[Ashen Kade]

The vibrant blade of Ashen's lightsaber emitted a soft hum as the Knight carefully surveyed his surroundings, noticing the movement of the sand beneath his feet. Taking no risks, he swiftly executed a backward flip, relying on his agility rather than the force, narrowly evading the grasp of the spider-like alien. With a sharp screech, the creature fully emerged from the ground, just a few feet away from where the Knight had landed.

Taking his chance to strike first, Ashen swung his lightsaber in a wide arc in front of him targeting the creature's front legs in an attempt to cripple its mobility followed up by a swift forward thrust toward its sucker. Should it evade Ashen's attacks, however, he would quickly return to a defensive stance, maintaining his blade in a Niman low guard.

 

[Alienor Pom Blodau]

It could have been anything, but it had to be those kinds of spiders. Burrowing up from the sands, making them shift beneath her feet. Linny shifted to try and keep her footing against the shifting ground, as legs upon legs upon legs crawled out from the sands.

Linny tried to keep any form of composure. She loved animals. She loved creatures. She loved life, but even the most devoted fans of the natural world had their limits... and Linny's limits were around the boundary of seven legs. She screamed and lashed out, trying to kick at whichever creatures came near, floundering desperately to keep those suckers away from her skin.

She slipped the satchel off her shoulder and began to swing it wildly, the contents shifting and crashing as they arced in the leather. Without anything else as a weapon, Linny had to desperately resort to other measures.

 

[Aranmir]

In his position on the top of the pile of rocks, Aranmir could see what was attacking them. It was some type of insect that lived under the sand. The Padawan had no idea of how these things were called, but he was sure that they didn’t come out to be their welcome committee.

The Tiefling immediately turned to look at Ashen, concerned with the Kage since he had stayed on the ground. For his relief, the other Jedi was evading the insect’s attacks and preparing to fight them. He wanted to go back here and help, but some of the creatures decided to bring the fight to them.

“Well, I think that they also think that we are snacks.” he said to the toad-like Jedi, before activating his lightsaber. Then he would do like Keck, gather the Force around himself and jumbo over the back of the insect that was coming at his direction. Rather than giving several cuts to it, the Padawan would simply trust the blade through the creature’s head, trying to kill it with as little pain as possible.

[Knight-Bot]

Knight-Bot's metallic body reflected the low light of the planet's sun, although it did not seem to draw any spiders to him.. As the unsettling scuttle of arachnids echoed through his audio receptors, the robot Jedi seized upon a strategic advantage granted by his inorganic nature. With a swift, fluid motion, he swung his pristine white-bladed lightsaber at the insectoid closest to him.

The spiders, drawn to the warmth of life that pulsed within Knight-Bot's organic companions were thankfully ignoring him and gave the robot a strategic advantage. With a steadfast resolve, Knight-Bot ensured that not a single spider dared to approach his vulnerable companions, determined to shield them from harm with the unyielding strength of his mechanical limbs.

 

[Harald av Svendsen]

Bugs... Harald watched as the frog-thing-Jedi @Keck managed to do a graceful hop on the back of one of the sandswimmers and then proceeded to hack it, slicing and dicing the insect into many pieces.

How the whole trip went chaotic so quickly... On another, @Elenath was grappled at first by one, but however with the instinctual swipe, it managed to cut off a front, attacking leg of the sandswimmer, causing the insect to sequel. And with the instinctive force push, it would be sent skidding backwards, releasing the elf-like jedi. Although the elf-Jedi was undeterred and went back for more, it was cutdown courtesy of @Knight-Bot while it was distracted.

@Scorpio Armegedon faces off against the predator spider going after him, as he attempted his slash, the insect would stop it's lightweight and nimble frame, but got the tips of it's front arms cut off for it's troubles. Now deterred, but also enraged, it would let out a violent hiss. It would then contuine it's charge at the Jedi Padawan. At first it would look like it would strike at the padawan's upper/mid body, but it would feitn and then attempt to latch onto Scorpio's legs and quickly attempt to drain his life fluids.

Not long after, @Ashen Kade would manage to swipe off the two front legs of one swimmer before it could successfully strike. Now unbalanced and unable to move gracefully, the forward thrust would hit with precision like aim, ending the creature.

Unfortunately for @Alienor Pom Blodau, although the sandswimmer was getting recoil from the kicks and hits from the satchel, it was not so easily deterred. Venom would foam from it's mouth, and then it would backpedal away and then dive right into the sand below it. And before too long, it would try to grab Alienor's foot from the sand with it's arms to ensnare her.

