Within the confines of the temple another class was about to start. This one however would be a little different as several Jedi with the rank of Master were within the room. Holding the class which would focus on lightsaber combat was Guhoo Armstrong, the recently promoted Battle Master of the New Jedi Order. The blond haired man heard from some passing padawans that his class had attracted some attention so he hoped to see a good number of students join the class, for it could only benefit them.

One thing that would no doubt be different about this class was the fact that several medical droids were already on stand-by and that all participants were told to come wearing their respective battle gear, whether that was heavy armor of the traditional Jedi robe it mattered not to the Battle Master. Today certain weaknesses would be revealed and some people would be sent back to the drawing board to correct upon said weaknesses, and that was Guhoo's idea behind this class. Wearing a heavy looking battle armor the Jedi Master had his arms crossed while waiting on everyone to arrive.

[OOC: Introduction round everyone. Those that post will be matched up in character.]

Since his recent return from Ilum, Saul took a small amount of pleasure with every step. The heavy thud that had plagued his hip was replaced by a pleasant light tap. The bulky lightsaber he had used to replace his damaged blade on that ice ball of a planet had itself been replaced. Measuring exactly ten inches in length and with a casing made entirely out of composite materials, the new hilt was remarkably light, a perfect complement to his Ataru style. The blade itself also complemented his style better, the thinner Cyan beam created noticeably less momentum when swung, allowing for quicker redirections.

Saul walked into the room in his standard equipment. A light grey t-shirt worn under an unzipped black leather flight jacket, with matching black leather pants and boots. He positioned himself to face Master Armstrong, and made a quick bow, addressing him and the other masters in the room. With the formalities out of the way, Saul made his way to the student area and awaited the arrival of the other students.

Minion had just come from his morning practices with his new weapon, Waymaker. The weapon itself was force imbued durasteel, thanks to his opponent Rathru, and also had a blue Rubat crystal inside of it. He had began to grow stronger with his heartlance. Strapped onto the belt of his black armor was his lightsaber. Almost all of it was made on his home world Kashyyyk and found their also.

Today he would be joining in a class of lightsaber dueling. A very needed practice for Minion. So he joined in hoping that his powers would be good bough against his mighty opponent Rathru. Once he had walked through the door he bowed to the new Battlemaster, Guhoo. Hopefully he lasts longer than the other Battlemasters that had fallen before him. It would be a shame of a death of such a mighty warrior.

Jedi Master Tytos had been idle for far too long. One of his greatest weaknesses seemed to be that he often times lost himself in his pursuit of martial prowess, to the point that the studying and training blocked out everything else; he could not let himself forget why it was he had dedicated so many years of his life to the deadly arts.

And so, in an effort to bring himself off the shelf and back into the thick of the action with his fellow Jedi, Tytos had volunteered to assist the new Battlemaster with this training session. Tytos, like most Noghri, was stoic and restrained at the best of times, but if pressed he would have to admit he was actually looking forward to this class. Not only would it allow him a chance to guage the upcoming crop of warriors that were being raised in the temple, it may also allow him to provide some advice. And who could tell whether a single piece of advice may be enough to save these young Jedi once they entered the true field of battle and were blooded the first time.

~~~
Tytos entered the training area, his Wan-Shen tapping the ground in step next to him, looking like a simple walking stick...if one ignored the razor sharp blade on the end. Though Tytos was perfectly capable of fighting with a lightsaber - more capable than most, in truth - his preferred weapon was his Wan-Shen, and he hoped that just having it with him today would teach these young ones an important lesson: not all of their enemies would wield lightsabers.
Like the Battlemaster Guhoo, whom Tytos was walking towards, the smaller Noghri was also dressed in his typical combat dress. In Tytos' case, however, this involved nothing approaching typical Jedi battle armor. Instead, he wore simple clothing (leggings, sleeveless vest, arm/hand wraps) which allowed him the greatest degree of movement and flexibility he could muster. Without uttering a single word, he and the Battlemaster would be offering their students today yet another lesson in the contrasting and differing ways one could approach a battle.
Once Tytos reached Guhoo, the small semi-saurian Jedi Master gripped his Wan-Shen horizontally in both hands and bowed low, seeming almost to fold himself over the shaft.
"Battlemaster."
Tytos' low voice sounded like gravel crunching under foot, yet even had he been gifted with the voice of a poet he would have been unlikely to offer more than his simple greeting. He was a being of action, not words.
