Hmm. The first I remember was done in both the prequels and the clone wars, so i'm sure you could do something similar.
As for the second one, that's a big maybe. It would have to have some pretty major downsides for it to be accepted since it offers full protection.

Yeah, that could work. I mean the gungans have something similar.
Like the problem I see with a shield is that we have a guideline for no personal shields without being either nerfed or put on a heavy trooper. And this is a large shield generator for multiple soldiers. Although, I'm tinkering with the idea of a mobile shield droid.

Shields have traditionally been frowned upon by the tech admins due to the restrictions on light-saber resistant materials on SWRP. This does make shields somewhat redundant for the following reasons:
1) Either they are made of light-saber proof materiel, which would not be approved (to my knowledge)
2) They are made out of ordinary materiel, which would make them only work against 'normal' blades - in which case they would count as a 'generic tech item', as it would effectively be a lump of metal you can hold in one hand.
3) They are made to block incoming ranged attacks - in which case you would be better off getting an energy shield.
As such, we are left with:
1) The shields the Gungans have in Phantom Menace
2) Ordinary Shields found in Canon
3) Energy Shields
4) Ceremonial Shields (For Gladiators and Ceremonial Guards)

I did have an idea for a riot control droid who uses a shield and blaster, but the shield is electrified to incapacitate people. I think you just need to think beyond just a shield and see what you can do from there.

Aye, which is why the shield would work best with some type of power or full body armor and have a robotic arm to assist the user, as well as have additional armaments in it such as minirocket pods, blasters, blades, etc

A riot suppression droid could warrant a shield, certainly.
Potential there for the shield to being electrified, as well as the shields to interlock with neighboring droids to form a riot shield wall.

Other than my mine how about heavy fighter armerd with a turbo laser. If you make it only slightly more agile than a gunship with light shields you could get away with it.
Some more limitations are it useing expendable power cells (simlare to those used by the separatists) limiting you to say 50 shots.
To make it useful ship it would be fast and have could armour. All so it could carry a few point defence lasers.
While a poor anti star fighter ship it would be the bane of freighters, gunships, corvettes and in large numbers even warships.
My inspiration is the mosquito fighter bomber XVIII.

Hmm. Maybe. Although I remember Jiang said only to do that with the ship being built around the Turbolaser itself.
I'm not sure if you'll get away with PD lasers. Although, you could implant these ships into fighter squadrons for an effective screen.
Instead of expendable cells, maybe just have it drain the generator massively? So when firing, the ship would have weaker shields, be less maneuverable, and would take time to recharge before being back to full power.

Well it can't dog fight and as only 50 shots. Means it's easy prey for fighters, missieles and the guns of the target. It would be a supper fast glass Cannon. Sort of like the Russian early fast attack missile boats. They would attack a western fleet in a swarm, race in and fire before they could be fired on, race out with the knowledge most of them are dead if shot at.
They would be used sort of how people use the Pegasus in War Game Red Drangon. Distract the enemy fleet with your fleet. Use your speed to race to attack From a different direction.