Similarly, things would not go all as planned for @Aranmir. The insects are not complely mindless. As the padawan goes for the thrust, it would pivot to the right and then move side ways a few steps tot he right. The attack is avoided, and now the insect would attempt to put it's mouth into the chest of the tiefling.

Now back on his feet, Harald would have to deal with an insect pursuing him. He would have his lightsaber in a defensive stance, on guard with a sandswimer that is moving aggressively against him. Harald would have to back pedal. The insect would take swipes at him but every time Harald brings up his lightsaber to guard against it and to incinerate it's attacking limbs, the insect pulls back every time. And the insect is attacking aggressively he can't find and openning.

 

[Elenath]

Nodding in quick, wordless thanks to the robot (@Fantasy Liver), Elenath rushed to the aid of the Padawan with no lightsaber yet. (@Charndley) Seeing the horrendous monstrosity dive beneath the sand again, the seer reached down to touch the ground and open his senses to feel where it would emerge. "I'm with you, Alienor, stay close," he encouraged, waiting for the beast to emerge.

As if he had to guess. Mere seconds later, it emerged once more at her feet. Elenath positioned the butt end of his saberstaff above the ground and plunged it towards the head of the insectoid, dropping to one knee as he did so.

 

[Aranmir]

Aranmir groaned when he saw that his trust with the blade didn’t work. The creature was able to evade his movement, leaving the Padawan to hit only the empty space where it once was. However, the Tiefling wouldn’t be distracted by this failure, since the insect was already prepared to attack him.

Before the creature could put his mouth on him, Aranmir used the Force to increase his speed to evade its mouth, moving to the bug’s left and making it suck an empty space. Once his body was next to that of the insect, he would bring his lightsaber in a downward movement, with the blade cutting through the connection of the head with the rest of the body and severing some of its forelimbs. Then, he would use a Force push to throw what remained from the creature away from him.

[Alienor Pom Blodau]

Flecks of sandswimmer venom splashed on her satchel as Linny used it as a poor bug swatter. It skittered back but slipped beneath the sands, with nothing but a few seconds of churning before it all seemed still again. She stood, confused, staring at the ground and looking around in horror.

Luckily, the Knight (@Vosrik) stepped in to help her. She moved closer to him, within reach of his weapons. Her head flicked from side to side, imagining the creature would spit out at any moment. When it did, Linny felt the surprisingly strong grip around her boots, trying to tug her down and hold her. She tried to stamp down on whatever bit of hairy, disgusting leg she could see, hoping the soles might manage to squish a leg between that and the sands.

When the Knight's saberstaff lit and he plunged it down, Linny froze, bathed in the blue light.

 

[Keck]

Sandswimmer guts sprayed everywhere as Keck went to town on its thorax, felling the creature with his lightsaber blows. This was an absolute blast. He grabbed a huge, crunchy mouthful of the insectoid's body before inspecting the rest of the battlefield. It was a huge colourfest of lightsabers! But some of his new-best-friends looked like they were in trouble. Maybe they ate too much food before the trip? Keck knew it was always a good idea to leave room for snacks that find you on the road in any adventure.

Bounding over to the Knight in charge of the expedition (@The Good Doctor ), Keck whirled in the air before swiping quickly at its supporting rear legs to keep it from fending off Harald's attacks. "HAH!" he shouted, mouth still half-full of food.

 

[Scorpio Armegedon]

Fluids akin to blood would strike across the ground as Scorpio's blade made its subtle mark upon the Beast, the momentary rush of success only ended by the shrilled shake of its form and roar it spewed in anger and anguish. As his heart and breath hastened in unison, Scorpio horrifically watched as the Beast made his next move.

Moments like this were but blurs to outward on looker, but for those involved which included Scorpio as much as the Beast, it could feel infinite within the attack and defense, and almost broil into chaos in each defining portion of the singular moment.

From the moment the Beast began his lunge at Scorpio, Scorpio rose his blade to meet the foe. Smells would be heightened by the moment, and even the visage would be encumbered by whipping dust and the stir of the Force. And yet, there was focus present as well, both intent to survive, both intent upon the destruction of the other. Only fate would decide the outcome. But what Scorpio perceived was not as true as reality.

With the tip of his blade at eye level and both hands upon the pommel, Scorpio's distance was off by the movements of the lunge, the arachnid's legs a surprising miscalculation. Instead of fang to chest, fang came to thigh with menacing pain as the Beast fought to subdue the young Padawan before he could be felled.

Yet, the perseverance of Scorpio outweighed that of the Beast, and even in his wincing moment of pain and weakness, Scorpio managed to lift the blade and drive it toward the beast's brain with intent to end it's existence. For those looking in, the moment was lost behind the fog of war. But for the two that lingered within, this was the defining moment that would determine their fate.

