Should be able to keep the name, sure. Plenty of people, including myself, appear to be trending in that direction and no one seems to be raising any issues with it.

Do I need to wait for the new timeline then request Noghri be accepted or can I just ask now? I don't want to change anything important about them from the Wiki the species would remain exactly the same the only difference would be it says they were first entered the galactic spotlight during the clone wars but that's non Canon so they'd need to have been encountered even if only by the odd group of smugglers to allow them a way off planet.

I want to use a Noghri for my Czerka character so need to know if I can get it approved now or it needs to wait.
I'm making a Noghri who signed himself into indentured servitude to the owner of Czerka

We just decided the think tank members, so once they've all accepted that will be the next announcement. We will then begin the think tank, and the members of the think tank will develop the factions.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I had a skim through but couldn't see anything. Where are the Mandalorian's in this timeline? I know that in the show "The Clone Wars" they had begun to be a lot more passive etc but I also remember they had many who made up "The Deathwatch" who still looked to rebuild the old Mandolorian Empire.

I was just thinking that because the Mandalorians held possession of the Darksaber for a long time, would they not have a claim over it. They wouldn't even require a large force, just enough of us to role play a surprise attack that could make things even more interesting. While I am not happy to role play a character that took upon the title Mandalore (for now at least) I would be happy to do an informative thread in the planning section for a mandalorian sub faction.

@Fen Vel that is what I was to believe, however my understanding from what I read was that it was to be purely based between Jedi and Sith. I'm just asking if I'd be aloud to throw mandalorians in the mix!

A side question, where would I find what is new cannon?

From what I hear, there are quite a few people interested in making Mandalorian characters and factions. That's a given, since they're one of the most popular expanded factions in the lore. The Darksaber has been mentioned, and will be in possession of the Jedi, at least in the beginning of the timeline.

As for the new canon, as a general reference here's what canon: The six movies, The Clone Wars TV Show, Rebels TV Show, and any Books, Comics, or Games, that have come out since the Disney purchase. That'd include for comics; Star Wars, Vader, Kanan, Leia, Lando, Shattered Empire, and Chewbacca. For novels, that includes; A New Dawn, Tarkin, Aftermath, Heir to the Jedi, and a lot more I can't remember off the top of my head.

So basically anything that previously took place before Episode One is no longer canon. Of course, things mentioned in canon material, (I.E. Darksaber) are still canon, but vaguely explained.

I think the best course of action for you guys to take on for the Mandalorians is to do little to nothing. The Mandalorian community here on SWRP always does a fine job of creating action for itself and others.

And I could be wrong in believing such a thing, but I know people have enjoyed that aspect about them. If anything you could say that they're scattered and leave the rest to anyone with a desire to create their own clan and etc. Keeps it away from the thicket of things and allows anyone writing a Mandalorian to support whomever they like depending if a conflict broke out.