The assassin, Narrah Sunce, had arrived on Tython the night before, excited for what the day would bring. It was her first time on the planet, and it was magnificently beautiful. She had thoroughly enjoyed the little pocket of nature that surrounded the Temple on Empress Teta, but here – it was all around. Memories of her times running barefoot through the soft grass, flooded back to her. It was the first time that she had had time to enjoy something. Her previous life had been spent either working or training, with no time for entertainment or exploration. The Lorrdian considered removing her boots, and taking the time to enjoy the nature of Tython, but time was not on her side. Class was beginning soon, and it was a topic that definitely interested her.
As Narrah made her way through the Temple, towards the training room, she noticed the mixed reviews that her attire seemed to be garnering. It was these types of reactions that she rather enjoyed. It meant that what she was wearing was distracting, and that was part if her training; to distract your target from the real threat. The Lorrdian wore a skintight, purple unitard; made from a stretchy suede and leather, which seemed to cover much less than it did not. Her hip-high boots, which matched the color theme, had a ¾ inch heel; to allow for maximum combat efficiency and style. A purple hood covered her head with tufts of violet colored hair protruding from the opening. There was red makeup surrounding her eyes, designed to protect her from glare and distract from her facial features. On her left wrist, Narrah’s training saber was clasped; using two metal bands that only responded to her biometric signature. It was her favorite place to keep weapons. It allowed for her first strike to come from a multitude of areas and angles, which the standard hip location restricted.
The Lorrdian entered the training room and scanned the crowd; that seemed to already be forming. She recognized the two instructors from the profiles that she procured; much in the same way that she had done her Master. The other combatants in the room, she assumed were student – like herself. Because Master Novan had been more conforming to her, instead of correcting her errors, Narrah still didn’t have a since of Jedi protocol. She simply walked up to each instructor, in turn, and introduced herself.
”Hi Guhoo, I’m Narrah Sunce.” she said, extending her arm to shake the large man’s hand.
”Greetings Tytos; Narrah Sunce” she repeated, turning to the Noghri and extending her hand toward him as well.
"Greetings lord battlemaster"
Rathru Spawnslayer son of Ethru and newly appointed knight of the Jedi order bowed low to Guhoo. This was the first time he had met the figure in person. Though he was not of great statue he did not disappoint. The battlemaster was at his prime and positively pulsed with the force. Rathru also could not deny that he had a slight jealousy of the masters beard as he himself would not be able to grow one of his own for at least another 200 years. Sometimes longevity could be a curse.
Rathru wound not however be duelling with a lightsaber however. The towering golden warrior in fact highly disliked the near weightless sabres instead preferring the weight of the massive forceblade-Carnwennan that was hung on his back currently. But even this was not what he was here today to practice. It was unarmed combat he was here to test.
Minion was not hard to spot amongst the other participants. Most Wookies would simply be overpowered in an hand to hand combat against a Maelibus but Minion was an exception. Augamented with cybernetics and enhanced chemically he could exert remarkable amounts of physical strength and take a intense sum of punishment. Combined with experience in the arena this gave him a good training counterpart to Rathru's 'hunts' - one of which the Wookie had been on himself.
Rahthru nodded respectfully to his opponent.
"Let us both uphold the pride and honour of the order"
Della Frey was a pint-sized runt, but that didn't mean she didn't have tricks up her sleeve. Her afternoon had been spent preparing herself for her new class. It was a sparring class. She gave a sigh as she gathered an assortment of spicy powders and vials of hotsauce. How long had she last sparred with her Master, Sebastian? Certainly there would be some memories that would occur to her.
The warmth of the Phoenix was felt against her hip. The orange blade was the favorite of Sebastian and Della could feel his presence within it. Della was not quite the stone wall of defense as he was, but she was slippery and fought dirty. To a Snamreg, there was fewer better ways to demonstrate wit and skill than with cheating. Della may have been filled with the good intentions of a noble Jedi, but she was an underhanded fighter who had no problem spitting, biting, scratching, and swinging groin shots.
She looked unformidable as she approached the class. She spied Rathru and gave him a wink. She looked quite small and had a deer-like way of movement as she entered.
"Della Frey." She said warmly and gently.
Only a nod was offered to the Battle Master, which she had met long before he had been promoted so highly, and Tytos. She knew the latter only by name, he being of the same prestige as she herself seemed to be gaining. She didn't think of herself in such a way, fame being something she shied away from. Indeed, her informal way of interacting with others suggested she fought this with every word and action she took. Despite this futile attempt on her part, she was just as well-known as Tytos was. Of course, this was for different reasons. Indeed, the two could not be any more different when it came to combat.
She appreciated his knowledge and prowess, of course, but did not question her own path and tactics. She was glad to see Della Frey, a smirk on her lips as she knew the young girl's preferences relatively well. There was another female, not quite as diminutive as Della, that was wearing hardly anything. This was off-setting, but she had been witness to Skhai's form, so it wasn't quite the shock it might have been otherwise.
