Little hope for this series, but hope is there none-the-less.

What about this screams the end of Star Wars? We've survived the PT, the latest clone Wars cartoon, and The Old Republic. This would have to be pretty bad to kill off the franchise.

Only thing that bugs me is that the show is on DisneyXD. Why do they insist on putting shit on that one channel that you basically need to special order? Not a big deal, since I'll just torrent the whole thing off the net anyway, but they're cutting their demographic to pieces when they put shows on non-basic cable channels.

I merely said that in the link for sarcasm. I don't have much hope for this show being a big success, though. My reason is that it's going on Disney XD, which has a history of airing really bad shows and continues to air them, regardless of the dislike from the viewers. There are a few (emphasis on few) shows that they air that are okay, but mostly it's crap.

Do explain.

Apparently, Disney XD is coming out with a show in 2014 to explain the gap between episodes 3 and 4. While they still have the director from the clone wars working on it, Gregg Weismans' "Young Justice" was OK, but nothing to swoon over. And Simon Kinberg could've done better with X-men First Class. while it was an alright movie, there were still a few things that I think could've been done better.

But putting those three together to make a show aired on a channel that isn't known for having amazing or great shows doesn't give me the best of hopes for it. Besides, what would the point of this show be? We've been thrown all through these in-between shows and games, and were shown the past with several other games. It feels too overdone.

EDIT: ninja'd me too :CStern

Again, it was just me being sarcastic. I changed the wording around so it wasn't so negative, but I still stand by my expectation of the show. I really hope I get surprised by it, but I'm still not holding my breath for it.

It's designed for kids, and that's fine for the most part. Normally I wouldn't like twice at it, but I'm pretty sure it's canon, so... D:

"It's designed for kids" isn't entirely accurate. I’m sure it’ll be accessible to kids, like the original trilogy was, but all public indications so far point to the show being made like the original trilogy and how it appealed to everyone. It's a departure from the prequel era; even Dave Filoni prefers the original trilogy era to the prequel era. When the creative team - Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman - sat down to decide what kind of show they wanted to do, they all immediately honed in on a Rebellion concept because they all grew up loving the original trilogy.

The legitimisation of the prequels irks me, but I'll always have that problem.

This is a few years after that era, so it probably won’t be connected to it too much. The only big thing I can think of is that Ahsoka Tano could show up every once and awhile, and maybe an exploration of the clones post-Order 66. Beyond that, it's not rooted in the prequels like The Clone Wars had to be.

I'm waiting for a more solid trailer, though I read over your thoughts on it and do agree Brandon. I won't get my hopes to high up, but I've raised them a bit, and am actually interested in the show now.

Even that is a problem for me, I know, I love to hate every aspect of them, I'm awful.

Dave Filoni and Greg Weisman working on this, not bad. Simon Kinberg working on this, questionable but still not bad.

And no george lucas in sight.

They're shitty Prequels, not Charles X. Granted, I'm right there with you that this is probably going to be mediocre at best, but roughly acknowledging stuff that did indeed happen (and let's not forget that diagetically this can mean a whole lotta different things, since different characters see different things differently --we could just Rashomon a lot of the bad shit out, if we did even address a tenth of a percent of it, since it's not really salient) is not gonna make or break this.

For me, the wider issue would be if the Prequels were threatening to supplant the Original Trilogy in public memory, and thus making it harder to market and create properties based on that ethos and time. But since that looks unlikely, given how hard Disney is hitting the Episode VII button, I don't really see the issue.

I mean, I do get the feeling behind it, but honestly, I think there are better things for us to worry about.

I loved Ahsoka Tano. Certain bits and pieces of her character really made me get goosebumps every time I would sit and watch TCW. I thought her character was brilliantly written into the story, but that's just me.

She did grow into a good character, but she was pretty bad in the beginning.

Thank Christ there was some character development for her.

I never liked Ashoka. Yeah, there was character growth, but she still screamed PLOTHOLE and CONTINUTITY ERROR to me. Because you'd imagine that Anakin'd mention his run-away Padawan at least once as parts of the reason why he'd want more power and stuff, but nope. Not a thing. (I know this is because Episode III came out before The Clone Wars, of course, but still.)

To me, the Clone Wars would have been brilliant if they'd focused much more on the Clones, and let the Jedi fall a bit to the side, but that's just my opinion.

Is it strange that I find plotholes or continuity errors like that to be not that big a deal?

I must say that the Clone Wars show turn out to be good despite a rough start and the character Ahsoka Tano as well. In my opinion the last two seasons of that series was the best of it. Considering its the same crew who did the Clone Wars imagine what they can do with this Rebels show. Granted I'll with all of you being on the cautious side until its sure thing but the sheer prospect of going into the origins of the Rebellion does get me very excited. Cautious yet excited I am indeed for Star Wars Rebels :)
