Do we know how much territory the Republic will control on the galactic map? Because I see a Fringe System Alliance sub-faction how far out are these fringe systems? How much territory will the Sith control at the start roughly? If those details haven't been decided yet is there any rough estimates or quadrants that are for sure controlled by the Sith/Republic?

We haven't decided yet. The Republic will maybe be a quarter of the galaxy, including the Core. The Sith will have an even smaller territory, in the historical Sith region around Moraband.

Alright so the majority of the galaxy will be considered neutral at the start of the timeline then?

Presumably, but we're not committing to territorial specifics right now since it's all in flux.

I'm sorry to keep asking questions, but could the Lords of the Sith potentially be similar to the Brotherhood of Darkness in the EU?

We have no answer to that question at this time.

I'd just like to say...

I honestly did not understand for a long time why everyone was so bored with this timeline. People complained that nothing happened and that it was stagnant, but I did not notice and had a fantastic time. Why? Because I made up my own settings and Sith material to RP with and took initiative. Certainly, not much was happening in the wider timeline, but that didn't bother me, it only gave me more free space to RP in.

I think a large part of getting enjoyment out of the site is not relying so much on admins or FLs to spoon feed you events and conflict. Use your imagination, there's a whole galaxy out there, and it is yours to claim *vitiate voice*

The flipside is that there are certain parts of the story that have to be driven by the factions, so even if you're having a wonderful time RPing your own storylines, the timeline itself - as a setting, as a conflict, etc - gets stagnant without the competitive edge, as @Jake rightly put it earlier.

This is one of the reasons I can't wait to see the Indie faction rules, as there are some things in the old 'Legends' lore that Czerka did that I want to re-enact through the faction. Is it fair for me to say that indie factions will play a large part in this new timeline?

As always, the role indie factions play is up to the successes and failures of each indie faction. We're not doing things much differently from an admin perspective in terms of how they're used.

Oh I understand that, I was pretty much reiterating what Weiss said here. While factional conflict is important, members don't have to sit around and twiddle their thumbs until it occurs. The site isn't a high school English class where you have to write about whatever topic the teacher assigns you, which is the mindset I saw much of when people were getting frustrated about the lack of activity.

I'd say this is somewhat misleading. Indies have always been more limited in scope and ability. Even the Bogan, arguably one of the most successful and powerful Indies, had one planet and a fleet that couldn't even come close to what the Hutts and Sith had, as well as maintaining a small sphere of influence. So I guess a better question to ask would be if the overall story could be changed by the Indies, since this timeline was fairly set with the main factions.

The answer to that question is exactly the same as my last post.

How long will the next timeline last?
We don't put end dates on timelines, so there's no way of knowing. For reference, this is how long previous timelines lasted:
  • First timeline: 10 months
  • Second timeline: 2 years, 5 months
  • Third timeline: 1 year, 5 months
  • Fourth timeline: 2 years
  • Fifth timeline: 4 years, 5 months, and counting
So it greatly varies depending on the timeline.

This be the oldest, grumpiest, and most cantankerous of all Timelines.