The Togruta found it interesting that she was not the most diminutive figure in the room, but knew she was one of the most outmatched in blade combat. It had been quite some time since her training session with Sebastian and she needed to, once again, brush up on her skills. She had just gained a new Apprentice, this one being similar to her former ones; adamant about learning the ways of lightsaber combat. As such, she needed to be as useful as she could in this. While still not able to teach him as he might have wanted, she needed to be able to challenge him. Even more, she wished to get a bit of exercise in.
Wearing her lighter robes, forsaking her cloak, she stood in the back waiting for whatever it was the Battle Master would start with. Her hands were crossed under her chest and a hilt hung from her left hip as she observed the others around her in the arena.
After several Jedi had entered, the doors parted once more and a green reptilian walked in, treading confidently. After moving into a position suitable for his social stature in the room, he took a deep bow. "Kor-Sha-Di, Masters. I am honored to participate today." His voice is even and not too loud or too quiet, giving him the air of a cool confidence. Although he has a piercing chain on the side of his head, showing his Padawan status, a lightsaber battle scar on his upper thigh shows that he is no green apprentice. Two lightsabers hang from his belt, and he has shown in battle dress, which consists only of his utility belt. Muscles ripple throughout his body, and although smaller then the average human, he cannot be treated as inferior due to his obvious physical composition. His yellow eyes gleam in anticipation, and his thick, muscular tail wags slightly in excitement.
The more attuned masters can sense the Padawan's nerves at the contest, but they will also note a steely determination. Without the threat of injury or death, Kor intends to put his all into his contest, and make an impression on the esteemed Masters present. He knows that the Padawan he is paired against will not be able to get any easy win on him, and he fully expects a victory from himself. He is also eager to observe the bladework of the experienced Jedi present. This opportunity was worth a thousand hours studying holorecordings in the library, or sparring with training droids. He was eager to test himself, and also expected better results coming from recent combat experience dealing a Sith Acolyte and the peace of mind granted by soothing meditation with his Master.
He carefully scanned the room, taking brief glances at each being present, identifying each in his mind. A human male padawan. The famed Noghri Jedi Master Tytos. Kor gave him a slight bow with his head when his eyes met his. A human female Padawan, and an attractive girl if he was correct in his study of human mating preferences. A strange, scaly being of a species Kor did not know. No distinctive markings indicated status, so perhaps a Knight or Master. A short female humanoid. Master Vashee. Kor knew her only by reputation. Another slight head nod to her. And finally the esteemed and famed Battlemaster himself. Kor gave another bow to him.
The pleasantries done, Kor sat back to observe what would transpire next. Both human Padawans were possible matches, and Kor wondered how skilled they were. Most Padawans were caught off guard by dual wield, and he hoped his use of Jar'kai would surprise them and give them an advantage. Perhaps his match wasn't even here yet. He waited for instructions, and closed his yellow eyes to keep his mind clear and his body calm.
Arkantos had returned home. Well, as close as a home he could get with the Jedi Order. The Temple on Tython was were he stayed during his tenure as an Initiate and Padawan, and he had some fond memories of the time, but since his rise to a Knight, he hadn't spent any time at all there. But today, that changed. He paced through the familiar halls he once walked through for classes so many years ago. He could only help but smile as the new generation of Jedi learners walked the halls. It seemed the Battlemaster himself, Gujo Armstrong was holding a very well-advertised class, one Arkantos couldn't pass up. He looked at it from simply a learning experience. While Arkantos had no aspirations in becoming the best duelist of his time, he did seek to become a much better duelist than he currently was. He had a natural talent for it, but his aspirations were in other matters, most namely his curiosity of the Galaxy and the Force, and the preservation of the Order, but that didn't mean he shouldn't expand on his skills. And it wasn't like becoming better didn't help in his aspirations. And so here he was.
Making his way into the classroom, Arkantos saw an curious number of Jedi already in the room. He had brought his usual Jedi attire, and his very normal green lightsaber blade. He had no time really to improve upon the basic lightsaber yet, though he had no intentions of working on modifying it yet, it served him well so far. As he walked directly through the room to meet with the Battlemaster, it seemed he was late, one of the few times this happened, but he was surprised to see who was in there. He didn't say a word, simply walked up to the man holding the class, the Battlemaster, and bowed. "Master." he said solemnly, raising himself up with a smile on his face. Arkantos sort of hated the formality of having to address with a bow, but understood the importance in it, and why he never complained about it. He acknowledged the other Jedi, one he was quite well aware of, though he had never met himself. The rest of the room was a medley of species, with the humans being outnumbered by non-humans. It was actually a pleasant sight to see, as he knew every species in the galaxy could, and did have different ways of fighting, and to be able to experience all these Jedi try out their skills would be a great blessing to him.
