In Nolan's Batmaniverse Robin has never and will never exist. The kid may even be called Dick Grayson, but he'll never grow up to be Batman's partner.

Nolan's Batmaniverse ends with The Dark Knight Rises. Save for Batman dying, there's nothing that would prevent anyone from thinking that the kid could one day be Robin.

In other words, someone else could go and continue off the Nolan Series without Nolan since I believe it's the studio that holds the right to the films and such.

Kurt said awhile back (though I never found confirmation but I'll take his word for it) that Nolan has something in his contract that says he gets to dictate what happens in his film series, and he gets to say when it ends. Once he ends it, they start anew -- which is why Batman 4 is another reboot.

I'm talking more about people watching the moving, wanting to say "That's Robin," and having nothing to prevent them from doing so.

Heck, Zsasz was in the film for a measly few minutes back in Batman Begins, to Nolan, it's not about cramming in as many characters as possible, it's the story and Batman's arc that matters and all that dictates how he chooses characters is how well they can affect this story.

I'm hoping Nolan leaves it open. Rebooting it again just seems painful to me, especially when so many people like this incarnation.

Yeah, but when Nolan steps away, do you really think it'll be the same? Nolan has a talent for compelling, believable characters and storytelling. Carrying on without a reboot runs the risk of bringing ruin to the series; it's safer to have three amazing Batman films, and suffer the reboot.

He'll still be there to produce it, but The Man of Steel will show whether or not his influence works well without him writing and directing since he's producing that.

Tom Hardy is a ****ing superb actor.

Though the amount he bulks up and down for his roles is mental.

Yeah, Christian Bale is the same way. He went from this for The Machinist:

Right to that for Batman Begins.

It would be a shame if anyone else touched Nolan's Batman. This trilogy is his, any other punt should be for another director to do irrelevant of this if they so wish. Although I would quite like them to leave Batman well alone for a while.
