http://www.newsweek.com/following-supreme-court-decision-mississippi-may-stop-issuing-any-marriage-347740

>Seriously considering eliminating marriage licenses for 96% of the population just so you can stop the remaining 4% of the population from getting married.

Only in this country.

Actually only in Mississippi, haha. I applaud my State for coming out and telling its county clerks they need to abide by the SCOTUS decision despite previous reservations on gay marriage.

What makes me angry about things like this is the argument that freedom of religion = only conservative Christian values and that if a law conflicts with one of those values freedom of religion is being violated. It completely misses the entire point of the first amendment.

Well all I have to say is that through my social media feed, there are many in my area at least that are against this decision. It seems like a 50% split on support or for it. People seem to be claiming now that pedophiles are up next in line for rights, and they're praying that this marriage decision will be reversed which I think is kind of ironic, because of the whole Church-State thing.

Well, at least it makes it REALLY easy to decide who to remove from your FB.

The slippery-slope argument has been used against every progressive decision, with identical arguments, that always talked about dire consequences that never arose. Anyone who uses that argument is simply illustrating their narrow-minded world-view, bigotry, and fear of change.

And with that comparison those people are directly comparing LGBT to pedophiles which should be enough in-and-of-itself to showcase how idiotic and bigoted they are, not to mention how terrible they are as human beings. :|

The 50/50 thing also isn't true. 60% of the country supports marriage equality. Contrast that with 2004, when only about 30% of people supported marriage equality, and George W. Bush was re-elected largely by opposing marriage equality.

Somewhere in America a homosexual unwilling to commit just lost their last excuse.

:3:

But really, I'm very excited for this ruling. Several close friends are no longer legally discriminated against and that is friggin awesome. Long road ahead, but a victory is a victory and it is sweet :D

I was just talking about on my feed, it seemed like it was split from all the views, I knew that most people supported gay marriage, there has just been a rather vocal minority against it.

I was wondering when they were gonna post a video about it. The comments section on that video though is disgusting.