But, what had originally caught his attention, was his own Master. He nodded to the rest of the Jedi he saw, nodding his head to each of them to acknowledge their presence but as he turned to look at his old Master his smile was from ear to ear, as he made his way directly to his Master. Though they didn't spend as much time as he intended to, Arkantos did see Ashara Vashee as a mentor, and even a mother, one who was willing to share her teachings with him. One that molded him into the Jedi he was today. He bowed low, and quick, and raised himself up. "Master, what an infinitely gratifying feeling it is to see you here. Partly because I didn't expect to see you here." he said with a smirk. Referring to her path as a Consular, he knew his Master was quite competent with the saber, though she focused her time more on teaching and learning the mysteries of the Force. Arkantos would of loved to catch up, but knew this training room wouldn't be the best of places. Though after, he'd take the opportunity to ask his Master to meet with him after and to allow them to catch up.
Jake had heard about this very uncommon class in the corridors as some younger padawans and apprentices were talking about it. A class not only for padawans, but for the knights, and masters included, led by the battlemaster himself. Jake did not believe it at first, but as he heard about more and more jedi joining the session, including his own master, adrenalin began to pump through his body. He had to be a part of this. He knew he would probably be the only padawan in the room, and that he would be hoplessly underestimated, but he would proove himself. But most importantly, he would learn, and this, was an opportunity far too rare these days.
He entered the room to find half a dozen jedi already present. He knew all of them. He bowed, greeting everybody: " Greetings Masters, I hope I'm not too late for the fun. "
He took off his poncho, and folded it with great care, putting it on a nearby bench. Both of his lightsabers where ready for action, hanging from his belt. As he spotted the medical droids all around the room, he knew that there would be no holding back, and that one mistake would send him straight to the medbay. Considering the amount of masters in the room, chances were high... But underestimating him would be a mistake. He was a Padawan, but in a case like this, titles were overruled by actions.
Raleigh was walking in a quickened pace from the fact that he was probably late for a training exercise where the battle master was hosting a combat class. Always up for training and honing his abilities, Raleigh was looking forward to polish off the ol’ rust from combat. Classes like this where becoming more and more vital as dark times crept across the galaxy that threatened the lives of all of the alliance, especially those of the jedi. The jedi being the eternal foes of the sith and the favorite scapegoat and excuse for mass murder for the mandalorians, the jedi where surprisingly the bigger targets.
Walking into the class in a slight hurry, Raleigh bowed to every one wile finding his own place in the seemingly crowded class “good day to everyone and greetings” Raleigh said as he took a deep breath. Looking around the room to see such a great collection of talented jedi and powerful masters, Raleigh was glad to see the chance to duel against many different opponents and learn from the confrontations. Waiting for the class to begin and be paired with someone Raleigh sat down to meditate and center himself so that he could be ready and empty from all distractions. He did wander if he would be allowed to use everything in his disposal in the duels.
Atlatean was a glutton for knowledge. Perhaps it was natural, perhaps something else. But as it manifested, the young Padawan took upon himself any class he could find, was willing to be taught by any teacher who would share their knowledge. At times, the wisdom he sought was in the form of philosophy, of understanding Ashla, the nature and existence of the Light Side of the Force, as were the ways of the Archivists. At other times, it was application of the Force itself, learning and knowing how to manifest the energy that binds all life unto the universe around him, as were the ways of the Sages. And then, still there was the training that came in the form of grace and finesse, realized through the art of combat, through the education embodied in the lightsaber forms and styles - the ways of the Guardians. And it was that path of learning that Atlatean sought this day. Only this day, the Padawan was but one of many.
By the time he'd arrived, several Jedi Knights had already assembled for the class. Some were Padawans, as was he - those most earnest and eager to learn. Other were Knights, the living paragons of the Jedi Order itself. And still a select few were the teachers. The instructors. The Jedi Masters, those who passed on what they had learned to the newer generations that would one day take their place among the Order's leaders. It was a position as honorable as one could achieve, highly respected but also one not to be taken lightly.
"Padawan Atlatean of the House of Taldarus," he said, approaching the Jedi Battlemaster as he bowed his upper body modestly. All of Alderaanian descent were trained to uphold personal honor and formality, no matter the setting, and Atlatean was no exception when he spoke.
"It is my honor to learn from you, Master."
