Next Timeline: Indie Faction Discussion

The reason behind this is very simple as with the current character limit and the probably higher member requirement for independent factions I've decided to be joining one of the others that will develop.

That said, I'm looking forward to add the new timeline's Davik Lorso to an Independent Faction's roster in a couple of months.

Would anyone be willing to join Savak Industries? We would be a company based on finding out the secrets of the Force and Mido-Chlorians. Hunting down artifacts and research. Our end goal would be to cause a mido-chlorian reaction within lifeforms to allow most of the population feel the Force. That way, every single individual would be on the same base level and could protect themelves accordingly.

Could just as easily revive the Je'daii Order if that's what you're looking for too. Teach a balance between the two, a true 'Grey Jedi' Order.

I'm planning to make COBALT either a subgroup (officially recognized or just an inofficial RP group) of the Border Alliance - a top secret special operations group that specializes in fighting Force users, which will be pretty heavily involved in the war effort - though covertly so, disguising themselves as mercenaries or regular Border Alliance grunts, among other things. Another alternative is to make them a rogue Republic organization turned indie faction, which, again, fights with the BA against the Sith. We shall see.

But, anyway, an important thing to note is, they will be soldiers, not warriors or lightsaber wielding acrobats. They'll use military tech, military style hand to hand combat, military tactics, and military gear/weapons to overcome their opponents. Some will be able to use the Force, but it will differ greatly from how Jedi or Sith use it, and those who can't use the Force will often be enhanced with cybernetics to various degrees.

If anybody's intrigued by this, there's more details in Cobalt's profile. I'm planning a proper detailed writeup in the Workshop sometime when I have time.

I have personally been working on a New Species Profile for next timeline (off site), and I was planning on making a Faction for them, but the more I develop the story of the Species, I realize that where they start off, wouldn't necessarily be fantastic for a Faction until they develop a bit more in the Story Arc I create for them.

However, I DO see them making it as a Faction (or a sub-faction) if they piggy back on another Faction in their earlier stages of introduction. This thread brings up the perfect opportunity to send out the message of an alliance of sorts for a "Good Sumaritan"-type Faction going up that will start off with the possible resources to aid in the rise of this Species/Faction.

Some notes on what I have so far for the Species:
- The Species Write-Up is extensive, and I'd like to think it is detailed and near completion (more or less). The Species is extremely primitive as far as development is concerned, but has the potential for a LOT more.
- I have a Planet Write-Up in mind, but not yet started apart from what information is revealed on it in the Species Write Up. I haven't yet started the Planet Write Up for the main reason of not having finished the Species yet, but the secondary reason is that I don't know what resources I'd want the planet to have available. After all, it is the basis for any Alliance for the factions to get something out of the deal, and it would benefit a Faction discovering this species and its planet if they get something relatively valuable out of it (assuming it is approved by the appropriate Forum Leadership). *Keep in mind that whatever of value there would be on the planet will be extremely limited for obvious reasons.*
- And, obviously I have nothing on a Faction Write Up, but am very much willing to start it up as soon as I have a solid foundation for information on starting it up. The species write up described the species as highly aggressive and war-prone, so when the Faction eventually does get created for the species, I would expect it to take the form of a sort of combat-oriented group such as mercenaries of conquerors of some sort. If a Faction wants to allow them to piggy back off them, it would be highly plausible that the species would be able to be used for combative purposes, because of their natural disposition. And obviously, I did this to make it appeal to the combative nature of the Star Wars universe, to help explain why the species would make very poor slaves, and to help appeal to the PVP aspect of the site.

* If anyone wants more information on the Species, I can create a more detailed summary of the species, or even send them what I have already for their Species Write-Up.

I hope this is an attractive opportunity so a faction that thinks they may need a decent combat-oriented population to make up their faction population-wise. (Note though that the Species will be an endangered species to start off with, and that whatever faction is interested in them, will be largely responsible for shaping their future).

That's actually a pretty awesome idea. Honestly I hope the boarder alliance would have something like that as a part of it. Since that would be my second republic character.

Diamonds in the Rough is always on the look out for potential soldiers. While the make-up will be a majority of military veterans and the like, that could be a good setup for initial contact and interactions. Maybe a kind of mentor/student relationship? We can give you advanced warfare techniques, and we get shock troops/allies.

Definitely would be interested in getting The Order involved, I was planning to create a species to work with the order and my main character and a planet so maybe we could combine the two.

They were also going to be a pre-space faring species and were going to be under my character and as an extension the Orders protection.

I think we should do like the criminal factions are looking at doing and try to form one Galactic Conglomerate, with each of our individual factions as holding companies of the parent conglomerate.

The best thing about the prequals is that there is a lot of allegory related to the centralization of government power. I'd like a megacorporation in this timeline allegorical to modern day cronyism in government. We can play out the lack of competitive markets in centrally planned economies, the government cronyism that is present in most modern democracies and the criminal ties that we absolutely know exist.

If you'd like some help, I have a couple ideas for how the resurrection of the Je'daii Order could work in this timeline. The Je'daii (not sure if that's actually 'canon' in this new new canon) were the predecessors of the Jedi, as the name implies. But unlike the orders that followed them, the Je'daii taught a balance between light and dark, making them the quintessential 'Gray' force sensitive order on Tython. If you're interested I can always send you a rundown on PM.
