I'm pretty good at archery. Am kinda mentored by two of my buddies that are crazy-good with it. Using the bow is wicked fun, up until you gotta retrieve your arrows (which are ridiculously expensive - don't lose/break em).

Why are arrows so expensive anyway? I was buying a bow for my cousin and pack of 3 arrows was 90 dollars.

Ever tried Kyūdō (弓道)? I had a few lessons when I was in Japan and absolutely loved it.
I would try kyudo if I knew where to get a yumi and proper sized arrows.

No, and since I have a compound bow, I can't "amatuer-hour" try it either. I did watch a few docs. on it though, and from what I observed and what the martial artist said, the fundamentals are quite different than western-styled bows.

In a nutshell, it was overall quite a bit harder, way more based on proper form than practicality (not speaking bad about it!), and the bows were huge in comparison. Of course, I haven't actually experienced it or seen it being done in RL, so this is just based on what Discovery/History channel have shown me.

No idea. Best explanation? Because they can. A good quality bow can cost three times as much as a rifle or more. Trust me, I've been around DSG and Gander Mountain more than a few times. The least they could do is give you the arrow heads or caps, but no - you gotta buy those seperately.

ya, the only thing that sucks is trying to convince one of my other friends to come learn it with me so I can actually have someone to wrestle against since they don't let the men and women wrestle even though they are in the same class. So right now I have no wrestling partners x_x

That makes no sense what so ever...I've been in various martial arts studio's and gyms my whole life and have never seen that as a rule. In general unless they're new most the women there could kick ass on even ground with any guy when it comes to the BJJ and Aikido.

Yeah it's very traditional and ritualistic. It's heavily founded in Zen philosophy and such. I wasn't very good, but when it's done by the experts it looks amaaaazing. There's something really beautiful and calm and poetic about it all hehe.

BJJ mainly. Just started a couple months ago so I'm a 1 Stripe White Belt (for those who know the ranking system)

I've done some Muay Thai and Greco Roman Wrestling.

I blame living in utah personally, it's like a different world sometimes with some of the crazy ass rules. And most of the guys don't want to wrestle me anyways cause they said it makes them feel uncomfortable, lol. I make fun of em all for it.

Been training with a new fight team and learning a Muay Thai/San Da blend. I'm learning so much it's pretty crazy.