OoC: Yo sorry for the delays. It's all my fault, not Gaja's. Typing this up at work >.<
The door burst open, followed by a blur as a fashionably late student zoomed into view. Not having stopped properly, she skidded across the floor and crashed directly into Atlatean with enough force to send them both waddling over. After a moment, she peeled herself out of the jumbled mess, blinking her eyes in slight panic. She wiped the smudge of dirt off her face and cleared her throat, attempting to act as if she hadn't just caused an awkward scene. Her face was tomato red as she nodded towards Guhoo.
"Sorry..for late.. master."
She was hoping her pathetic Basic wouldn't have to make an appearance, but now it was made obvious to the entire class. She nervously peered around at everyone, silently mouthing an apology to Atlatean as well. Being in a crowded room with so many non-wookiee was terrifying.
Crossing his arms as he watched the people slowly come in Guhoo smiled. "Looks promising..." So far it indeed looked good as the Jedi thought about a lightsaber that was attached to his belt. Several were attached to his belt but the one he thought of wasn't exactly his... But he didn't have much time to think about that thing in particular as he was greeted by a fellow Jedi, and with a polite smile and a nod of his head the man greeted Padawan Perth before he saw the young man walk over in to the student area.
Who appeared next however certainly stood out from the pack, a Wookie Jedi. At the sight Guhoo greeted the creature that joined the fray. Certainly stood out from the rest of the pack Guhoo noted as he saw another interesting figure. Jedi Master Tytos had entered the area, and what a menacing sight he was! Observing him the Battle Master was thankful that he received the support from the Noghri, with this many people he could certainly use it. While they met only recently the blond haired human actually liked Tytos for the man wasn't that unlike himself. Both were in a way obssessed with martial arts and with chasing something that only they knew. "Master Tytos."
That the Noghri said only one word meant little to the human because he said much much more with his actual greeting, which was the bow, one that Guhoo replicated, though he didn't quite attempt to fold himself like Tytos did, but the message was the same nonetheless. The human thanked him and extended his respect to the fellow Jedi and Warrior. From there on the two of them stood side by side as more people joined in.
The next one was perhaps the most provoking one! If she had white hair Guhoo might have mistaken her for an Echani, a slutty Echani but one nonetheless. He wouldn't have exactly agreed with the high heels allowing maximum combat efficiency, though he couldn't really argue about the style as Narrah certainly received reactions and drew attention to herself. And Guhoo did say that everyone was to come wearing their combat gear, so he would probably see if the heels helped in combat or not. What he did like though was that the barely clad Padawan offered to shake his hand, that was more along the lines of how Guhoo liked to meet people and so with a bit of a smirk on his face the man stepped forward and offered his hand to the woman. "It's pleasure."
And as the woman moved on to greet Tytos Guhoo's eyebrow was raised as another giant joined them for the lesson. And Rathru didn't waste any time as he greeted the Battle Master with a thunderous voice, to which Guhoo only smiled as he returned his bow as well. He was not aware that the massive creature was in fact a little jealous of his beard, though secretly the man was quite proud of it as well. "Greetings Rathru." The man said before seeing the two physically biggest individuals square of. "Yeah... I'll pair up those two..." It wasn't that he really had any other option, both Minion and Rathru were now Knights and possessed far too much physical strength to be matched against Padawans without the risk of serious injury remaining.
But the list of students for this class didn't end there! Because from the mountain that was Rathru a 5'2'' tall Snamreg followed. Jedi Knight Della Frey, Guhoo had heard of her. Quite the contrast comparing to the entry before her, but one that the Jedi Master welcomed nonetheless. Greeting her with a nod of his head as well he saw a familiar figure enter in Jedi Master and future Councilor Ashara Vashee. It was good to see another master join the class. It showed that even masters weren't above learning new skills, or brushing up on old ones.
By now Guhoo was glad that he requested one of the biggest training chambers, or was it the biggest, for this class because had he not done that he would have probably had to break the class in to smaller groups. By now he wasn't really surprised as another reptilian Jedi joined them. Looked like a cousin of Tytos if someone tried to be funny! Gesturing with his hand for Kor-Sha-Di to join the others Guhoo welcomed the padawan to the group and went over the current match ups in his head... He certainly was looking forward to seeing a fellow Jar'Kai user join the class, for Guhoo started out with two lightsabers though he now adjusted between one and two blades depending on the situation.
Still no Tali though...
Knight Arkantos was next however. While the Jedi Knight may have seen himself as being late Guhoo did not, he was right on time as far as the Battle Master was concerned. He'd heard of the man, having seen his picture and file when he studied the members of the Order, though sadly they haven't had the pleasure to meet until now. Certainly the two of them would have gotten along well, at least Guhoo figured from what he heard of the man as he saw him greet Master Vashee. He noted how well respected the Togrutan Jedi Master was and it made him happy that more people saw her in the same light he did.
