Next was time to test Tyr's mind. The boy was able to understand what he'd said so far. Passion would be a good subject for debate, as it was always a subject of debate.

"Third is 'passion, yet serenity'. Interpret it's meaning for us."

Tyr blinked, thinking deeply. He thought back to the other topics, Emotion.. knowledge.

"Giving into your emotions? Thus breaking the serenity by not controlling them?"

He shifted in his seat, deep in thought. Te phrase "What is passion?" kept coming to mind.

"I feel, I feel as though passion is what happens when you abandon everything, all thought, in order to achieve your desires. Like you give up yourself for what you want."

"And what happens... What happens when we give ourselves to passion? What can the consequences of that be?"

Tyr focused his thoughts. He struggled in them. "I...I Don't know."

He clicked his tongue at the boy, "Think for a moment. I won't be content with that kind of answer. Speak your mind."

He focused again, taking a deep breath. It took a moment but finally something came up.

"Could someone be driven to kill another in an act of passion?"

"Could someone be driven to kill another in an act of passion?"

"Usually, that's the case, Tyr." He said somberly.

He leaned back, taking in the masters comment.

"So thats why we are to control our emotions then, so that we do not strike out at others. Justice is not to be handed out by the sword only."

"Justice is never handed out and never with a sword. A Jedi's lightsaber- or sword if you choose- is never to be used in such a manner." If Lirinid was using a different tone, he would have been scolding, but his tone was too light for that. He was just letting the boy know the way of things.

He nodded. "I understand, Master."

"We're done for now, Tyr. Get some sleep" Lirinid rose and started towards the tent door. "Don't go walking around this time of night." He said before leaving. His datapad sat on his cot, open and all. Tyr could look through it if he wished, if he wasn't too afraid. Lirinid had done this on purpose, maybe to fill in a few gaps. There wasn't anything in there that he wouldn't let the boy read anyway, mostly testing materials and a few history volumes.

Tyr was still rising to his feet when the Jedi left. He decided to follow his instructions and try to get some sleep, but the events of the day stayed in his mind, keeping him awake. The knot in his stomach returned again, and he felt as though he was hearing whispers from the forests again. He stirred for what seemed to be hours on the cot, eventually he rose up, and looked towards the door.

"Who is he telling that its 'dangerous walking around at night.' I'm the one who has lived here my whole life." He thought to himself. After putting on a travelers cloak he walked to the door.

He slipped out of the tent, and aside from a few republic troops there was no one seen outside. He drew the hood over his head and made way for where he thought the voices were originating from.

He walked a short distance into the forest and the voices never changed. He continued again till a familiar voice sprang out amongst the others. It was his mothers, but that was impossible. Considering she died along with the rest of the militia defending the village. The voice was traced back to a massive tree, He still saw no direct source of the sound, it was as though her voice was all around now. Exhausted, Tyr made the decision to get some rest, but sleeping on the forest floor was a stupid idea. He peered into the branches of the tree above him, and saw there were no nests of any kind in it.

He climbed up high enough to avoid any predators who would be sulking on the ground and where the branches would still be strong enough to support his weight. He had done this many times before. He laid back, head against the trunk and began to finally dose off. Even with the voices around him exhaustion finally took control.

His dreams were disturbing, full of the sounds of something cutting through the air.

He knew the boy might try something, so when he exited the tent he simply watched it from afar. In the shadow, he saw the boy creep from the tent and toss a hood over his head. He followed the boy without his knowledge, he wouldn't even need the force to do so. Then the boy slept, in the wild.

Lirinid didn't need the rest, but the boy would find himself waking to a slightly bothered looking Jedi Knight. He'd sat there and let time pass as the boy slept. Perhaps the boy enjoyed wandering, as some did. Lirinid was not a wandered however, he was far too content in one place. Maybe all Tyr needed was some guidance.

When Tyr would finally wake on his own Lirinid spoke, "Sleep alright?"

Tyr woke up slowly, his eyes were still closed when he heard the Jedi speak. He became fully awake a moment later, due to the sound of the branch cracking underneath him. All he was able to say was but a "Wha-?" Before the branch gave way sending both of them tumbling back to the ground. Tyr landed hard, but it wasn't the landing that gave him his bruised shoulder. After rolling on the ground rubbing the pain off, Tyr noticed something shining out from the ground. Upon closer inspection, and rising to his feet he realized that it was the hilt of a vibroblade. After checking for any more damage on his body he knelt down and pulled the rest of it from the ground, it was in near perfect condition, aside from the dirt and muck, it even had a sheath that could attach to a belt loop.

He took it with him as he went searching for the Jedi.

Lirinid had not planned on the branch breaking, he'd been sitting for hours on the branch before it gave way. Unlike Tyr, Lirinid was awake and landed gently on his feet. Of course, it took hima moment to find Tyr, who had managed to twist his way around the large tree. Smiling slightly at the situation he rounded the tree until he saw Tyr pick up the sword, a weapon designed to kill.

Lirinid took a much more serious tone then, "I'd put that back where you found it." He didn't finish his sentence, but he wouldn't need to in order to get his point across. Tyr did not need a weapon, nor would Lirinid allow one.

Tyr's face was emotionless for a moment. He blinked, thinking of a response that would sound sane.

"Master, please hear me out. I am sorry that I disobeyed you last night. But.. but I think my mother called me out to this place,"

He unsheathed the sword, keeping the bladed edge facing the ground.

"She spoke to me in my dream last night, she told me to take this up, not to seek vengeance against her murderers. But to defend. Not just myself, but anyone that I can."

He replaced the sword in its sheath and kneeled before the Jedi.

"Please master, I swear never to disobey you ever again if you allow me to take this with me. I'll learn how to use it in a defensive manner only."

He was slightly charmed by Tyr's statements, but for his own good, Lirinid knew he couldn't let the untrained boy carry a weapon. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you carry a weapon yet. In time, you will be allowed a training lightsaber to use, but not now; and especially not a vibroblade."

He reached a hand out, motioning for Tyr to give up the weapon.

He bowed his head, and handed the weapon to the Jedi. He then rose silently thinking to himself, "I'll earn that back someday."
