I guess it's nice that Brienne got revenge on behalf of that guy none of us care about.

Though probably not, because scenes that cut away from a "death" like that usually result in "she swung at the tree instead, because she realized killing him would bring her no comfort."

- TEAM VARYON IS BACK IN BIDNESS. Seriously, this is the only really exciting thing this finale. Also this episode answered my question: Peter Dinklage has chemistry with everyone (and speaks Low/High Valyrian)

- Daario was way more interesting when away from Daenerys. Will be interesting to see his thang with Jorah.

This was pretty much the only part of the episode I liked.

- Oh no Myrcella. So sad. Not really. Dorne is still coming in pretty high on the pointless scale.

I don't believe this death will hold. Same with Jon. Cutting away from deaths before someone is dead is generally a cheap gimmick that goes nowhere. They didn't cut away from Jon, of course, but there's just no thematic reason to kill him off (contrary to what Martin might like to claim about how "bad things happen to good people/heroes don't always win," there's really nothing story-wise that benefits from Jon's death. Unlike Robert, Ned, Robb, etc.)

Nah he's dead. Listen to the sound editing. Extradiegetically that's basically a "He's dead Jim." Thematically and pace the narrative there's nothing left for Mssr. Stannis to do. There's also the matter of him bleeding out from his leg and ALL OF HIS ARMY is dead.

And why would Brienne spare him? He didn't say anything that would have made her reconsider and he's no longer sympathetic (if Shireen were alive, and if say he and Brienne had fought in a duel or something, then maybe.) The scene is obvious because the show is obvious, not because it's faking you out.

Myrcella... maybe, but there's nothing for her to really do except die to give male doods motivation. So yeah. She's dead too.

The argument about Jon Snow seals it. Even D&D aren't shameless enough to have not one, not two, but three fakeouts in a season finale.

I can see one of them being really dead, for sure. Perhaps Stannis, but that's still a cheap cinematic gimmick, and one that I won't actually believe until I see a body. Same with Myrcella. I'll believe it when I see it.

Jon is definitely coming back, though.

Cheap cinematic gimmicks? On this show? Couldn't be.

Thinking back on this season, it really is going to take a long time to unravel just the various ways it was shitty. Dorne increasingly is looking like a way to service the Lannister plot (and to set up some allies for Daenerys when she finally lands.) The North might as well have been reset (Jon Snow is in mortal peril! A threat from the North is at the walls!) We did get resolution on Stannis, but nobody cared after the Shireen bonfire. Arya's training hasn't meaningfully gone anywhere (and is actually behind the point where we were in the books.) Sansa is in the clutches of a psychopath with startlingly blue eyes. We got some minor stuff here or there (Brienne and Pod), but mostly this has been a really wasted season.

Just about the only thing this season accomplished that really changed things was getting Tyrion to rule Meereen. TV!Tyrion is ridiculously competent, far more so than Book!Tyrion and he has Varys on his side. Can't see those two not kicking the crap out of this insurgency.

On the plus side, Silicon Valley was pretty great this season.

D&D are trying to pull some serious fake out shit with Jon Snow. They brought Kit in and gave him his walking papers, Kit's been told that he's dead for good and is out of appearance contract (he cut his hair a little bit ago), D&D respond to all queries with Dead is Dead, and they're sticking by that.

And yet Melisandre coming back to the Wall clearly shows that Jon is not going to stay dead... though it's worth noting that Melisandre technically doesn't actually have that ability afawk (see Season 3 where she reacts with shock/horror at Thoros having that kind of power)...

Dorne was largely pointless (and god forbid they just turn the effing boat around, they're less than a mile off shore.), the Greyjoys never made an appearance despite IMDB listing so with Stannis' death Balon Greyjoy won the War of the Five Kings.... and a Greyjoy shouldnt win at anything. Theoreek manning up and saving Sansa was both satisfying (because Theon helped Sansa) and annoying (because the scene didn't contain Ramsay getting his shirtless ass pwned with a corkscrew, oh and also Sansas pattern of victimization and not showing any of the strength/cunning she was supposed to gain from her education with Baelish and her survival of Kings Landing), Jorah and Daario/Euron are our new designated buddy cop pairing, Lena Headey looks good with a pixie cut but that scene was gratuitous, Aryas' murder-rage was not going to work out for anyone, I now have serioues questions about just how many face copies can be made, they faked us out with Benjen, and 1/2 of Clegane Bowl (GET HYPE!!) is prepared. I honestly don't care about Dany beyond what happens to her dragons so *shrugs*...

Oh, and Peter Dinklage again proves that he has chemistry with every possible actor you can put him on a set with, and my favorite catty alcoholic sitcom 2 Half Men is back on track for Season 6.

Meh. I'm still waiting for that album of Bronn singing the Songs of Westeros.

You shouldn't listen to IMDB unless other sources confirm what it's saying. IMDB is user-generated and people post bullshit there all the time.