Three more human males joined the party, all three of them entering close to one another. Two padawans and a Knight. Guhoo wasn't familiar with any one of them though the last one would certainly remain in his memory for a while for he was the one who got some Tali love a moment later. Before the jungle girl made her appearance however Padawan Taldarus and Armstrong exchanged bows of respect. "And it is an honor to teach." The man replied with a polite smile and that was when it happened!
The bundle of energy that was Tali came almost flying in to the room, crashing with full force in to the polite young man and while most would probably be surprised and shocked by this kind of behavior Guhoo was not. He actually found it really funny, so much in fact that he had to hold back the laughter. His super-awesome cute Padawan had finally arrived!
As Tali apologized the face of the Battle Master showed the man smiling and offering her a wink, telling her that it was alright. Gesturing to the two to stand up the blond haired bearded warrior made several steps forward. Standing his hands were put in line with his body as he offered a deep bow to everyone in the room.
"Greetings and welcome." The man that held the rank of Battle Master spoke for everyone to hear. "Thank you all. You honor me with your presence." The man looked at the impressive group that had come together for this class that he arranged...
"So let's get right to it. Today we'll be doing a little test in the form of sparring to see how you all behave under pressure against an opponent of similar skill. Master Tytos I'm sure you are all familiar with. He will be assisting me today in helping you." He gestured towards the intimidating Jedi Master to his right. Returning his hand to his body he barely made a stop before looking at each of them individually. "The goal of this lesson isn't just victory but also uncovering your own weaknesses and growth. That is why I have asked that you all come here in your battle gear. That way we can simulate real life battle conditions a bit better. You will now be matched up with your partner and given a section of the chamber to spar in. You are not allowed to do two things, use any lethal force techniques and use Lightsabers that are not set for training."
While there were some people who disliked training with training sabers because they weren't "real enough" Guhoo could only look at those dummies and shake his head laughing. "That will do until someone loses a limb or died..." It was common sense and not a method suited for such a class so the Battle Master made it crystal clear, training sabers, full battle gear and force powers. "In order to be able to grow I must insist that none of you hold back against your opponent. Even if someone gets injured we have medical droids standing by... Now."
He started walking a bit closer towards the group and observed the various creatures before pointing at the two biggest guys in there. "Minion and Rathru. You two will be doing unarmed combat there." Pointing at one part of the giant room Guhoo figured he'd get the two big boys out of the way first before focusing on the other people present.
"Saul Perth and Jake Denoda. Over there." That was four... Looking at Tali, the Battle Master turned his gaze away for a second and looked at one of the beings that, to him, stood out the most, not counting Narrah because well she always stood out. "Kor-Sha-Di and Atlatean Taldarus." He didn't name ranks for a reason, he didn't want the participants to see and think of their opponents as Padawans, Knights or Masters. Regardless of skill level they were all human, well most of them were and that was how they had to be looked at as well. Every single opponent could be beaten no matter how powerful, fast or skilled he appeared. But no one strong could be defeated on luck alone, the work had to be put in first and this was where they would do just that.
Turning towards his own padawan Guhoo took from his belt a lightsaber and gave it to Tali. Her own lightsaber. "Tali Arriykam and Narrah Sunce." Whatever it was that she had used for training until now wouldn't be used any longer, for the blond haired human had created this little present for her. But now things were getting tricky. With eight out of the twelve people set in groups and sent to various spots in the chamber to await the start of the first round Guhoo turned towards the four people left.
The one that presented the most difficult person to place was surprisingly enough Ashara. She was a Jedi Master, and while she perhaps wasn't a Guardian like the Battle Master, Guhoo had been told that she wasn't to be underestimated. Besides her force abilities were more than likely more advanced than his own so the one who got matched up with her would certainly have a difficult time. Deciding to give the Togruta a challenge the Battle Master would usually have volunteered himself, but in this setting he could really because he and Tytos had to watch everyone so that they could point out their mistakes later on, so he looked at her sparring partner. "Arkantos Rajax and Ashara Vashee." He wasn't exactly sure what would happen here but he figured they would find out soon enough.
"Which leaves us with. Della Frey and Raleigh." With the the muscular man turned around and walked back to stand beside Tytos, giving everyone a few moments to ready themselves. "Assume that your opponent has a fully capable lightsaber as that is how we will look at you. Don't hold back..."
And as if thunder struck his voice rang out. "Begin!" Deep inside he was looking forward to this, wanting to see what these men and women had in them. This would show what they had to work with and needless to say that Guhoo was quite excited about some of these match ups... For now though all he and Master Tytos could do, was to watch and look at what the Jedi did in combat and possibly comment on it...