 

[Knight-Bot]

Droids were so rarely thanked for their service, so Knight-Bot returned the nod Elenath gave him enthusiastically. The saber training droid kept his blade on but, given how many Jedi and how few insects were left, calculated that he'd only be getting in the way if he attacked further. Plus, a certain part of his programming wanted these young Jedi to learn to solve their own problems.

Instead, he scanned the corpses of the insects killed, seeing if he could find any useful biological quirks or natural defense techniques that he could add to his databanks

 

[Ashen Kade]

"Gross," Ashen frowned as he gazed at the lifeless body of the creature in front of him, a look of disgust crossing his face. Stepping back cautiously, lightsaber still held tightly in his hand, he found himself surrounded by a graveyard. The lifeless forms of the spider-like aliens were strewn about, the result of the Jedi's collective efforts.

The young knight observed his surroundings, noticing Aranmir (@LouJoVi) still contending with one of the remaining creatures. Seeing his friend in trouble, Ashen reached out and momentarily held the creature in place using the force, hoping to aid the tiefling in finishing it off.

 

[Harald av Svendsen]

Harald was getting increasing frustated as the sandswimmer he was facing with was evading everything he's trying to do. Even as a diplomat, Harald was still a Knight, and it was embarrassing having trouble with a mere bug. But thankfully Keck came in with an assist. As the sandswimmer's rear legs were cut, Harald took the opportunity to make a swipe of his own to cleave through the sandswimmer's body, bisecting it horizontally.

"Thanks for the assist" he said, starting catching his breath after that ordeal.

And with that, all the sandswimmers were defeated. Some of the sand swimming spiders were dispatched easily by the knights, some were more troublesome, some were needed to be taken out in tandem with another, but they were dealt with. "The local wildlife seems rather troublesome." the Sverender quiped, as he deactivated his lightsaber

He would allow the whole group moments to rest up, drink some water, or eat (as he thought, he would force a smile at Keck as he is sure that the lizard/frog/thing Jedi seems to want to eat the gross sand spider swimmers.)

Moments later "Alright, we must press on." he said, before resuming the path they were taking. Glancing at the sun, it isn't getting any cooler at this time.

"Alright, this is it, I think." he said as they came upon a large mesa with a nautral cave entrance. "Here we go" he said. As the inside got darker, he would get out his lightsaber and ignite it, providing a light source. But before too long, there were crystals here and there, with a dim pale-blue radiance to them. Harald would get closer to inspect "Kyberite" he uttered, as would look towards the group. "Do you know what this means Padawans?" he would ask them.

And looking forward, there the cave would then split into three ways, a path to the left, middle, and one going right. "To cover more ground quickly, I think we should split up." he proposed to the group. To Harald's knowledge, that is standard Jedi Protocal. Plus that is what they do in the holoflicks.

[Elenath]

With the sandswimmers now completely destroyed or fled, Elenath held out a hand to help Alienor (@Charndley) up and away from the scene of battle. "Are you alright?" the Jedi Seer asked, extinguishing his indigo saberstaff and replacing it once he could no longer sense any immediate threats. He cast a sideways glance to Harald at the knight's comment on the wildlife. They WERE warned, after all. But by the will of the Force, they had prevailed.

Elenath sat cross-legged on a nearby rock where he could comfortably regain his composure, drink some water capsules, and briefly collect his thoughts while they all took a short rest. Only moments later they were bid onward.

Arriving at their destination, Elenath smiled when he both saw and sensed the presence of Kyberite. It reminded him of his own journey to build his lightsaber. He'd named it Giliath, or "Brightest Star" in the common tongue. Unclipping it from his belt, Elenath ignited the top half of the indigo blade and took the lead down the center path.

 

[Keck]

With the giant-bug threat having been dealt with, Keck continued munching happily away as he stuffed as many "snacks" as he could fit into his bag. It was definitely important to leave some behind for others, so he just took the parts that had already been cut up by lightsabers. Those bits were delightfully crispy and crunchy. He'd make sure to share with his new friends later - that was the non-selfish Jedi thing to do. Yes.

Having made their way to the caves, Keck's eyes immediately widened in reverent awe as Harald's lightsaber lit up the crystalline walls of the cave. The Force was SO COOL. He couldn't wait for the padawans with no lightsabers to experience being chosen by their own crystals for the first time. "Oooooh, pretty!" Keck breathed in wide-eyed fascination, unknowingly wandering away down the pathway to the right before their escapade leader even suggested splitting up.

