Taizen jumped out of the way and onto a bookshelf that almost touched the ceiling in the widely domed room. The footing was only wide enough for 1 big person however. "It's all over Master. I have the high ground!"

Chester smiled as his Padawan dodged his attack. He was using the environment and he proved quite capable at using the Force. However, Chester too was proficient in these same skills. Instead of leaping up and attacking his Padawan -as Taizen probably expected he would- and exposing himself to his student's attack, Chester used the Force to drag the bookshelf away from the wall, carrying it with the power of his mind.

While it was still moving, the Jedi Master branched out his thoughts and continued his telekinetic attack. Pulling holobooks from their positions on the shelf, Chester threw them at his Padawan, pummeling him with projectiles and makeshift missiles. Finally, while his student was still -presumably- trying to keep his balance and avoid getting hit by the flying books, Chester threw his lightsaber at his Padawan, aiming for his chest.

Taizen was surprised by his masters method of attack. He had expected that he would run up the wall and try slashing at him, and he had forgotten about the power of the force. But he didn't excel at 0-g exercises, and tumbling for no reason at all. The years of practice that had enabled him to do stunts and flips helped him now.

He dodged the majority of the books and projectiles thrown at him from the bookshelf, and even before his master threw his lightsaber at him his danger sense was tingling and he could feel his masters next move. he ducked and let his feet slide out under him.

He attempted to forcepush his master into the wall as his lightsaber seared into the door behind him and was stuck there solid. If he pulled it off right he could slam his master into the wall, daze him and snatch his lightsaber from his grasp.

((How do I perform an action without godmodding? Like, per se can I force shove you into the wall as long as it doesn't physically break any of your characters bones, in order that I can attempt to go after your lightsaber? I mean, in a story the characters do whatever the author tells them to, but we each have our own characters and as you've seen a little bit I have a hard time drawing the line between the control that my character has vrs how I can impact your characters life. It feels stupid to say "attempted to" every time I want to perform an action, because I want to actually see some action! So how much can I do to your character before it becomes godmodding?))

{{Duels are dependent on all their participants. I've never involved myself in an RP lightsaber duel outside of training threads, so I can only offer some advice based on what I've read. If a post is well-written, detailed, and believable (based on the character's strength), then there's a greater chance of something ''happening'', so to speak. You can certainly 'control' another person's character, but you must use discretion and should try to do so in a way where you'll always give your opponent a chance to react.

Also, keep in mind that, while our characters are vastly different in IU skill (Padawan-Master) and you should take that into consideration, it is not impossible for a well-rounded and versed RP'er to defeat a Master with, say, a Padawan/Acolyte. It would be hard, but not impossible.

I hope that answers your question, somewhat :p}}

{{Do note that a lightsaber would never get stuck in a wall. It would just keep cutting through the material and eventually fall onto the floor/through the floor.}}

Chester flew back slightly, not expecting his Padawan to attack him with a Force push. While he was slightly stunned by the attack, he found his lightsaber missing from his grasp. Had Taizen taken it? There was a good possibility.

Once his vision had cleared, the Jedi Master discovered that this was indeed the case. He had been careless. However, instead of calling off the duel, Chester would fight unarmed. He allowed Taizen to move first; Chester wanted to see what his student would do with this advantage.

((Thx, and yes you did answer my question very well. :) As for the lightsaber part that was kinda silly o' me. Your right of course, that's why a lightsaber is such a deadly weapon.))

Taizen advanced carefully in a wide Teras Kassi horse stance and bared his teeth at his master in a menacing smile. He started twirling both of the blades in a circular motion with a rhythmitic pattern to it too. He adjusted his stance and threw a quick one two at his master, but before even reaching his masters body he backed up and used the force to run to the side of him.

By the time he had reached his side he disengaged both of the lightsabers and somersaulted away from his master. Finally, he saw an opening and lighted both blades simultaneously and did a jab with his blade at his masters gut and chopped at his heels with his teachers blade.

Chester Ducere watched his Padawan approach, both lightsabers in hand. He had put up Force armor, just in case his Padawan attacked him before the Jedi Master could strike back. However, his defense wasn't needed, so he put it down when his student approached him from the side.

Taizen had quite a fierce look on his face. He was letting the battle and the adrenaline get to him, no doubt. Chester would have to remedy that. Emotion, yet peace. Chester thought. Since he was unarmed, there was no way to actually defend himself from Taizen's lightsabers, so he would have to make due with dodging them. As his Padawan approached, Chester waved his right hand, creating a small ball of light before his Padawan. It was not strong enough to blind him -as Chester could have done against a real opponent- but it was strong enough to temporary disorient him, should he not react quick enough. However, Taizen's attacks were already forthcoming.

Chester grabbed his Padawan's arm -the one with Taizen's lightsaber- and prevented the weapon from advancing into his gut. Holding his arm in place, he let his own lightsaber slice at his heels, sending a burning sensation running through them. To counter, Chester used his free hand to jab at his Padawan's chest, hoping to knock the wind out of him. There was very little distance between them, and it would be difficult to dodge.