No posting order. Each RPer has 4 posts at this point before the end of their round will be called. Have fun!
Alright, let's rock! :bitchez I've been waiting to get a duel in here, just to see if my style transfers over to these forums without any trouble. Just slap me Gaja if I do something I shouldn't, please.
"Saul Perth and Jake Denoda. Over there."
The area the Battle Master had gestured to was nothing special, just a reasonably sized square on the floor, marked out by maroon paint. Still, Saul was content with the patch of floor. While it didn't have multiple levels to allow him the greatest use of his agility, it's size gave him plenty of space to move around, which was all he could reasonably ask.
Saul made it to the dueling area first and decided to run through a few extra minor stretches as Jake approached, careful to not show his full range of motion. He studied his opponent as he drew closer. Two lightsabers, this'll be interesting. I wonder if he'll use them both, or try to catch me off guard and draw the second mid duel... Saul let his mind flow over the more common dual saber styles, mentally practicing a few basic counters and combinations to exploit the weaknesses of dual blades. The technical aspects of dueling had always fascinated him and he could lose himself for hours reading files on combat styles and alternate stances. Right now, in these few moments before a duel analyzing his opponent, Saul was in his prime.
His mental rehearsal was cut short by Jake's entrance into the dueling area. Saul offered a slight bow and ignited his lightsaber, set to a power level suited for training of course. When his opponent seemed ready enough, he bent his knees slightly and took his opening stance. He decided to stick to his favorite stance, a single right handed high "guard", held behind the head and over the shoulder. His left foot was forward, and his body angled accordingly, with his left hand held ready, fingers slightly flexed.
Arkantos' grin couldn't be wider. Arkantos looked at the outline of his Master. Not saying a single word, he walked to the direction of his fighting space, and unclipped his saber instantly and placed it in the training saber mode, as he dialed down the power on his hilt. He placed it at his feet, as he reached down on one knee to tie his boots. He stayed in the kneeling position for a few moments. In this short time, he inhaled deeply, exhaling, and clearing his mind. His mind, body, and soul would be wholly focused on this sparring session. While he had sparred with his Master before, he knew her style of fighting, Arkantos himself had changed his style dramatically. He had been working on his own style of combat, one that fixed all the shortcomings of his primary style, Djem So, but also one full of a total offense. He would showcase it for his opponent today, which happened to be his Master.
This new style relied heavily on his physical strength, one he kept on top form, and also fast footwork, footwork he had trained to perfection. Though behind it all, it relied on his hands. Fast hands. He had cleared his head, knowing what he would do. He stood up, clearing his throat, and bowed low to his old Master. He kept his quiet and focused composure, looking at the direction of his Master. He knew his Master's style of fighting, and her first move would probably be to create distance between them, and keep on a defensive. So he'd have to compensate for this, by moving closer, and start an onslaught. He threw his hilt in the air, as it flung above his Master. He took a running start, "1...2...3..." he thought in his head, as he counted his steps, suddenly he jumped, letting the Force lift his legs, and he pushed himself high in the air. He had reached his hilt, which had almost reached its apex in the air, gripping it, releasing the snap-hiss to familiar with all Lightsabers, the green beam escaped its metal casing, and he went to reach for his Master's head.
He missed. His strike went right between the space of her montrals. No matter, as he didn't expect his first strike to land, quite the contrary, he needed something as a distraction, for a second at least. He landed behind her. He did a quick 360-turn, striking her light ribcage from his own left side, but she should went to block his first move. It was to be expected, she was a Master of Defense, and he knew it well. But, as she blocked his move, he quickly sent his other arm to grab the hilt, and quickly spun back again, this time striking her right side, bringing with him more power behind the strike. This one was a bit harder to block, but his old Master moved to block the second strike. though was a bit taken with Arkantos' natural strength. Surprising, but Arkantos couldn't spare her any time, none at all. He turned back around, but this time, bringing the saber down low, himself ducking, and went to strike at her legs, a sweeping move. His constant movement, his aggressiveness in this fight was surely showing, he couldn't let his Master move away if he wanted an advantage over her, which is what he needed if he wanted to best his opponent. She easily jumped over it, though narrowly missing a strike to the legs. As she went to land, he stoop up, taking a step back, and then bringing forward a downward strike with his left hand, his dominant hand. His Master blocked the downwards saber with a horizontal block above her head. They appeared in a lock of sabers, as both parties struggled to overpower the other.
In the heat of it all, he was glad he could share his new fighting style against his Master. She was the one he thought of when creating this technique, one that would best strong defensive users, and overwhelm them. But his style was still new, still raw. It was unrefined, and unpolished, he knew it. But who better else to sharpen it than his own Master? Even if they weren't officially student and teacher, it didn't mean she couldn't still teach him a thing or two. And he was somewhat glad to be pinned against her. Honored, even.
