Why not stick to a single world? Something with diverse environments and a nice area of space to explore and have combat in?

Nah, travel between spacial locations/planetary bodies is pretty important.

I dunno, 1313, from what little we saw of it before it was canned, showed that you can have something feel Star Wars whilst technically sticking to the one planet. It would be interesting to see particular worlds get fleshed out by some dedication, with the subsequent promise to see other worlds in such a fashion with later installments.

Despite what people seemed to think, 1313 wasn't open world and it actually wasn't going to stick to one planet as was revealed after it's cancellation.

Star Wars is still Star Wars regardless of what planet its on. You don't need an 'open world' Star Wars game to have you flying across the galaxy, because face it: Even with today's technology, you still wouldn't be able to have true open worlds. Maybe in the future, but as far as EA and EA Canada go (Some of these guys used to work for Bioware), I don't expect something amazing out of the tech.

Focusing on one world would be great. You'd have recognizable characters, perhaps even multiple cities and space battles around it. Etc.

When did I say any of that?

I was talking about the idea Bac and I were discussing,

Jesus Christ people need to read more carefully on this forum sometimes.

There's an aesthetic to Star Wars that's important for it to be Star Wars, there's a sense of scale and adventure that's extremely important, there's a sense of familial strife that's integral and ultimately it needs to feel epic while still feeling relatable. Hence the grit of the original films, hence the environments that weren't truly alien, you didn't have crystal worlds or purple and green worlds, you had a desert, a snowscape, a forest and a jungle, with people speaking natural sounding dialogue with recognisable monikers like "Knight", "Princess" and "Emperor".

You could have a Star Wars story set entirely in a ****ing toilet for all I care.

Trust me, I know what makes Star Wars be Star Wars mate, but that's not what we were taking about, or at least it's not what I was talking about.
