This was sent to me by Nor'baal, who requested that I introduce him by saying that Nor'baal (the illustrious one) is to thank for this.

Profile submissions mod is basically the same as Kiro - so no suggestions there from me.

Battlemods - I think they should follow a framework when they make rulings on threads:

- Viability of Action: Is the action physically possible?
- Character of Action: Does the character have reasonable cause to execute the action?
- Fairness of Action: Is it deliberately dereailing the story to do this action, does it bring anything to this story?

Fundamentally, a battlemod should, in my view, act within the spirit of the overall story that is trying to be reached in the thread. If the thread was started as a passive meeting in a bar, is it reasonable that Player Steve drops a bomb on the bar just to kill Player Emma?

They post a ruling when required, and each member of the thread then has 24 hours to respond to that ruling, before a final one is made.

I think that's a good way of framing the battle mod position. What do other people think?

I think that's a really good suggestion. I liked the idea of battle mods having responsibility for espionage too, but if that's not something you want to give them then I totally can understand that.

I think espionage is a factor that could still be handled by the regular admins. We've already been keep track of it, and we've got a system in place for keeping tabs on it. Having the battle mods deal with the espionage I believe will only cause the battle mods to be detracted from the main area that needs assistance: reviewing/monitoring/ruling on PvP threads.

Looks good. I have a suggestion? Comment? Something? XD

I might suggest something with the Viability of action part, something about players being more true to characters. One of the biggest complaints I hear is about people being too afraid to take a hit in PvP because it more than likely will result in them losing the thread. I also understand (as Brandon and I had this discussion at one point when I first joined the site) about being able to out think another person's character means that they'd be able to more than likely not get hit and thus are the "superior" PvPer.

I'd like to see something that is a combination of and could I guess... in a way "encourage" people to get hit without them feeling like they're going to lose the fight. I think this could cause there to be more "epic" fights where an underdog could still come back and win on occasion.

Hope this makes sense?

Yeah, I agree. A lot of the arguments we see aren't over potential character death, but over injury. I'm sure fear of death is a root cause of that, but there's often unwillingness to take any sort of a hit.

I remember this one dude, some guy who played a Hutt, tried to kill to Jedi with a Hookah pipe.

Pretty sweet.

Anyway - I agree, taking injury should be less scary, I mean one of the best and most fun characters I've played is Voren Makr. He got broadsided by an explosion.

SciFi shit happened, droids and doctors, and he's fine. It's Star Wars, you can recover from most injuries (apart from the Ban Hammer).