Tytos stood next to Guhoo as their students came into the training arena. Just like the battlemaster standing next to him, Tytos automatically began weighing the observable strengths and weaknesses of each person in the room. Even if this hadn't been a training scenario, Tytos would have done the same; you don't live the life of a warrior without automatically gauging everyone you meet.
Tytos remained silent as Guhoo addressed the class, simply shifting his cold reptilian stare from one Jedi to the next. As the pairs were called out and moved to their separate areas to begin, Tytos turned to his comrade.
"Battlemaster, with your leave I will begin my observations."
Once he had gotten the OK from Guhoo Tytos would begin slowly strolling through the fighting groups, his Wan-Shen tapping the ground regularly at his side. He would be analyzing everything about today's "contestants," not just what they did but how they did it, why they did it, and also what they didn't do. And, depending on whether the opportunities presented themselves, Tytos may help to add a bit of...unpredictability to the duels, just like he and Guhoo had discussed before hand.
The first person he saw was the Padawan Saul Perth. Tytos could tell that the young man's mind was running a mile a minute as he prepared himself; he had the look of one who could be deeply analytical. Such a skill was good, the ability to predict and plan for multiple outcomes, but Tytos would have to make sure watch this one; sometimes those who relied too heavily on pre-planning found themselves frozen when faced with the unplanned-for.
The next student he studied was Arkantos. The young man took an aggressive lead, starting off with a clever distraction using his unlit saber. Tytos nodded his head once to show his satisfaction at such a tactic; unlike some of his more naive brethren, Tytos fully grasped the value of duplicity and trickery on the battlefield. All in all Arkantos was coming out very strong, using his physical strength and speed to put himself at an early advantage. Such a tactic was valuable if you could dispatch your opponent easily, but against an opponent like his it could easily backfire if the duel went on for any length of time.
Rathru nodded to Della as he calmly made his way over to where he and Minion were about to do battle. It spoke volumes about the Jedi orders cosmopolitan nature that two such different individuals could converse so freely with each other.
"Milady I would speak to you after my bout. I have one in my care who I feel would gain much from meeting you on the track."
Rathru's gaze shifted to Saul.
"I believe you may also draw something from this so take heed and join us after your match"
And finally the golden giant took his place in the allotted arena. This would be a fight to remember - the fruits of cybernetics and chemical enhancement faced up against some of the greatest handiwork that nature had to offer. The mechanical prosthetic that the Wookie had in place of his left arm could certainly pose a threat if ignored. Rathru suspected that it could deal a significant amount of damage even through his carapace. He was certain he could take a hits from the limb If absolutely necessary but the impact of these would go right through his carapace and wear him out quickly.
Getting into stance - legs braced and fists at the ready Rathru motioned for Minion to throw the opening punch.
He would not utilise force powers until Minion did so. Activating force valour in such a duel without perfect control would be dangerous to say the least.
Raleigh was a true jedi, in all senses as it seemed, as no reputation seemed to precede him tough he felt this all right sense he was not someone to brag. Even as the former master to Minion and a new jedi who had grown to be talented individuals in their own right, Raleigh preferred a sense of humility. Knowing what the class was about but none the less wanting to greet his former padawan, Raleigh blew a loud whistle with a grin as he waved at Minion “hey there chewbacca, how you doing?!” Raleigh found it fun to give Minion the nickname to one of his people’s greatest heroes. Being out of outmost respect he held for all of his student, he treated them all as his foster children and tried hard to give into them his wisdom and skill without losing his temper even once or chastising them. Still he held an environment of strict discipline that would see his padawans to the sickbay a few times for training wounds. Not being able to hold the urge, he quickly walked over to bow down to his former student before taping his arm warmly “it’s been too long, how you are doing? I see you are to fight that guy I have only herd of his race but never seen it. They are more majestic in life” Raleigh said before bowing down respectfully to the malabus.
Raleigh would later apologize to Della fray for the slight delay to their sparring match but he had not seen Minion in some time so he wanted to make a quick catch up. Having given Della a good look before, he laughed internally at the fact that she remembered him of his current padawan. They both held an aura of peace and mindfulness, both dressed almost the same and they both looked like the cool kind of hippies aside from the racial differences. It was only a simple look that Raleigh needed to see the external information of her opponent and that she was not as physically as strong as he was, an advantage he would exploit. Still, Raleigh was not someone who underestimated his enemies and expected great power hidden in her peaceful form just like master Ashara did not seem the combative type at first sight.
Raleigh would be careful but would deafeningly enjoy the battle.