Yeah, I'd been following rumors on the r/gameofthrones subreddit (which has overwhelmingly converted to Team WhiteWalker following the season finale.) A futile hope that they'd get some of the Greyjoy stuff out of the way now so that there's less to do with it next season.... Really not looking forward to the Kingsmoot.

Wait so why do people not like the finale? I thought it was cool, RIP Stannis, (He's Not Dead) RIP Jon, (He's Not Dead Either) Sansa and Theon have followed bran in the ways of a cripple. Arya's Blind. What else....what else....Oh ya Jamie is a Father for all of what ten seconds? Five seconds?

On a serious note though i did like the episode.

Stannis' character assassination goes beyond the grave and continues to beat him in the afterlife. Half of his army deserts without anybody thinking to tell him, Melisandre buggers off despite her visions and certainty despite the odds in the past because, um... R'hllor hungers? One of the greatest military minds in Westeros is surrounded by Ramsay the Bastard of Sueton and 20,000 GOOD MEN. Brienne then conveniently teleports to his location as opposed to any of those Bolton troops. In DnD's continued fan fiction drama of showing us how amazing she is, she gets to 'kill' Stannis (though given the lack of seeing him die... probably not, shockingly).

We need to be reminded that Meryn Trant is not a nice person and that you should root for Arya. You think making Stannis burn his daughter so the audience knows to root for Brienne was too subtle? Well, he's not only a pedophile but also beats girls with sticks. Grrr, I sure do hope Arya gets her convenient vengeance!

The Hilarious Adventures of Jamie and Bronn continue. Don't worry dad, incest is okay! I'm totally happy that you're my father because reasons! Oh, I guess it's time for me to die. Gah, it's not like we could turn this ship around about ten meters from the shore and find somebody in the whole country who might POSSIBLY have a motive for trying to kill Mycella and also kissed her whilst using a poison on the lips! Maybe the 'bad pussy' was that repulsive.

Apparently those thousands of horses that Stannis' troops ran off with ended up in Essos so they could surround Dany rather than find her with her dragon. Uh-oh, how's Khalessi gonna get out of this one?

CGI Ceresi. Shame. le hypebowl meymey confurmed.

Wow, Oily stabbed Jon! Didn't see that one coming!

With the show now passing the books I'm on the edge of my seat to see how an entire season of OC works out, assuming I don't read the draft on fanfiction.net first.

I didn't find it to be all that good. No payoff for the little buildup we got this season, and instead more filler because we really didn't know that Trant was an awful person, and we really needed to go through the whole shazam with Cersei, and have a touching conversation between Jaime and Myrcella before she dies, because daughters dying for stupid reasons after assuring their father seems to be the theme of this season's end.

It was an incredibly pointless episode filled with stupid "Will our valiant heroes make it out of this one alive? Stay tuned!" moments, capping off an incredibly pointless season in which little progress was made anywhere, and large amounts of it were virtually reset.

You two are right the Episode was kinda lame if you break it down. Although there where a few things i liked about it, Mainly Stannis's death scene, That dude is just a Badass. I know a lot of his fan base went tumbling down when he burnt his daughter alive, but i really did not mind. On top of that when those Bolton's all came out and Stannis has just got that look like "Were all about to get slaughtered, but i am going to fight anyways."

Then he kills those two Boltons as he's wounded. Meets Brienne they have there talk, Then he's all like "Do your Duty" Lol he does not care! Loved the Stannis part i think that Actor nailed his interpretation of the character. I will say they did ******* up his story though, basically everything you said about it Calixis. I think i just liked his finale moments to much. (He's not dead though, Not until i see him die.)

The other thing i liked was of course my main man Jon Snow. He died pretty cool to, Like utterly betrayed and crushed. Honestly i thought Ser Alliser Thorne would of helped Him, but no. Those are my main to favorite things about the episode, pretty much the only stuff i liked. ******* You Ollie!

Now onto a better topic what was everyone's favorite Episode? Mine has to be Episode 8 by far.

This is exactly how I feel about this season. Ironically enough, I was rewatching a few scenes and realized Tormund and Bronn also referenced "twenty good men" as well. It makes you wonder why anyone in Westeros bothers having armies in the thousands instead of organizing their forces in groups of twenty.

I hope next season they don't show Jon Snow at all, and Melisandre finds a way to bring him to the Brotherhood Without Banners, and maybe he shows up in the finale. It'd be a good way to lead into the Riverlands stories that were all skipped in the book. At this point they could take all the things they've skipped and make another season, which'd give GRRM the time he needs to finish Winds of Winter.

Also as the only Greyjoy fan in the world, I'm vaguely happy to see that Balon won, even if he didn't show up in the episode like I thought he would.

Also: Reminder that Littlefinger is about to wipe the Bolton scum from the face of the Earth.
