Galactic Republic / Hutt Empire Political Debates

Myself and numerous other members who are involved in the political section of the RP (The Senate and the Hutt High Council) have been discussing making the future political RP threads a part of the story, having the rulings and laws actually affect our characters in other threads. Possibly creating minor trade and travel agreements with the Hutts and having whole threads dedicated to political debates, meetings between the empire and republic, Calling Senate to order, and even underground illegal activities involving politicians. Exposing scandals and overturning politicians if the RP calls for it.

We're just not sure how to go about all this if we don't have any active Hutt characters and there are only a few members who have active Senate characters.

Crunchy and I have discussed bringing up several ideas the next time Senate is called, but we're waiting for the roster to be edited and finished beforehand. Also, with the hopes that at least 4-5 people will be online when Senate is in session. To really have the political section of this RP kick off and be active, we need a lot of the major senators to be dedicated and active, specifically the core planets involved in the story's plot and the supreme chancellor, who are all pretty active as it is, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I'd probably need to know a little more before the Hutts go in on it. As of now our Council is flatlining, and I don't have time to join more threads with Tusa, so anything too extensive and I'd need to figure something out.

Also, we'd need to find common ground to talk about, and the state of things would need to shift a little. As of now things are obviously a little tense- with hundreds of thousands of deaths, a bounty on every senator/the Chancellor, and a complete blockade against Hutt Space.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for an additional dynamic, but it'd be a good amount of work that I may not be able to fulfill.

The whole council is dying? :CDumb

I think we discussed holding a diplomatic summit on Naboo, to establish Republic-Hutt trade roots on the Outer Rim too.

At the moment, we need active Hutt players. After that, we need the Senate to finalize its members and get organized. When Senate is called, I'll be making a motion to meet with the Hutts and establish a designated Neutral Ground Trade and Travel Routes between the Outer Rim planets, relatively between the core planets and Hutt space. Neutral Ground will not be enforced by either of the parties' military forces, nor will it be policed by any forces other than the planetary militia and designated city police forces. This will lead to a lot of smuggling of illegal weaponry and livestock (slave trade), however it will open up communication between the parties and hopefully lead to further agreements and treaties. It will be a devastating blow to rate of crime in the Outer Rim, but it might affect the war in a greater way.

Depending on whether it is actually necessary, I may be willing to create a Hutt council member. That is of course if I understand correctly that this is part of Santoro's problem.

I would create a Hutt diplomat, however my Senator character will most likely be a major player in this specific political issue. It would be pretty redundant to play both sides of the war.

This is something that the affected faction leaders should be pestered about, first and foremost.

Faction leaders have been notified about this idea, yes, but we also wanted to make a public statement to other members to advertise it and get others interested in the first place, trying to kick it off on a good start.

TBH I don't see senators or Hutts willing to cooperate. That's why there is a conflict.

It'd be nice to see a diplomatic end to this war. :CHappy

Actually I think it'd be interesting if there was some minimal cooperation via trade agreements and what not. Both sides need to get goods and services in and out of the Outer Rim, so it would be interesting of the Hutt and Republic political forces decided to agree to those sorts of things as the war was raging on.

Plus it gives a lot of room for deception, and those trade routes that can be agreed upon could be used to move military equipment in secret, etc.

I like this idea.

How many Hutt characters do we currently have that have to do with the Hutt High Council?
