanoid and male. As he neared the boy, it would become apparent that he was in fact not entirely human. Bluish-green skin reflected ever so slightly beneath his hood betrayed his aquatic nature, yet he held true many human aspects. He stopped short of the boy and stood silently, expecting some kind of greeting.

Tyr was laying back, musing. For a while he had been listening to his environment, the droids, the soldiers, the forest. There was something new approaching, he rose to meet it.

The fires light glinted off of the man differently than other people, glints of other colors were noticeable. But Tyr kept his distance and rose to standing.

"Are you the Jedi I was told to be expecting?"

"I am Lirinid Xull'Izz, a Jedi Knight of the Order." Under his hood, he gave a slight bow only with his head. He could tell the boy had potential, he only needed to test him. The only issue was, Lirinid had never tested anyone. It would probably come from simply having a conversation.

Tyr stared off into space for a moment, sizing up the man in his mind. After a while he nodded a bit and spoke.

"What am I supposed to do? What will my duties be?"

This was turning awkward fast. "It has become apparent that you are force sensitive. Because of this, you are to be tested to find your sensitivity and possibly inducted into the order. Now, I'm going to need you to cooperate with me."

Lirinid reached into his bag and pulled out a very thin datapad. Turning it on he navigated it until stopping. Clearly he'd found what he needed. "Next I am going to have you try and use the force. Have you ever felt the force? It evades a description that any one person can describe. He then stopped, realizing he needed to elaborate. He put the datapad down and took a seat on a crate near to the boy.

"The force is an energy that surrounds us. It connects us and separates us, it is within all things and like water it has many temperatures. It can be fiery hot, scathingly even. It can chill you to the bone, colder than your imagination. You may find this true, but this is my description."

Tyr stood back for a moment. As the Jedi spoke of the force, a strange upwelling of what Tyr thought was adrenaline began running through his veins, he also thought he heard voices echoing from the forest, but there was nothing there. His eyes darted from the tree line back to the Jedi. There was a thumping in his chest, but he managed a response.

"I don't think I have sir, but I am willing to try." He stammered out the last part of the phrase, as the upwelling began again, in his stomach.

"It's a very simple test. All I need you to do is try to see what is on my datapad." The usual results were that they would attain vague images every so often, but really no one but a trained knight could attain near perfect accuracy. If the boy was force sensitive he would get a few.

Lirinid raised a blue and slightly webbed hand to grasp the datapad. He raised it and selected an image. On his screen there was now a white tree. "Close your eyes and take your time. When you believe you have an answer, tell me."

Tyr thought to himself for a moment. His eyes remained focused on the back of the datapad as he sat back. He took a breath and closed his eyes, stomach twitching again.

Moments passed, his focus shifted from many possible images. Slowly images began to appear in his mind.

"Its a picture, that involves.. leaves, and the color white.. like fresh snow..?"

It was confusing, there were ton of images of things he didn't know of flying through his mind.

An impressive answer, few younglings could conjure such detail. "Good." He answered, not sounding impressed or disapproving. He tapped the side of the datapad and a new image appeared. This time, it was a simple shape, a ring. The ring was a wedding band, a diamond rested on top.

"Next."

He took another deep breath, again focusing first on what the image could be now. The voices from the woods rose again for a moment, causing Tyr to nearly turn his head to see again.

Images were coming to mind again, but this time they were moving.

"A happy woman, a closed gift box, the womans saying 'Yes of course' repeatedly. Tears of joy?"

His eyes shot open with a start after he gave the answer, he felt drained, exhausted.

Odd connections, the images he conjured were specific in an odd manner. Lirinid clearly didn't have proper experience to understand. He wanted to continue, but it was already obvious the boy was force sensitive. Lirinid stood up.

"Mr. Farii, this has been enough of a test for now. Why don't we get out of here. You can tell me how this all came about in the mean time."

Tyr wiped his forehead and leaned back, picking up the bag containing his belongings. He rose slinging it over his shoulder.

"Simply enough, offworlders attacked my home. They took out just about any family in this region, my parents took me to the storehouse to hide before they went with the rest of the militia to drive them back. Last thing I remember is seeing some of the offworlders firing into where I was. Then I was here at the camp. One of the droids took a blood sample, blurted something about 'Midi-chlorians', and sent word to the Republic."

He looked back to the forest again.

"Then you showed up. Whats gonna happen now?"

Lirinid silently listened, he'd seen the medical results, the physical inkling that there was force sensitivity. Then meeting the boy and testing him had confirmed this. Lirinid was confident enough to declare the boy force sensitive. "You're going to be a Jedi."

He then steeled himself for what he expected were to be an avalanche of questions.

Tyr scratched his head while staring at the man.

"I assume its better than trying to make my way around as a refugee then. Will I have duties? What of the other refugees, any idea whats going to happen to them?"

Under his hood he cracked a smile, "The plans for the refugees have long been underway, most of them are being taken to a more prepared residence now. We will be here a few days to watch over them."

Tyr nodded. "At least I know they're safe." He checked that he had all of his belongings and made sure the fire was out. He took one last look at the forest, then turned back to the Jedi. "I'm ready to leave now if you are."

"I'm in no rush." He motioned for the boy to walk with him.

"Do you know what a Jedi is, Tyr?"

Tyr fell somewhat into step behind the Jedi. "No, you're the first one I've run into, and I doubt you just spend your time just looking at what could be on datapads. I guess they look after people, and use the force?"

"Jedi are keepers of the peace and followers of the light side of the force. When you meet more Jedi, you will see what they are like. We follow the Jedi code, something you should do well to learn." On that note he opened his datapad and selected a file. Opening it he handed it to the young man and began to recite the code.

"Emotion, yet peace
Ignorance, yet knowledge
Passion, yet serenity
Chaos, yet harmony
Death, yet the force."