This attack made Taizen angry. It didn't wind him but the pain and the light combined blinded him for a couple of seconds. Something leapt up inside of Taizen, an animal waiting to rage. He disengaged his lightsaber and leapt up behind his master and bearhugged him tightly from behind, hurling him right towards a table.

The duel was getting quite violent. With Taizen's lightsaber disengaged, Chester had a chance to turn their fight around. His Padawan's grip tried to keep him contained, like a vice, but the Jedi Master was quite strong in his own right. He managed to force his left hand free, and as he flew toward the table, a quick, one-handed flip helped him to recover his footing without colliding with the table. It had been quite close, though, and the Jedi Master counted his blessings. Granted, the duel should have ended as Chester's ankles were 'cut off' by his own lower-powered lightsaber, but Chester wanted to ensure that his Padawan's rage wouldn't get the best of him.

Jumping behind the table, Chester propelled it forward, aiming it at his Padawan's legs. If the Zabrak student didn't jump, it would collide into his knees and very likely cause him to lose his balance; however, it wasn't strong enough to shatter any bones or tear anything. The Jedi Master remained back, near a wall, not willing to go on the offensive without a lightsaber.

Again, his master must have forgotten his ability in gymnastics. He easily dodged the table with the adrenaline pumping through his blood. His anger was dying down and he was able to focus easier. He ignited both lightsabers and catapulted off the side of the wall next to his master and lunged at neckbreaking speed towards him with an uppercut to the leg, and a sideswipe to the ribs.

Chester used the Force to create a ripple of telekinetic energy that sent Taizen flying back, although there was a good chance that he would still have both lightsabers. Regardless, Chester needed a moment to breathe, and it wasn't likely that his Padawan would relent anytime soon.

*Timeskip*

They had been dueling for several days, trading off between basic sparring and actually practicing the basic and intermediary skills of Makashi. Since their first day of combat, Chester had noticed that Taizen had improved, and he was pleased with the progress he was making. They had since been relocated to Ossus, where the old Jedi temple was located. However, this part of the training was almost complete.

They were still in a rather spacious training area, much like the one on Coruscant, beside the fact that this one didn't betray signs of combat damage. Chester held his lightsaber low, far from his body and not necessarily in the best defensive position. His Padawan had his own lightsaber as well, but at the distance they were standing Chester knew he would have time to react before Taizen attacked.

"Whenever you are ready, Padawan," Chester called out.

Taizen nodded. He attacked smoothly and with grace, ducking his head and rolling as he jumped in mid air and sliced at Chester. Aiming high, Taizen took a shot at his master's clavacle.

Chester watched his Padawan leap through the air toward his position. The Jedi Master redirected his weapon, positioning it near his head to defend his upper body. As Taizen flew over Chester, he repulsed the attack; Taizen's strike was parried while the Padawan himself continued toward the ground. Chester pivoted and turned around, facing his Padawan again. Always on the defensive, he allowed his pupil another try.

One, two, three strikes!! The blades hissed and sparked but the strikes weren't enough to break through his master's barrier. Desperate, Taizen performed an impromptu strike at his masters head with the heel of his boot. There was very little room for him to move his lightsaber, so he would either have to block it with his hands or duck quickly.

Chester grasped Taizen's ankle, but his grip was awkward and the strike still managed to hit his upper shoulder. Letting go of his Padawan's foot, he waited until Taizen recovered his balance and then advanced.

He swung left, and then right, aiming for his Padawan's arms. Then, regardless of how well his Padawan parried these strikes, Chester performed a quick spin and struck at his pupil's lower legs, intent on causing him to fall and possibly lose his lightsaber. Once he had concluded these three strikes, Chester fell back again.

Taizen parried the first two blocks moderately well yet with a bit of hesitation and anxiety in the blocks. Then the third strike came which he was not prepared for and he managed to avoid the strike to his legs but by doing so he had to cartwheel out of the way, letting go of his lightsaber. It automatically shut off and he reached out with the force to grab it.

"Ah, calm yourself, Padawan." Chester deactivated his own lightsaber and placed it on his belt. "We're done here."

The Jedi Master brushed the dust and other residual debris from his cloak before returning his attention to Taizen. He had -presumably- gotten his lightsaber back by now. "You've completed your most basic training. However, your time as a Padawan is not over just yet. You must prove that you can use your skills in the galaxy as well. With that in mind, follow me. We'll be leaving Ossus and won't be returning for a while, so if you need anything, pick it up now. Meet me in the hangars when you're ready."

Taizen grabbed his carry-on duffel bag and stuffed some necessities in it. Then he met his master out in the hangars. It was raining and rain poured down his face illuminating the scars and tatoos of his race. "Can we leave yet Master?" Complained Taizen in nervousness.

"Of course. Come along, Padawan. We're going to venture offworld, probably closer to the Core."

Chester pointed toward a small, two-man Jedi starfighter that was already ready to launch. The Jedi Master took the pilot's seat while he allowed his Padawan to get settled in the co-pilot/gunner's seat. Once he had run a pre-flight diagnostic, Chester checked his earpiece comlink. Everything was in working order, and Chester piloted the ship away from Ossus.
