Outrageous is right. I wasn't aware Senators had the power to secede from the Republic. :P

I agree. Wouldn't that be more up to the people of that planet?

Not all Senator, I believe Senators of major planets and the core words like Coruscant, and Alderaan can not secede.:bitchez

Gabriel Djibril is not just the Senator, he's also apart of the government's Representative Council. As a war hero (so his bio claims), he has good bullying powers against the other councilors to go with him.

Wouldn't they most likely support the secession since the Republic is loosing the war?

The Republic has lasted for thousands of years and provided stability and support. Why the hell would a member world secede because the Hutts have taken territory on the outer rim? Morale may be low but that doesn't mean everyone's going to become a turncoat.

That's actually the least likely time for a government to secede. It makes the government look like a complete wuss to both factions involved.

not necessarily. The population may be worried, but knowing that Hutt domination of their system would bring slavery, high crime, and all around oppression, they really would not be wanting that. it's not as black and white as winning or loosing a war.

you need to look at it socially, economically, and culturally before you see anything else. If anything in reality the senator who " represents" a planet would be seen as an extremest even on his own world by the general population.

Well, Obro-Ska(not sure if spelled correctly) is close to Hutt territory which is why the people their would most likely be afraid....of course not mentioning that fact that the republic have been proving the fact that they can't protect their allies so far

You have a good point....also I don't like the fact that Djibril secedes every time someone on either sides hurt his feelings. :CStern

Most of you guys have planets in the core of the Republic. Obroa-skai is right at the boarder near Hutt space. Not only that, they're near the secret Hutt capital, making them a target so that the republic can't mobilize for an attack at their secret capital, were it discovered, at a nearby planet.

In a sense, Djibril is probably saving his planet from plundering and slavery by joining the Hutt Empire with conditions, namely the contined self-sovereignty of Obroa-skai and safety from other Hutts.

This!!!that is is why and I said the Republic should babysit Djibril and then use his planet as an attack point to strike against Myrker.

To be honest, the only reason I had Djibril return was because of Meet an Ambassador. I just used this as an early excuse to secede. Had that not happened, I planned to have him secede during the 4 year intermediate between wars when he realized that the Hutts were prepping for another war.

Flimsy reasoning aside - seeing as the Hutts are galactically renowned as liars and cheats, such a deal would hardly be considered trustworthy unless you were really naive - You still haven't really explained how your character personally has the authority to seceed.

Because the Hutts are oh so honorable and will definitely keep their word.

Thustra's close to the outer rim. You don't see me menstruating and pissing all over the place.

That is why the Hutts should send an envoy to Thustra for some negotiations.:bitchez Also I am pretty sure that Thustra will be the next planet on the Hutt list along with Denon.

they can try to hit Denon.....but can't.....

at least not without being held up at Gendrah-Narvin or Spirana first.

OMFG! look fortifications! yay pro-activeness.....

I love that we have room in the senate for those with special needs though, shows how progressive we are.

just as long as nobody is biting anyone to slate their pika or tries to take off the crash helmets.

oh and they can try for Thustra but I will be blunt that it makes very very little strategic sense for them before locking down more important areas around it first >.>