 

[Scorpio Armegedon]

Fate fell upon the Beast a heavy burden and yet spared Scorpio as the blade drove deep into it's massive cranium and released the beast's jaws from Scorpio's legs as both fell upon the world's sands. Shifting his mind's eyes around, Scorpio's heart felt a heavy burden being lifted as he saw that none had received any damaging injuries unlike him. But even his own only needed a bit of bandaging and a slow tread to pace to carry himself forward.

Setting aside his blade momentarily, he tore cloth from his robes and did so, tying the makeshift bandages tight to prevent blood loss and stood up against the pain as he resheathed his blade and began to follow the others.

When they arrived at the caverns and Harald began to speak, Scorpio took the moment to rest. This was his first outing amongst the Jedi, and he felt a little out of place, so he remained in the rear in silence as he checked upon his wounds. But yet, there was a familiar feeling in the back of his mind within this place, a calling if you will. It was a small call, but large enough that Scorpio managed to feel it's beacon.

 

[Alienor Pom Blodau]

Linny took the offered hand and stood up, feeling her anxiety start to calm once the strange spider-things were dispatched. "Better now, thank you," she said to him, brushing herself off. She gave a moment's thought to her satchel bag, now stained and damaged by sandswimmer venom. It was a gift from her grandfather, who'd no doubt be upset to see that fine leatherwork soiled in such a way. Oh well.

Linny followed the crowd into the cave, eyes narrowing as she tried to make sense of what she could see in the dark. Even with the illumination from Knight Svendsen's lightsaber, she couldn't see all that much. The second that light glinted off those crystals though, Linny felt her excitement grow.

Kyberite!! she thought, after being told. Instantly, her hand raised up as the question was asked, as if she was back in the academy classrooms at home. "Oh! Oh! Knight Svendsen!!" she squeaked, almost jumping off her feet in anticipation. "Kyberite is the mineral from which kyber crystals grow!" Hours of reading from the archives on Starlight Beacon would not be wasted here.

Even as she spoke, she felt it at the periphery of her sensation. Something in the near distance that she couldn't quite explain. It spoke without speaking. It sang without singing. As if something had tuned gently into her frequency just enough to pick up. One of the strangest things that Linny had felt in her short life, for sure. Intrigued and nervous about this sensation, she stepped down the central path, feeling it gently urge her down that way inside the mesa.

 

[Aranmir]

Aranmir felt Ashen use the Force against the insect, immobilizing it. Due to that, the Tiefling finally was able to kill it. He still used a Force push to throw the creature away. It made the headless carcass fly off the rock and land in the sand. The Tiefling felt relieved that this problem came to an end.

The Padawan jumped from the rock and landed next to Ashen (@Scrumppe). “Thanks.” he whispered to the Kage, while touching the other Jedi hand briefly. If the golden-eyed man hadn’t helped him, Aranmir wasn’t sure if his movement to kill the insect would have worked. These things were faster than he had anticipated.

“No, really? I didn’t notice.” Aranmir muttered sarcastically after Knight Svendsen had commented about the wildlife being hostile. He wasn’t the type of being sarcastic, but sometimes it was really necessary. It was pretty obvious that the local fauna wasn’t happy with their presence here.

With the insects dead, Knight Savendsen guided the group toward a cave. With the light of his lightsaber hitting the walls, it got illuminated. The revelation that it was Kyberite made the Tiefling smile. Aranmir nodded in agreement while Alienor explained that it was the mineral that gave origin to Kyber.

Since they needed to split, Aranmir decided to follow the left path.

 

[Ashen Kade]

Ashen breathed a sigh of relief as Aranmir (@LouJoVi) slew the arachnid, and nudged the tiefling with a grin, “You owe me!” before turning to listen to Knight Svendsen. He took a sip of water before they continued to the caves.

When they arrived, Ashen glanced behind only to see one of the padawans (@Mythos) he wasn't familiar with standing in the back; alone and away from everyone else. He arched an eyebrow in curiosity and approached the man with a smile; "Are you doing alright padawan?" Ashen observed as Scorpio tended to his own wounds. "Is it serious?" he pointed at the wound, with concern in his voice.

The knight would wait for his answer before continuing; "You should join the rest of us," he smiled. "Unless you feel more comfortable alone, that's alright too but you're more than welcome to join any of us." He knew some Jedi valued their personal space more than others, and he wasn't going to force Scorpio if he preferred to be alone. With that, he turned and walked down the left, following Aranmir.

 

[Knight-Bot]

Knight-Bot, as a faithful Jedi droid, knew that he wasn't necessarily included in the orders to split up. This was a time for Padawans after all. But, apart from his primary programming as a saber training droid, he'd also had secondary programming dedicated to protecting young Jedi and in his calculations, whichever Padawans followed Keck's path, for good or ill, needed more protecting. As such, he followed the right path as well.
