I actually completely disagree with the idea of letting someone, who signed a contract, cop out at the last second.

Follow orders, do your job, and if you don't want to be deployed badly enough, then do something stupid. Get dishonorably discharged. The end.

And cost the military money for court martial and such, not to mention if they do anything TOO stupid then they get sent to prison, military prison which the military has to pay for.

I can't believe some of you guys actually think it's a good idea to maintain a policy of discrimination just because there's a few pussies out there who'd like to run away and hide. If it comes down to spending money or discriminating, spend the ****ing money.

If you signed up to defend your country, and they asked you say...what your favorite milkshake was. And you have a milkshake. And I have a milkshake. And you're worried about me taking my straw and reaching waaaaay over here and I. Drink. Your. Milkshake. I drink it right up!

Would you like to be courtmarshalled for that? No of course not. It's silly. So is being kicked out because people are worried about other people touching their penis or vagina when nothing has happened. It's like being convivcted of a crime and punsihed when you haven't even done it, but merely had the means to.

I will say this, though. If anyone touches my ****ing milkshake, we're going to have a problem.

I like you Niner but you make me lol...
Tons are being processed right now for doing stupid things. I don't want to sound wasteful, but you know the US has a huge military budget. It's no biggie. Brandon is right, spend the money.

Oh no, I think that it is a terrible policy. I just like the idea of someone having a chance to bounce before I expect them to give me covering fire. That isn't a good reason for discrimination. I just don't think it'd be awesome to be shot.

You'd think we'd save a good half of this debate until action is actually made, but no.

Makes me think, though...what exactly has Obama actually done? I mean, he's said a lot of stuff is going to happen, but i'm not wholly aware of much actual change taking place.

That's why a lot of higher up gay activists are skeptical. So far, the Obama administration has been all talk with very little show.

Gay people are at the bottom of the priority list.

He's barely doing anything at the top of the priority list, so that point's relatively moot.

He's addressing long term problems; like Afghanistan and the economy. Not to mention, negotiating with Russia over Iran, and fostering Sino-U.S relations.

I really don't understand what people expect from him.

EDIT: Oh and he reformed health care.

He will anyway.

That kind of talk is exactly what we're talking about. Don't believe it until you see it. Politicians can never ever be trusted to make good on their promises, not even awesome politicians like dear old Barack.

The Bill is going to be passed by congress. It's not up to him anymore.

How do you know it's going to be passed?

If it's not passed, Obama might just say "Oh well, I tried!" And then bang, US healthcare stays the way it is.

Then it's not his problem anymore. It's those of the politicians in congress who let the american people down.

And I'm just stating my opinion. I believe that it's going to be passed. Without the public option, of course, but it's still something.

He could try again, altering his plan to try and make it more likely to pass Congress. But if the Bill isn't passed, then imo he will probably just forget about the healthcare and focus on the other stuff he has on his plate. And since he promised the American people free healthcare, that would be Obama letting the American people down.

However, I do agree with you that it will probably be passed.
