If you're a vampire you wouldn't care if you drained people of blood or had the hospital do it for you. When you're a vampire, you have no humanity. Humans are only food - nothing else. It's like they're potato chips. You don't care about the feelings of a potato chip, as a general rule. Plus, after a while (you have eternity to burn) raiding blood banks would become old - it's the same old thing. At least with live prey you have the thrill of the hunt going for you. After a while, you'd go for more and more difficult people to catch - maybe going for vampire hunters just for kicks - there's not much else to do.

Well that's assuming a lot actually. Just because you lose your humanity doesn't mean that you become a complete animal. Some vampires amy cary themselves with a certain amount of class and wish to do no harm. Think of them like the hippie vampires who believe that taking from the innocent is too much of a parasitic life style. so they would rather get a steady and reliable source of blood by maybe getting a human to bring them what they need. To assume they all have a thrill is a huge generalization. To think a race with intelligence equal to that of humans would not have diverse personalities and tendencies is a bit odd.

Hm. You bring up a lot of good points.

But still, when you take away someone's humanity, that takes away a lot. Doesn't take away intelligence, ability for thought, or any biological impulses that come with being a vampire. I guess what a vampire would feel would depend on the definition of humanity.

And yes, that was kind of a generalization, I was thinking of what a generic vampire might do. They will have their own way of doing things and stuff with their own flare, but they still have to eat one way or another and burn away eternity.

You would have the opportunity to remove your immortality as Sin said you would only be ageless but not actually immortal. Though I'm not sure why immortality would suck unless you took it to an extreme like trillions of years.
