Emryc observed the man quietly as he spoke, sipping from his whiskey. He had done his research on the planet before coming here. The people were known to be clever, shrewd and elitist. The prince was clearly well educated and practiced in engaging diplomats and foreigners with courtesy and respect. Nothing about his tone or posture suggested that he was disingenuous - or perhaps he was simply that good.

“Make no mistake, Prince Ordalos,” His voice was silky smooth, a faint grin tugging at his lips, “We have our fair share of problems. AMS has ravaged many of the Outer Rim planets that don’t have the luxury of a refined infrastructure. We’ve had to rebuild and restructure from the ground up, but we’re making great progress.”

He took another sip from the whiskey, marveling at the man’s choice of top shelf liquor, “But those efforts have taught us a great many things that long standing governments that have existed for millennia can’t teach. We are making history every day. Partnering with us ensures that you will be a part of it,” The consortium crown, the foundations they set in place, all of it would carry on long past their time. It was a once in a lifetime chance to be founders of a new government.

Emryc almost grinned again at the man’s description of the countrysides, “That used to be the case,” He said as he looked back out towards the waterfalls, “I’ve since gained a strong appreciation for the quieter aesthetics where I can hear my own thoughts,” Emryc’s mind drifted back to his time being blind and the agony of loss. He had despaired over not seeing the sun, the grass, the trees. Those were the vivid images that lingered in his mind instead of the cityscapes and skylines of an urban sprawl.

“I would love a tour, Prince Ordalos,” Emryc said genuinely, “Hopefully you have a wide selection of vegetarian cuisines for a rather tame palate,” Amusement danced in his eyes as he spoke.

Would Belasco support a centralized vaccine dispersion system, and an independent galactic healthcare system? Korre repeated Ilana's words in her head, shook them around for a moment, then brightened her smile. It was an obvious yes before the red-headed woman even opened her mouth.

"Health and safety is just as important to me as it is to my people. A safer galaxy would be a safer Belasco; I have no doubts that I would have any trouble convincing them of such a thing." She too, spoke in a softer voice, which was much different than her usual. While not loud, she was definitely not shy of her own voice. Her right eyebrow arched just the slightest, a not-so-subtle, "do tell."

I’ve been called insufferable plenty of times, and by much more respectable men. Far better looking, too.” It was one of his weaker insults, Jin had to admit. Emil was a ridiculously handsome, and he probably knew it, too. Perhaps that was why the man was so unbearably smug. One headline on a raggedy tabloid and everything just went straight to his head. Still, pretentious or not, Jin knew Emil would play an important role in the days ahead.

I should have enough allies in the Republic to ensure what happens does happen,” he continued. “Chancellor Owusaan can talk up a storm, but the moment the rain falls, he will wash away like sand on a shoreline. I only expect that when I make my move, you are there by my side.

There are lots of options to pick and choose from, but there is one in particular I’ve taken great interest in sponsoring. And whoever that may be, I strongly believe they would serve both of our interests quite well.” A mischievous smile rose to his lips. He would not elaborate further, he would not give Emil the satisfaction of knowing, but if he was clever enough, he probably would know exactly who Jin was talking about. The important part was that he agree to this little plot.

"As for those very interests, I’m confident that together, we can build something this Republic has never seen in its whole sad, miserable life.” The music was fading, and Jin pulled away from his dancing partner, leaving him there on the edge of the dance floor. "It's been terrible talking to you, Senator Ro. Alas, there’s a lot of work to be done. People to meet, careers to destroy.” Jin stepped back into the crowd of partygoers, Venka falling in step behind him. “I’ll be in touch.

Then, without another word, he left. A shadow on the wall.

She nodded once firmly, her eyes a firm, steady gaze. With the recent pressure from all sides to produce a vaccine, there were also allegations that members of the Senate assigned to the task force hadn't been doing their due duties; a fact she could confirm, since very few members of the Senate proved useful allies. One of those allies was in this very room; she would have to reach out to Caliban after talking to the charming Korre.

"I believe in working with the powers of the galaxy," she continued, setting her glass aside. She didn't need alcohol to smooth her words into honey; she could be plain and direct, that usually seemed to work well. "I don't intend to make any degree of profit off a disease that has damaged so many systems; and with your own science-related background, I'm sure you're well aware the galaxy's medical provisions are severely lacking, especially with attacks from the Sith, the virus, and recent political talks."

She stood tall, pressing a hand over her heart.
"I created MorataCorp not to make a profit, though there's no shame in that... but rather, to answer the need for medical aid beyond droids, dispensaries, and trauma teams. Do you know how many abandoned medical stations there are, in due part from the Clone Wars and the Empire?" She tilted her head, giving a slight smile and awaiting the woman's answer.

Galek clasped his hands out in front of him, flashing a toothy smile in the President's direction. If there was anything disingenuous about the prince’s polite and cheery disposition, he masked it with nothing less than masterful finesse. “Wonderful, I will see to the preparations at the conclusion of tonight’s festivities. As for the choice of cuisine, have no fear. Luckily we seem to share a preference, on that score.”

With the pleasantries out of the way, Galek allowed the conversation to shift back to the business at hand, hazel eyes narrowed slightly as he listened. “Indupar is fortunate in that we are blessed by profitable trade with the rest of the galaxy and a plethora of resources drawn from the systems that make up the Crown Worlds. Admittedly, there are some amongst our aristocracy who see this great privilege as justification for our continued isolationism. You will perhaps be pleased to know that I see things quite the opposite." It was no secret that Galek had come to his position as Governor with bold and idealistic promises, a marked shift in the politics that his homeworld had practiced for decades - notably remaining independent of both the Republic and Free Worlds Alliance. "With the violent militarization of the Sith and a pandemic gripping the galaxy, I believe the only way we will continue to thrive is by seeking out alliances with the rest of the galaxy."

"Theoretically speaking, should we partner with the ISC, we would be able to share these resources with the rest of the member states, much to the mutual benefit of all our citizens. Given Indupar’s wealthy and stable economy, adopting the Consortium Crown as our standard currency would be one such first step.”
The prince took a long drink from his glass, watching Emryc’s face carefully to gauge his response before he continued onto the next point. “As for AMS… I believe I may be able to bring forward a proposal to help address the situation. One which would both provide relief to those affected by this terrible virus and prove beneficial for the member planets.“

His voice lowered a touch, a frown finally tugging at his lips. “To be candid, I had hoped that this crisis would give the Republic the necessary motivation to act. The catalyst to drive change, as it were.” He shook his head.
“Unfortunately, it seems that they are content to allow such an opportunity slip through their fingers – blissfully unaware of who they isolate in doing so. Luckily, it seems that there are others more than willing to step up to the plate."

Emil did nothing to stop Jin from leaving. It was clear that this would not be the last time the two were in the same room together, though he wasn't exactly sure what to think of that. The son of the Jade Dynasty clearly had an agenda, though what that agenda could possibly be, Emil had not yet puzzled out yet.

He wondered briefly if the royal family knew anything of their son's intent. What little Emil understood about the new government on Fondor suggested that men held very little authority, usually being pedaled out as diplomats or in some other capacity. They were meant to be seen, not heard. But Jin struck him as the kind of man who could not be silence so easily, which made Emil curious how high the man's ambitions reached.

One thing was certain: whatever his goals, he was supremely irritating. But that did not mean he could not be useful moving forward.

With Jin gone, Emil was free to mingle; and so, he sank back into the crowd, socializing casually and enjoying the wine until the young night was quite old.

"I am aware that there are abandoned stations, though not how many there are."

Korre was surprised that this was being revealed to her, but not unhappy at all. And the fact that the doctor didn't plan to profit off of it? It fell right in line with Korre's line of thinking, as well as Belasco's. She was absolutely sure her planet would support such a thing, especially if their scientists could get involved.

"Would you plan to repurpose them? I would assume, since you mentioned them."

She nodded once, wishing she had brought her holodisplay, any sort of visual aid. These stations were littered across the galaxy. "With permissions from the Senate's differing bodies, of course," she replied quietly. "Utilizing such structures would be far more efficient than relying on individual planets, and perhaps much less costly. And hopefully, with the end of the vaccine, it may suit another purpose; to aid planets in dire need of medical service without impinging drastically on their own soil." She didn't have to mention the Sith encroaching further and further into FWA and NR space.

"The FWA can often be finicky with programs similar to what you propose, but since you plan to avoid utilizing individual planets I think my fellow senators will have no qualms with this." Korre took another sip of her drink. "I can't speak for the New Republic or ISC, of course, but I can't imagine anyone would have issue with a universal aid system, especially if it would help with the distribution of the vaccine."

Korre reached into her pocket (yes, her dress has pockets) and pulled out a card made of a thin metal. She handed it to the doctor. "This is my contact card. I am absolutely interested in discussing this further with you. Also, if you wish to view the bacterial specimen on Belasco, send me a ping any time and I will get clearance for you to visit one of the labs."

She took the thin card, and paused for a moment. It seemed almost as though she was uncertain where to put it; there seemed to be no pockets in her dress. However, an impish glint gleamed in golden eyes... and she slipped it into a hidden pocket on her dress as well. "Senator. You honor me. And..." she reached within another pocket, "I extend the same offer to you as well. Should you ever wish to come to MorataCorp Labs, you would be welcomed."

Once the card had been handed, she offered the woman another rare, brilliant smile.

"Until next time, Ms. Korre?"

With that, she would offer the woman a bow, and begin the hunt anew. So many people here, with their charms on display. It felt like a night of unlimited potential here. Emryc and the Prince seemed on their own, the two senators (lovers, perhaps?) had concluded their verbal spat, and the curious Ms. Hipori had vanished.

That left one more interesting person on her list.

The delightful Mr. York.

Crossing over to the bar, head held high, amber eyes regarded the male as she gave him a nod, her own voice light and mellifluous.
"Senator York. I don't suppose you dance?" A drink was set down in front of her; after a momentary glance, she realized it was a whisky.

This event was promising to be a glorious one.

"Thank you Dr. Morata, until next time." Korre would receive the card, slip it inside her own pocket, and return the bow of a head. The senator would then slip off into the crowd, mingling with various other politicians before making her leave later on that night.
