I've used both, and I gotta say I prefer the desktop. The laptop is cool and all, don't get me wrong, but my desktop is much more powerful, hence, I like it more.

EDIT: Wow, polls are neck and neck.

I prefer laptops, but that's personally because I'm constantly moving around, I can bring it with me when I go away on weekends and such.

Laptops, for most of the reasons listed above. I don't do much PC gaming, anyway.

Don't you laptop users get annoyed at how hot laptops get? I can't stand that.

It's not that bad usually, I just set it on a desk in front of me, it only gets crazy hot if you have it on your lap and use it for hours straight haha.

If you allow it to overheat it can damage the hardware. Poorly cooled laptops have surprisingly short lives because of this.

Get a desktop if you can. Laptops have horrible cooling systems, though they're more portable (I need to get an external cooling system for my laptop). >.<

I'm a gamer dude, so yeah: my laptop is on for hours at a time: I have to prop it up so that the fan can work at its maximum potential when I'm just idling at my laptop. I don't have a desktop computer.

I've used both, and it's not really a one over the other thing.

Both are good for different things.

I can't really answer this question because it all depends if you want a mobile or a non mobile computer. The only upside I see to desktops is the pricetag. There are some pretty powerful laptops out there but they come with a big price.

You can, with the money, get a laptop that is very competent gaming wise (per mine), and while you can always get a more powerful desktop for the same price, the fact that I can play EaW, WiC, The Witcher, and any number of other games at school makes it better for me.

I prefer a desktop because of the price. Knowing me, I'll probably screw up the laptop carrying it around. Another thing, most laptops I heard have crappy speakers, and I love listening to music. If they have crappy speakers, I can't make music on them either.

Oh, and their more likely to get stolen. I dunno, I like the idea of a beasty desktop than a small laptop. I guess thats the American in me :CHappy:
