What I can't wait to find out is this: how the hell did the main character live that long, and how was he let into 111 after the nukes detonated.

My theory for the first one is that he's an inverse of a particular character from NV;The guy from NV was a human who thought he was a ghoul, when he wasn't. Perhaps the new protag is a ghoul who isn't coping with the change well, and breaks down.

Vaults in the Fallout lore are well documented to have many different treatments to them. So I imagine some sort of cryo, cloning, weird science allows the main character to continue living. As for how s/he is able to make it down into the vault proper, the scene makes it seem impossibly hard, I imagine some sort of shield throws up or maybe the platform emergency drops? Or as I said maybe the character is just a clone of that man or woman with the same memories.

Not too hung up on those details myself since Fallout has always been into the high sci-fi of the 50s.

The Empire vs Stormcloak rebellion/uprising thing at least occupied a space of moral ambiguity (though not really once the game progressed). Something that Bethesda writers could use more of. I just started to replay The Pitt DLC in fallout 3 and was surprised that there were no obvious good/bad choice. Though I felt a bit cheated because there were no obvious evil choice that screwed over everyone else and benefited me greatly. Something I haven't seen in a Bethesda game so far. (Come on blowing up an entire town full of quests and NPCs should give me more than enough money and ammo to last the entire game.)

People keep raving about the Stormcloak/Imperial Civil War and I don't understand why. Do you honestly think it was done well? Because all it did was characterize Nords as racist xenophobes and Imperials as dogmatic zealots. Neither side was 'good', neither side was 'bad', they were just filled with insufferable dickbags. I honestly hope they stay as far away from anything remotely similar to the Skyrim Civil War in FA4.

EDIT: As for how you survive, there are dozens of possibilities in the Fallout universe. Each Vault was designed with a unique sociological experiment in mind (Vault 101 from 3 was never supposed to open, another Vault you find in 3 opened over 100 years too early) so something involving cloning, cryogenic freezing, or other similar preservation system would make perfect sense.

I'm really interested in seeing some variety in the world. While 3 and NV were chock full of things to do the environments were incredibly bland and monotonous. This did not actively detract from my enjoyment of both games but it certainly was something I noticed. Already from what we've seen it seems apparent that the environments found in 4 will be more vibrant and more varied than in any game before it, and that has me excited.

Also, I cannot wait to see what they did to Fenway Park. I'm betting it's the Boston Brotherhood's HQ.

Depends on whether or not an earthquake turned it upside down, and into a fancy bunker for the Brotherhood to hide in.

People normally don't argue about whether it was done well or not. Everyone pretty much agrees that it was done poorly save the fanboys (who would defend Skyrim no matter what anyway). People find it interesting because there was no clear right or wrong answer that added some semblance of real world struggle in a normally good guys beat up bad guys setting.

A better example would be the NCR and Mr. House in the (sadly) less popular F:NV. They both had there pros and cons, but ultimately you had to choose one realizing that neither option was truly perfect.

I just avoided the civil war in Sky rim after going through it for Storm cloaks. If I am drawn into another worthless, uninteresting civil war against my will in F4, I'll pull a Sawyer and do my damndest to make them hate me or defeat them both like I did in New Vegas, where I made it No NCR, No Legion and No House.

I love that they recorded the 1000 most popular names, but as a Wolfgang I feel like I got screwed out of an awesome feature. Unless I'm playing in like... German.

Another thought: The mods that are going to be on the Xbox One and PS4. Do you think they'll exclusively be the ones you can find on Steam? If that's true, do you think they'll be limited to non-copyrighted material? Ever since I saw that power armor gameplay, I knew there was going to be an Iron Man mod. Do you think something like that would make it to consoles?

In any case, I can't wait to establish my Mother Base of elevated platforms and shops over the water.

So, has there been any confirmation on the protagonist voice actor/actress? I've heard rumors that the female player is voiced by Courtenay Taylor, the lady who voiced Jack in Mass Effect 2 and 3. Haven't heard anything about the male player though.

Hoping for a better ending to the main storyline, perhaps without a game-ending cutscene. It was fun deciding to work for NCR/Legion/House/Wildcard, but they were all identical and no one can deny it. Sure, a few missions here and there were unique, but the Hoover Dam in the end was so anti-climatic.

I'm wondering what the Brotherhood will be like in this game, since there are two different kinds. The West Coast, which maintains it's original goal of preserving technology, and then there is the East Coast, which is humanitarian. I know that after they razed The Pitt, they changed over, but that was in DC. What about Boston? It could be interesting...

Also hoping for another NCR type faction. Love the NCR.

I can't wait for DAT COLLECTORS' EDITION THOUGH!!! I don't know what I want to get though. I could get an Xbone and Collectors' Edition (~$450-$475) Or I could actually make my PC good (~$300 in upgrades) and the Collectors' Edition, but then I'm just delaying the inevitability that I WILL eventually be getting an Xbone.

I love Fallout, and Fallout 4 looks like it can be awesome, however they do improve on graphics with every game, it's just the reveal looked like a step in the wrong direction. This is a Post Apocalyptic world, the skies should not be blue, there should be very little grass on the ground.

Some people said that this will take place 20 years after the Bombs dropped, and basing on actual scientific research the skies would almost be pitch black still from the amount of bombs dropped on the entire world. It would in fact take 200 years for the Earth to start to heal. So I hope for the games sake it is still in the current timeline of the 23rd century (2200)

I think just like every other fallout game you will build your character, you won't be the Dad, that'd be sexist, you won't be the son or daughter, that'd be very unoriginal, and you won't be the mom, again sexist. Also they only shot footage of the house where you character now lives, giving you an in-depth look of what was happening right before the bombs dropped, they also showed many more people running to the Vault for safe haven. Plus if you were the family they showed in the trailer it wouldn't make sense unless they froze their habitants after they reached a mature age. That would be a cool idea in which you could be the family, however that might not be the case.

In reality you will most likely be an android built by the Commonwealth (that of which you *design*) sent to find something hidden in Vault 111, discover whatever it is, go haywire or realize that you have to stop it, end up fighting the Commonwealth over whatever it is inside Vault 111 that you discover and have to join forces with BoS or Enclave to save the world. But that's just my take.

They basically confirmed you are the person you made, and we don't know what happened in the vault, other then as it was explained that all Vaults are just large science experiments, and if one can actually clone people and one that preserves people in stasis pods while their mind is in a virtual world, I'm sure Bethesda will think of something.

I also hope we aren't forced to join any faction that is trying to control or free the Wasteland or any of that. I like my anarchy.

Post-Apocalyptic is more than the Australian Outback. An Apocalypse means the end to the world's civilizations, it does not mean the end to the world. And the game takes place 200 years after the bombs dropped, not 20. Your information is dead-wrong and inadvertently explained the foliage and the blue skies.

This. I also much prefer a more colorful world than we got in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Once you've seen one wasteland you've seen a great deal of them, so anything that can be done to try and make this experience a little fresher is always good in my book.

Last of Us did (relatively) vibrant post-apocalyptic landscapes well.

Hence, that is why I said "some people" not me. I think it would be plain stupid to be set 20 years after the apocalypse. 200 years is a far better number.

EDIT*

Also I think 200 years is also a good time to start introducing blue skies. My comments were to put the 20 year theory to bed. I tried to save the Oasis in Fallout 3 so hopefully this means that I actually had an affect on the game.
