Childhood... A joyful time of life. If you grew up in Serennian nobility or something. For a young Kage like Ashen however, life was not always as calm as a herd of banthas. In a constant fight for survival, Ashen's family hadn't the luxury of settling down and enjoying the finer aspects of life. Even as a mere child, his mothers insisted he be trained as a Kage warrior, stripping young Ashen of any remaining freedom and childhood he may have enjoyed. Whether the decision to train such a young boy was ill-fated or for his good, its impacts on the child were undeniable. Nevertheless, he excelled at his training proving to be a promising prospective warrior, a quality that sticked with him well into his Jedi training. It was around this time he began showing signs of force sensitivity, though not much was to be done about it. Kage didn't exactly have an effective way to leave Quarzite with the Belugans' tight yoke around every route to get off-world.

Early teens... A time of struggle for Ashen, a capable young warrior hardened by his troubled childhood but his parents did their best to raise the young teen to not only be a capable warrior but also a voice of reason. A fine quality he would learn to cherish as the years go by, but not yet. Not as an audacious early teen. No, he was far too busy blaming his parents for his lack of a childhood, whether it was fair or not he didn't care. He felt betrayed and ignored.

A time of change soon came upending everything in the young Kage's life in unimaginable ways, for better or for worse. Despite his youth and lack of experience he often accompanied more seasoned warriors on routine missions. Though he didn't hold much love for fighting, he was good at it and he knew it too. However, this time it would be different. All it took was a simple yet grave mistake, which led to him being severely beaten and ultimately detained.

Following a prolonged period of captivity and forced labour, a Jedi arrived on Quarzite to investigate rumours of Force-sensitive individuals. He was finally in luck, a Jedi was here, alas he knew the Belugans wouldn't part with a prisoner easily, never mind a Kage. Though difficult, the Jedi was eventually able to "persuade" the Belugans to release Ashen into her custody, a rather interesting story in itself. With that, he was offered a place in the order, a privilege he was in no place to even consider turning down, he only regretted not being able to let his mothers know of his newfound safety.

Padawanhood... A period of change, development and new experiences for most Jedi. The same could easily be said about Ashen, a fresh new recruit in the Jedi Order and a generally good-natured soul with a troubled past. In his initial years as a Jedi, he showed remarkable aptitude in wielding a lightsaber, courtesy of his prior training as a Kage warrior. However, he faced difficulties in articulating his thoughts and emotions, as well as discovering himself beyond the confines of being a warrior. Although his inherent connection to the Force was undeniably impressive, his training in its ways was found to be shaky at best.

158 ABYThe Knight's Path

Ashen Kade, Jedi Knight. It still felt odd for the young Kage to hear those words uttered in the same sentence. It has only been a few days since his Knighting but he was already restless to choose a path for himself to pursue. The Jedi Diplomatic Core seemed like an interesting choice, but he wasn't quite sure if it was really what he wanted to do. There were too many options, most of which didn't even require choosing anything- just going out into the vast galaxy and seeing what's what. It was a daunting thought, out there, alone. Not that he was afraid, no, but the last time he was left alone things didn't exactly turn out well... and he may have accidentally collapsed a building. Whoops. But he was a Knight now, and it was time to choose sooner rather than later.

A lot goes into understanding what Ashen really is like. On the surface, he has an aura of warmth and approachability and despite his outgoing nature it takes more than a few little conversations to unearth the real Ashen - the best friend you always wanted... Maybe?

Strength

Strength has never been one of Ashen's strong points... While he's not weak compared to an average person of his age and size when compared to others of his stature and training he trails behind.
(Skill - Below Average)

Agility

Arguably Ashen's most prominent feature is one inherent to his species. His quick reflexes and agility give him an even footing when faced with opponents with more brute strength than him. It also allows him to attempt feats some might not even consider.
(Skill - High)

Intellect

Thinking. It takes a lot of effort. Not that he's an idiot or anything, he's just nothing special when it comes to his intellect. He also hates the sciences. Period.
(Skill - Meh)

Stamina

Moving too much gets exhausting after a while. Most people would agree and Ashen's one of them. He's just average, nothing to sugarcoat here.
(Skill - Average)

Force Sensitivity

Ashen's force sensitivity. Something to redeem his otherwise average attributes. Well, if only he was as good at using it as his potential the masters keep reminding him about. While he is naturally gifted, his skills at utilising the Force are nothing to brag about.
(Skill - Gifted)

Lightsaber Combat

When it comes to swinging a lightsaber Ashen usually impresses. Shortly after joining the Order, he began to focus exclusively on specialising in Niman, Form VI of lightsaber combat devoting most of his available time in pursuit of mastering it. His training as a former Kage warrior propelled his understanding of melee combat, allowing him to develop a unique adaptation of Form VI. He focused heavily on improving his adaptability and refining his blade work, which differed from the more relaxed approach usually associated with the form. While not quite a master of the form yet, he is a highly skilled practitioner.

Form VI - Skillful

Unarmed Combat

While not the strongest man around, the combination of Ashen's Kage and Jedi training makes him a proficient unarmed combatant. Much like his lightsaber fighting style, while unarmed he prefers to use high agility to dodge incoming blows and outmanoeuvre his opponents while attempting to overwhelm them with flurries of attacks in between.

Skill - Skillful

Blaster Combat

While not completely hopeless, Ashen is far from a good shot. He often prefers not to rely on the use of blasters and has neglected any potential training involving blasters that don't include their deflection, preferring melee weapons as opposed to blasters. His aim is lacklustre at best and pathetic at worst.

Skill - Unskilled

The Force

Ah, the Force. Ashen's greatest frustration. It gets to you, being told you have great potential yet not being able to use it to its fullest effect. Patience, practice, study. That's what they always told him. Well, he's been trying for over six years with not that much to show for it. While he was able to grasp the fundamentals of using the force as one would expect from any fresh Jedi Knight at the very least, his skills are mostly limited to relatively basic applications of the force. Most of his competence comes from a few techniques he's practised to the death so he may hold his own against other force sensitives, however, that is as far as his utilisation of the force reaches. Just enough to get him promoted to Knight. In time he will learn if he finds the patience for it, unlocking his heralded great potential.

Skill - Below Average

Technological Knowhow

Remember what we said about the sciences? Yeah. Big no from Ashe. For the record, he has nothing against tech. But... When it comes to his technological affinity, he prefers to use gadgets, and occasionally break them accidentally. He has absolutely no clue when it comes to repairing anything that's not his lightsaber. He's just fine using the latest tech, maybe even figuring out how to use it on his own, but repairing them? Putting them together?? Understanding them??? Pass.

Skill - Just no.

Piloting

As a Jedi, Ashen received basic training in starship and speeder piloting. While he can handle himself in a cockpit, he lacks expertise in fighter combat and tends to avoid hostile encounters. However, he can manage just fine under normal circumstances.

Skill - Average

Languages

Diplomacy, negotiations, casual conversations without a hassle; being able to understand who you talk to can be a great first step. Truthfully, Ashen never thought he'd hold an interest in languages. That was until he developed a liking for diplomacy and negotiation, at which point he dove into the vast ocean of galactic languages. Of course, he's already been able to speak Kage and Galactic Basic fluently, and on top of this over the years he was able to pick up Huttese and Ryl as well as being able to understand Shyriiwook. While he is not quite a polyglot having chosen to divert his attention to his lightsaber combat training, he hopes to expand his linguistic knowledge further in the coming years.
